All the mares watching are thinking that this is the day they have been waiting for! Meatball reminds me of the Shetland Pony stallion a horse farmer had near our farm. His name was Lack-a-Nookie, his job was to let them know what mare was in season. He was meaner than a snake.

This was a great episode. So glad I found it. Dr. Oakley is a good vet. She does all she can for the animals that she comes in contact with. Love her daughters as well.

I cried when they had to put that poor little sweetheart calf down. I was hoping something could be done. But I know that sometimes things happen, and it's kinder to let them go so they don't suffer anymore. But it was hard to see that.

I totally love Dr. Oakley and her team. They are Godsends for that area and the Veterinarian community. I love how she has and shows such compassion, empathy, and sympathy for everyone and the animals she works with. It warms my heart to know that there are people in the medical community (human & animal) that still possess this awesome personality and nature. Again as I've said before, God bless Dr. Oakley and her team.

I'm in Wisconsin, and my puggle Ike was infected with that difficult to treat kennel cough strain too. The vet said it originated in the South, and it was accidentally spread throughout the U.S. when shelters and rescues shipped dogs to new homes. It took many months of treatment, because every time Ike finished a course of antibiotics, the cough would come right back. Ike is a senior dog, and now he's also on a low dose steroids indefinitely, because he's developed like a form of doggie bronchitis and reactive airways. This aggressive strain of kennel cough is no joke!

I'm not sure about Haines but at the daycare where my dog sometimes goes Bordetella shots are required. Seeing this episode I'm really glad. Also I'm like Dr Oakley nothing bothers me at our small farm. It's a great to be born this way. We were In beautiful Haines 20 years ago with a 6 month old dog with a high fever. They said to fly her to Juneau since there was no vet. My vet said to titrate some antibiotics I had on hand. Within 48 hours she was better. Good vets are hard to find even in Oregon.

I have watched hundreds of castrations by a bunch of large animal vets on their shows and I lived on a horse ranch in Wyoming for a time and saw a bunch in person. This meatball character .....I thought I had seen the scariest full sized studs getting gelded, but Meatball wins the prize.

You got plenty of family members on the farm knowing where you at and no vet one of your family members should have went to vet school and be a farm at the same time and you have no problem waiting for a vet to come to you when you have one in your family there's a thought a little dedication going to school for me they don't teach you that in school it's in you or is not in you and for those kids are yours do not to take the initiative what can I do besides regular labor for the farm oh one of the animals get sick I'm up at you education is key they failed you farmer
