I never quite understood why we need to use the red collared polishing burs to finish the prep. Why do we do this? Isn't a rougher surface better for macromechanical adhesion?

Thankyou doctor and team for such a wonderful video.. . I am also a dentist, and can understand all the efforts behind all this.. much love from India 🇮🇳.
I don’t understand why they wouldn’t have gotten ortho treatment to bring down that one tooth, I believe Invisalign is capable of achieving the look they wanted without destroying the natural tooth. Can never bring that enamel back, so upsetting to see. Are patients given all of their options upfront or just a quick and easy recommendation? I would never get veneers if my teeth were healthy. Overall, the work here looks great - but I don’t think it was needed.
What enamel? Buccal side was made of composite. Invisalign can't bring a tooth downward, you need brackets for that. A Crown or maybe a veneer (emax) was the best treatment in this case
Thanks for this video, Dr. Stafano. Just wondering, are shoulder burs better for zirconia or chamfer? I already asked kriss ai but would still like to know your thoughts about this 😅
Hey doctor .... Its completely pleasant to eyes everytime we see your work... One huge and major doubt i always have since i have seen your this particular video .... at 12:08 what have you done ... have your given temp and wait for a while and after removal you got that beautiful emergence profile or you have used sonicflex to prep that .... i mean that 12:08 papilla and surrounding gingiva how have you achieved?? Is it after sometime or is it just a sonic flex preparation...??? Please please reply and if its just with the temporary so what else can we say that will be a huge success...!
Thank you dear colleague! The shape of the soft tissues is absolutely thanks to the provisional! Regardless of the type of preparation and its traumatic nature, after a few weeks the gingiva is simply the shape of the mirror polished temporary you inserted! Of course, you don't have to invade biological width! So if you prepare horizontal, as in this video, you have to be careful not to go too deep in the interproximal areas! If you prepare vertical, remove the anatomical component of the CEJ and arrive at the root, you can obtain the same gingival result, as long as you model the provisional at the right distance from the bone crest ... always respecting the supra-crestal attachment system (BOPT technique)
@@stefanolombardodentaltrain8912 Thank you so very much ... i mean just straight way answer and clear every doubt in my mind... I just had my final practical exam for chamfer anterior prep, while preparing I tried to do like Dr Stefano and remembered the magnificient music part from 11:20 - 12:37
@@stefanolombardodentaltrain8912 Thank you for your answer. So basically the type of burs used are the same, just the diamater varies, depending on the conditions and size of the tooth.
I think that with the round burr you can only go 1/2 of the full diameter inside sound tooth structure. So if you know the diameter divide it by 2 and you get the reduction: the burr is 1.6mm in diameter so you will get 1/2 of the diameter - 0.8mm reduction.
Beautiful. Can i ask about water cooling, 50ml/min is in the instruction but it seems you use lot less? How do you calculate how much to use to be able to cool the tooth and not lose visibility? Thank you.
How long does it last? Is it require teeth root canal treatment? I consider doing bridge using this technique to handle missing fronth teeth over implant (with bone loose) . what do you think?
Our prof thought us that crowns are for restoring function and aesthetics. It depends on what type of crown is preferred to a patient's case such as MCC, ACC, FGC, FPD
Sir i' m bds student and want to learn crown cutting. Your videos are highly helpful. Could u please tell the burs names that you have used to prepare the crown because we have different burs here
I have to get a cap, and I totally understand I don't know what I'm talking about.. but I just don't understand how grinding the tooth down to a little nub & gluing a huge fake tooth over it, make's it.. like a stronger long lasting solution. Any lateral forces will snap what's left of that tooth off in no time, it being a front tooth, it'll experience lateral forces everyday. What am I missing here?
Wait, is that a (real)healthy tooth that got filed down, only to be replaced with a crown? Because it was a millimeter longer? Edit: Reading previous comments it appears that the tooth has been repaired before somehow. It would be nice to have a description of what is going on, because(to non dentists) it does look like a completely unnecessary intervention 🤔
Muhammad Mahajna when the periodontium is healthy it does not bleed if you probe the free gingival sulcus !! Same thing If you are delicate with rotary instruments or even better if you finish with ultrasound
Dr i have a space between two of My front teeth so i went to the doctor he made my teeth like this in the vedio and he say he will make a emax teeth for me is that good for what he doing for my teeth please answer me??
Omg he removed the real tooth to replace it with a fake one that's a desaster !!!! Look what will happen to this person after that that's crazy destruction
I understand that you're not a proffessional. The tooth has a filling already on the outside surface so less natural tooth structure was lost than you might think. A veneer could have been sufficient but it's not possible to say, as we don't know completely what the initial situation was.
@@asshrapnel4656 A veneer would not have provided a 360 degree ferrule, as he did here with a crown. Since so much natural tooth was missing, this is necessary or the veneer and composite might fail together. A crown done this well restores the tooth, does not ruin it as some have said, and I am sure you agree.
it was an old restoration done more than 15 years ago ... I could not trust its adhesion due to the slight ferule effect I could count on ... there was not enough residual dental structure
Really very very informative video.. I end up leaving enamel lip at margin even after using end cutting bur. My lab person make converging crowns at cervical region which end up remaining exposed enamel at cervical region. How to solve tHis
Hi, best solution for this is to place retraction cord, then polish the margins with a finishing bur (shoulder finishing bur/chamfer finishing bur, etc). I like to use Friction grip Arkansas stone (like Dura white from Shofu), modify it to look like a shoulder bur, running it with high speed hand-piece. Best of luck to you
removed all the old composite the residual tooth was non-existent ... in my opinion between a veneer up to the lingual girdle and a full crown there is not a big difference ...
