It's not comfortable and especially without a vision of seeing a Tibetan society not speaking Tibetan. It seems like our culture is dying, but think again, what made us think that speaking other languages in a Tibetan community looks worrisome. If it is based on some feeling that it just doesn't look Tibet-ish when someone speaks like American in a Tibetan gathering, then I think you need to again weigh what's more important. Is it Tibet's issue or the language? which is more important. Japanese and Koreans in America will forever be Japanese American and Korean American, and they will have to carry their ancestor's nationality with them and they will be identified with it not matter how American-ish they get. Similarly, no washing machine, passport or money can peel-off our identity. I am proud of being Tibetan and I will speak whatever language I am comfortable to break and disseminate the information about our cause. The richness of our culture is incredible and it would be truly a loss for oneself to not speak or write Tibetan to uncover this whole new world of Buddhism that has explained everything about human psychology 2500 years ago in detail. But again, not everyone will become enlightened. Let's not waste our time fighting for a cause that will deprioritize the cause we care about, let us be honest and fight from our heart and use any methods to bring Tibet to the front. What matters is we are who we are, and let's be organic and present to the world facts and truth than reproaching one another. We will speak Tibetan, English, Spanish, Hindi, Urdu, Chinese, but we are Tibetan by blood. A multitalented, diversified, battle-tested Tibetan. A proud Tsampa Eather here!!!! Bhod Gyalo.
Why in English, I really don’t understand ? even we have our own language... that’s the problem with new generations thinking English speaking mean better educated or more successful... please have a pride in your language , then only you get respect from outside world... next time no opportunity for English speakers because they send a wrong message to the next generations... yes the nation struggle starts with its language identity. Forget others... language first and then come the rest...I stop 🛑 listening after hearing English... because I don’t expect it in the 5/50 vision speakers... what we can learn from someone who have no pride in speaking their own language... really sad. Don’t just get brain washed...
1.39 min discussing sensitive issues such as Kashmir and Palestine! And even Citing India’s Article 370, comparing Kashmir and Palestine to Tibet! -One should choose the words very wisely and politically correctl- don’t forget that Tibet is not Kashmir and India is not China!
Almost everyone wore the traditional dress but why they all are speaking in English ? First they should learn proper Tibetan language before deliver the speech on specific topic.
It is better to speak in a preferred language so that nothing is lost in translation. This is not a language learning session but a meeting were you make your case & the message is More Important.
