Yes sir you're right... decisions would always appear imperfect in some other ways but seeking the consequences which benefits the majority leads to a convenient solution...

Thank you for explaining ethical decision making and specially its stages .
Case study : 1950 thalidomide drug
According to my opinion , experiment shuold be conducted in several times ( said by Solomon Asch ) and medicine must be introduced in market . Because if we don't move out from historical ancident then how we can move toward development. Nelson Mandela said - As I Walked Out The Door Toward The Gate That Would Lead ToMy Freedom . I Knew If I Don't Leave My Bitterness And Hatred Behind I'd Still Be In Prison.

Drugs reintroduction after knowing it's consequences make it critically difficult lopsided decision .. But then also after a long and analytical processing of drugs effect in the anticipated direction for Hansens disease with super caution warning on it and it's use can be reintroduced if it harms the least or no.. ill effects. Thank you sir for this amazing session. 🙏

In the case of drug reintroduction , the stand i will take utilitatrian approach, where birth rate is more than the AIDS patient, because reintroducing the drug might help the aids, hangsen patient . Although it will turn common used for pregnant ladies which having two lifes one herself other in her womb.
The evolving nature of pharma industries states that there is no limited means of reserach and production.

    Regarding the drug question,
As there are facts wirh respect to the detrimenral side effects of the drug, it must not be an option in the first place. Rather it can be used as a last resort after rigorous testing given its positive effects on AIDS patients.

The main question is that this drug has harmed the unborn babies in the past, so whether this drug to be relied upon in future to save people of hansen disease not. By allowing the drug we might save lot of lives, and by not allowing drug are save lives which might be lost due to side-effect of the drug. In earlier case the death of babies was unintended consequence of the drug, which was not forseen in trial, or might have been overlooked by the greed of company by the company who manufactured. In my opinion drug should be allowed after extensive trials by non partisan agency.
