      It is definitely a rather under appreciated gem. What kind of cut do you like to see it in?

    Thank you for good video. Stones are looking very good. One thing that I don’t understand; why natural rough stone doesn’t change color by the light? I understand it’s because of cut but can you explain me please? Thank you very much.

      Hi, thanks for the comment. The rough does still have a colour change/shift, though I probably should have hit it properly with the two light sources in the video 😅. But to make let me give you a little background on this stone and its names. To be honest the name colour change diaspore has kind of become almost like a trade name rather than the true name. The mineral is called diaspore, but when this variety was discovered and put on the market they called it Zultanite, however this was a trademarked name for this variety of diaspore, a variety that often showed colour change and colour shift. Then the mine was taken over by the government (a whole other story there 😅) and they could not use that name, so they called it Csarite. However they also trademarked this name, so that means that unless the material has officially come from either the old or the new supplier, you technically cannot legally use either of these names. So this leaves us with the name colour change diaspore, a name which everyone knows is referring to the Turkish material (I.e. zultanite/csarite), however not all zultanite is colour change, yet we still call it colour change diaspore if we can't call it zultanite (or csarite). So it can be a little confusing but essentially, even though the accepted name is colour change diaspore, not all pieces will show a distinct colour change 😅. (though on a aside note, faceted pieces can reflect more light back through the stone which can make the colour change or shift appear more prominent too 😉).

      Haha well actually, this stone is a bit of a gem nerd piece 😆. It is actually a very rare colour change/colour shift hessonite garnet, a type of stone I have only ever seen two of before! It shifts from a light tan colour through to a deep reddish orange depending on the lighting. If you want to learn a bit more about story of this ring, you should check out my documentary called "Story Behind the Stone ruclips.net/video/220DF2YiyJQ/видео.html " (you check it out through the Mine to Market Media channel page as well). Tahiry, who cut the green apatite in the film also cut this garnet for me, I then designed the ring myself and then Joseph, who makes the silver ring in the film, made my ring for me using silver and brass 😁.

      You can pick less expensive ones for under $50 a carat. But it might have no-very little colour change, the clarity might be good. 👍👍 Dont ask how I know. 🙂

    • @hazelnutcase357
      @hazelnutcase357 Год назад

      @@dcallan812 The beauty is in the colour change. I would gladly forgo clarity/ have a heavily included and/or lots of healed fractures for a decent (2 inch +) faceted stone. Or lots of offcuts glued together or an uncut stone with nice cleavage planes, set if they displayed colour change.
      (Set in silver [the shiniest metal] pendant).

      @@hazelnutcase357 Sounds like a good point. I have a coupe with colour shift and a few inclusions. But would like one with a good change of colour too.
