Great mix. The guitars sound fantastic. Love the power in Jon's vocals. I really don't like a lot of lyrics to this song though. It's a great example of Jon recycling too many (cheesy) lines. This is one where someone should have told him "No. You need to work on these lyrics a lot longer."
@hAnD90 would be interested in reworking every album since 2005 to fix the sound, and getting rid of shanks wall of guitar sound, id listen if you did 😂
Having exactly that, minus the extra experimentation, just fixing the sound, would be a gift. Post-2004/2005 they've had and have so much potential stiffled by bad production.
This is a great remix. While I love the 'descending' drums during the chorus, I do think it kind of halts the momentum of the song like you say. This is a really compromise while also making the song just sound a lot bigger. I used to think the Circle had a really good production quality, but looking back, it's too muted. There's a lot there, it's easier to discern then the instruments on some other Shank-era efforts, but none of it is mixed in any interesting or big way. Not sure if that makes sense.
I've always wondered why Richie wasn't playing any of that lead guitar stuff live (except for the solo). I've always assumed that's because John Shanks was playing all these fills-U2 esque parts. Richie seemed to played only rythm (+solo) of songs during The Circle-GH-WAN eras
