This was the school hymn at the school where I taught. One of my subjects was RE, and the first homework for the new pupils was for them to memorise the words ready for the music department to take over.
My school hymn!
Nice to hear this again.
I remembered every word and sang along.
Have not heard this for more than 50 years! Thank you! xx
At last found the version my school sang! Lady Edridge Grammar School, Surrey.

I also went there as an international student as well!
Like Allie Sommerville, I am an old L.E.G.S. girl and I can still remember Mrs Tryon teaching us the words with no run-ons ( as in 'notunto wusso Lord' & 'All knowledge Andy vi switch...' etc)
Very powerful used also in the film Henry V after the battle of Agincourt directed by Keneth Branagh.
Dear old Rud,bless him.
My secondary school song too! St. Hilda's High School for Girls, Liverpool... We were expected to know it off by heart by the end of our first week (or, possibly, month)... I never did learn it beyond the second line... As if having Latin as a compulsory subject wasn't bad enough! (How useful a subject to learn in the 1980s! (I don't remember much of that either! 🙄))
If you'd got beyond the second line you'd have discovered that it isn't in Latin! except for the first three words (and even they are translated immediately in the next five)
:-p
@@Cagedvole See! Proof i never learned it! 😉 Lol 😁
Fellow St.Hilda's pupil here, I learned this 60 years ago and still remember all the words.
My school song, Twyford Comp Acton.
Also the song of the Hewett School in Norwich.
My school song too! Warrington High School for Girls!
An occasional 'Meeting' anthem at my care home of the 1950s. 'Jeruselem' was preeminent, though, as our care home 'Meeting' anthem.
