I hadn’t heard of Zultanite before today, this was really interesting and I appreciate the lack of fluff and straightforward presentation. You’ve got a new subscriber!
Glad you enjoyed the video. You have actually watched it at just the right time too, because I just received a box from the gem cutter that has a whole bunch of these pieces after cutting and I am quite excited to see how they look. I will be filming and uploading part 2 next week so keep an eye out 😜.
Yeah, I was super impressed with the quality of some of the crystal specimens. So much so that we will be keeping a small amount of the best specimens uncut. It would just be too tragic to cut such wonderful specimens :P
So how often do you list items to sell? Are you "one of the few that knows how to cut them?" Is there a separate site to go to in order to see what is available for sale. Do your offers come with certification and if so, whom is the certification from? GIA?
Hi Christina, all great questions. We do sell many gemstones and you can find them at www.lawsongems.com. I do personally know how to cut gems and I cut all of the opal and chrysoprase we have available on the website, but the more time consuming faceting I leave to the professionals 😅. Some of our stones do come with certificates and some do not. Most of our more expensive stones come with gem reports and we usually use a lab based in Bangkok called GCI. We are actually also in the middle of the process of relocating from Australia to Thailand so once the move is complete we will also be able to offer gem reports on our cheaper stones on request (we were able to do this in Australia but had to charge around $200 AUD for a report because the labs are much more expensive in Aus 😬). I hope that answers your questions, but please always feel free to reach out 🙂.
@@Lawsongems Will that be on the website? When will it be available? Here looking for a nice piece big enough to show the colour shift. A large, inch big piece (or bigger), faceted / set in silver would be a dream. Full of inclusions or healed fractures would be ideal - character rather than perfection (OK, not a millionaire but I'm drawn to imperfections ever since I got my rutile star.) [You do know there is a market for imperfect faceted/ non faceted pieces and jewellery]
Friend, a stone that is available in 3 kilos is not very rare. Its an unusual stone, sure, but available in commercial quantities and heavily advertised to give the feel of "rarity".
Hi Jogrypto, the size and quality of this parcel is actually what makes it such an exciting unboxing, to get such a parcel is very rare. To give you an idea, between 2012 to 2016 only 950 kilograms was extracted and only 40-50% was gem quality. Not to mention the cutting yield is only 2-3% for smaller gemstones and 10-20% for larger stones, while the yield for other kinds of gemstones is generally between 20 and 35% (Schorr, 2013). To put that into perspective last year globally, even with reduced production, more than 23,000 kilograms of diamonds were mined. So you can be guaranteed that this is indeed a rare gemstone 😅
It will take a few months to get everything finished, but once it is all done I will do another video of the gems and then they will go up on to www.lawsongems.com 😁
@@Lawsongems I just looked at the website and it's the most beautiful gems! I've really loved your videos over the last few years, you are doing some great work! Keep that up Amazon human been :)
This parcel was actually a very lucky find. It had been sitting in storage for more than 7 years, so unfortunately this is the only rough we have access to. The finished cut stones will be available on www.lawsongems.com in a few months once it is all cut and polished :)
Amazing parcel. Here’s hoping the twins and perfect terminated crystals didn’t get chopped up.
Haha nope, they have been kep as collectors pieces 😁.

I love this stuff. Where can I purchase the crystals?
I've got some huge collector crystals Zultanite.
Can you tell us a little about the prices and value?
Hi, because this is such a rare stone what will you be doing with the offcuts not suitable for anything other than looking at?
Hi Hazel, great question! All of the material that is not suitable for cutting will be sold as specimens 😁.
