This is truly a heirloom quality project. I'm sure in 20 or 25 years another little boy or girl will be cruising down a hill on this toboggan.
That would be awesome!
Anything painted or stained red will go really fast! Another fantastic job...thanks for sharing.
it's science haha!
You are a very upstanding person. I admire that. As a fellow Pennsylvanian....Much respect...I love your channel
Thanks!
What a beautiful peace of work. You never stop amazing me with your talent and engineering.
Endless winter fun right there from twines and wood. And 'no brakes' hahahaha.
Facts!
Beautiful project. I’m painting red stripes on my car now. Cheers!
Nice! Watch out for speeding tickets, you won't be able to help yourself the stripes just make it go faster.
HoneyBadger WoodWorks worked great on my car! Not so much on my running shoes.
I have enjoyed this Toboggan build of yours. It turned out beautiful and I'm sure someone is enjoying this winter. Also enjoyed watching another toboggan build by the "Aspiring Craftsman" on his YT channel. I live in West Central Florida that is pancake flat and snowless, but I enjoyed seeing these builds of some fun sleds.
I'll have to check that one out, love steam bending videos..
A fascinating and creative build. It should last a long time, better than the moulded plastic ones my kids used on the few occasions we got enough snow.
Love it. Well done. And yes. Red paint will make it the fastest one on the hill!!
Great result, as a swap I think the other person may have got the better of the deal, love the red stripes just the highlight needed to make it pop 👌👌👌👍👍👍🇦🇺
Enjoyed watching the build. You do great work. Thanks for sharing.
Absolutely stunning you are amazing awesome job take care stay safe and warm god bless
Hello from Germany. I like the idea with the sledge. Perhaps a small cushion for sitting would not fit. Spare the Popo. Greeting Peter 🇩🇪❤️❤️
Hello a great video and a perfect job 👍👍👍I loved it 😉 from Germany 🇩🇪 👋👋👋Kai
I love the proportions of it, that big curved front and those red stripes! It's a wonderful and very generous gift. God Bless You.
This video has perfect timing for me, with your honesty in showing the slat alignment mishap and fix. I'm in the middle of a project where I made a rather dumb mistake, have been fretting over it even though I've determined how to work around it, and, well I guess you've taught me to accept the mistake and continue doing the best I can.
Moral to my story: target perfectionism but don't expect it, at least not all the time. Thanks for posting.
Exactly. I definitely stared at it for a little bit trying to convince myself the misalignment wasn't THAT noticeable. But, in the end I usually decide to fix mistakes like this and it's always worth it.
I say it every week! I enjoy watching your process, you’re a very ingenious engineer! Gonna be cold for about a week or so, good time to catch up on paperwork! Awesome job, as always!
I know! I have been really lucky with a mild winter so far, but that is officially out the window and it's freezing.
What an absolutely beautiful gift. I think it will be cherished and with your record of making it placing it in time. Thank you for showing what can be made and how valuable generosity can be.
It turned out beautiful! I laughed at the red goes faster comment, a little window into your personality I haven’t seen in your other videos I have watched. Can’t wait for the next project, I hope you keep warm in your shop this week!
Got lucky I've been installing a built in this week and staying very warm haha.
Looks absolutely awesome. The red racer needs some wax on the bottom, then she'll be ready for the time trials.
I've heard about the wax, that's a good idea.
What an amazing build, I admire your talent and what you represent. Love your content.
That little ripper is a gem! Love it. As others have said, it's an heirloom piece. It's a lucky kid that's gonna ride that down some epic sledding hills. (I'd barter an 8" jointer for something that cool, but it doesn't look like you have the room 😉) Thanks for sharing. ✌🤘
hahaha I have been thinking of ways to get a jointer to fit in here for a few years and I just don't think its gonna happen.
Amazing work. That looks just like the one I had as a kid.
This will become a family heirloom.
Nice! Thanks what I was hoping, that it would be something that would last for awhile.
Very nice build video and that's one pretty sled :)
Pretty nice. Great job
Beautiful
Hey SUPER JOB! Can't wait to see what your next project is.
I discovered that under the rear board there are two counter sunk holes to screw the inner jaw into the bench. I think that would add a lot of strength
Hey Scott, I did not so I’ll have to do that. Thanks!
Beautiful work! Thumbs up and thanks for posting.
"Paint it red and it will go faster." Back before police used radar, well, maybe that's how the expression "cop magnet" came into being (just kidding, just kidding!).
Anyway thanks again.
Looks great, seems to have a lot of HP
haha!
Beautiful C. Heirloom status for this piece.
Thanks man!
Nice. Ever do a shop tour video? If not could be a idea for a future video.
I think before I leave this shop, I'll have to do one.
Very nice
Thank you. I really appreciate you taking the time to provide detailed explanations. Beyond the informative videos, it is so refreshing to learn valuable techniques that do not require a prohibitive investment in equipment. You have inspired me to try some steam bending. Do you know where I might get some green or air dried white oak or cherry in the Kennett Square area (I live just a few miles away)?
No way! I get hardwood lumber from Greg Flegal he's in Kennett. He had green white oak, but that was a year ago so no promises. But, his prices are the best and he's a great dude! www.gregoryflegal.com/content/sawmill
Nicely done, Looks great!
Very nice and interesting build 👏👏👏
So red stripes on toboggan to go faster, green stripes on cars to go faster ( so they say in England ?)
' British Racing Green ' used to be a popular colour in the UK in the '60s. My first Mini was that colour: didn't make it any faster though !
hahaha did not know that!
Red racing strips
If it doesn't go fast what's the point?
Caitlin, When you mounted the vice did you just use just the 2 holes on the bottom?
Do you have a Drawing or details for your bending Jig
I do not, sorry.
hi, why don’t you just grab a still from the video? My only worry would be that the sled went over a stone and broke through the very thin wood and rendered the sled unusable.
It does seem thin, but I believe that thickness is pretty standard for these which is why I went with it.
It's for what
please slow down
