I just finished on my ps5 and it was a really good game
I really think that at the end of the cinematic Marianne separated from her spirit's part like her father did. I have no clue for the gunshot but I'm pretty sure she separated. However this game is so fantastic, the gameplay, plot, everything... I want a The Medium 2 so bad

Hey I just have an information and I am not sure though if it's correct or not but I think the maw is a spirit like what Lilly said and you can't get rid of them unless the host is not alive (dead or killed) and because Lilly couldn't do anything the Maw consumed and you could see her palm face and her weak body. But for other monsters just like Richard's or Henry which was named Hound, those aren't spirits those were the demons of those people what was left of them as the Childeater said (Richard's monster) so they don't get affected by the death of host. They are just like remains, although Marianne freed these souls just like she does all the game but those remains still different they are like the sins of the person.

there is a problem in this ending：I understand the author wanna leave a blank space for players imagination,
however, I think this space is too wide that players don't even want to step in,since there is no prove of the monster would be banished immediately after Lily got shot in the head,
Marianne, Lily, the monster, they can be all dead, or they can be all survived(e.g. if Lily suddenly is able to cast out the monster for a while).
In the whole game, players have been keep trying to catch the intention of the author, so they can puzzle the whole story and know what they are playing.
in this ending, at the moment of they understood the whole story, and were satisfied for that, the monster came, and they just immediately paid all attention of the standoff and watching for the sparking from the ending....
Now, you want them to get a large blank space, to be "part of the author"? Nah.
at the last moment they're seeking for the answer, you just showed them that Ghost Thomas has escaped, nobody knows how it's connected to the ending they're caring of.
it's a great set up for game #2 and considering this is an exclusive i bet they will try making it a recurring thing
I'm certain they did it this way to make room for a sequel. We can speculate all we want, and they will likely establish a canon ending when they release a sequel.

You see, I don't mind cliffhangers but this really bothers me because it's unclear what the hell happened, who the hell thinks this is somehow a good way to end a game? it better be because they're making a sequel or story DLC because this ending really leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

I can see a sequel where she attempted but didn't accomplish it i.e coma idk but theirs defiantly a sequel.
In the game from the beginning we see that in the spiritual world every object is an alternative copy of what it is in reality, nothing is the same even though a house is always a house and so on ... It is given to us to think that the only thing that can cross the two worlds are the protagonists ... All this until the last scene when we see that the anniversary clock is physically located in the spiritual world ... So I say that in reality Marianna managed to shoot the demon of his sister because she managed to overcome the last barrier and carry the objects with her to the spiritual world.

@@jerbsherb4391 I was playing on the Xbox Series X and had this happen in various cutscenes sadly.
@@GamersPrey I would ask if you can play it again after the game is patched. Maybe it was a development issue.
Edit: I just went back to replay that cutscene since I just beat the game and I don't have that issue. Definitely seems like a glitch than that being implemented.
imo Mariaane traveled to the Spirit World and shot Maw instead of Lilly like some people said
#1 proof is that Thomas probably found a way travel into spirit world from ending scene we saw him taking the watch off the ground which proves he's able to use/interact with Material world objects
#2 second proof is probably that the Childeater was still alive even though Richard was already dead which proves maybe the Reverse can happen too (killing the Maw while keeping Lilly and Sadness alive)
the maw was struck by lightning. something far more powerful than a pistol, how could it be dead?

I hate survival horror games or whatever you call this. But I loved this game because of great voice acting. I also thought great writing but that will obviously depend on how ambiguous endings sit with you.
This ain’t survival horror that would be resident evil silent hill dead space etc.

It's a coput/sequel bait ending. Which I am tired of. I just want a fulfilling ending after playing it for hours. Ridiculous!
@@conyo985 not to mention the game doesn't have the guts to show the sensitive/touching moment which is the shot. Fade to black to let us in doubt which one was shot, but even though that baits a sequence it's not fulfilling for this one. I kinda enjoy the game, I guess? It's not even close to those 9/10, 5/5 reviews, but got no interest on a sequel after that ending, that's for sure.
God this game was just painfully average, the story had no real emotional impact until the last 30 minutes, marianne as a character was just so cringy and unrelatable, the only character that was somewhat interesting was thomas and you spent the majority of the time with him as his spirit self and the icing on top of the cake was this painfully terrible ending that gives you 0 conclusion on the mess of a story.

I mean if you skip every echo and dont read the little evidence and try to speed run through I'm sure youd come to that conclusion. The fact you dont know what happened keeps the theme of the mystery of what's going on for the sequel. Most likely lily died and the Maw lives on. But thinking isnt your strong suit is it
I agree, it goes through all the same shortcomings as Blair Witch did and it results in an even messier game with an incomprehensible plot, a narrative that tried to ask for so much yet pushed so little and none of the cast was genuinely compelling, minus the one person you see the least of and only in his spirit form. This comes from someone who found all achievements in a singular playthrough as well so I got the full narrative, I played it for free however so the only thing I feel robbed of is time
@@mgoops i found every echo and postcard, nothing is explained until the last 20 minutes until then you're forced to painfully bear through a mediocre dialog with little to no emotional impact on top of uninspired repetitive gameplay, banking the games story on a sequel isn't a great thing to do fyi considering if you want to play the sequel you need to be engaged in it's predecessor which simply this game is not.
