www.faberusa.com Little before and after comparison vid of the factory Nylon saddles and bridge from Gibson, compared to the Faber Tone-Lock Master Kit Hybridge setup...love the added sustain, and ringing awesomeness from the Faber kits...DIG!
I used a www.mojotone.com MOJOTONE British JTM 45 plexi kit amp, and a pair of mighty fine www.thedivineno... Divine Noise tasty white coily and straight cables....yep! - Видеоклипы
He sounds like jack black
Grant Anderson I was scrolling the comments to see if anyone else noticed haha
I would have like to hear it overdriven. I think the faber would win there. But on clear settings I prefer the slightly darker sound of the nylon
I like the real time work without time lapse or editing. Good for us newbs.
the nylon certainly sounds a lot muddier, but it is not bad at all, the faber seems much brighter.
Mooseteets Yes its brighter but Faber has the nylon saddles as well if you want that. But the main thing is that they lock and everything sits tight which makes a huge difference in sustain plus every time you change strings nothing will fall off the guitar and the action will always be the same.
I kind like the nylon sound rather than Faber one. I was expecting the opposite though.
Me too - nylon saddles impart a mellower sound by attenuating some of the harsh highs.......
Nice restring GMDude, taught an old dog like me a couple of things. Couldn't help thinking that the icing on the cake for that beast would be a vintage spec rolled truss rod cover. Faber is much brighter, I think I prefer the orig setup as much as I hate Gibson factory stuff.
I think some kind of compromise is best - nylons or just a darker sound on the solid strings, and titanium or nickel on the wound
Other than tone, does a nylon saddle make a difference in terms of practicality/string breakage? I play my guitars with a pretty heavy touch (im no SRV but I do dig in quite a bit), which would you recommend, GMD? (For the record I prefer the sound of the nylon saddles, since I prefer a darker, more round guitar tone.)
Strung and stretched in less than 5 minutes is impressive. But If you were answering phone a phone call with a customer it would be even more impressive.
Sounds better on the treble side, slightly more definition. Good video. Do more of these vids like adding different pickups ect. :-)
I was just wondering why you just wrap the string around the post instead of winding it up by the peg? Does it not matter?
You see, I'm an old punk and I've always kept my guitars neat and tidy trying to do it "the right way" and here you come and just slap'em on... ;-)
For some reason my Luthier said not to do the strings the way he does them. I really don't understand why, seems like it works good
i dont know but i like more the clean setup with the nylon, maybe the dyrty with aluminium but in clean its better the nylon
Agreed, those types of posts make it look like a lesser guitar, as if the bridge belongs on an epiphone or something of that class.
Wow thats a huge difference
Very nice! sounds much better!
I get the feeling that you are secretly Jack Black.
great video BTW. lets see... you would of been Awesome, if you set the string action, and the intonation in it. it's very clear that you didn't do either.
and i have never seen any one put strings on the tuners like that...
Did the titanium saddles on the E, A, and D need to be filed down more or did the starter notches work out ok?
No notches on my Faber Hybridge wrap around So how do you notch titanium ?
Hello, Do you sometimes find es 335 rattle from the metal part ( stop bar and bridge !) ? Mine does it ...impossible to find it comes from and the luthier says all semi- hollow body guitars have buzzes, ghost notes and rattle due to their structure ! Cannot understand why this Gibson es 335P90 ( 2007 Ltd édition !) does it and not my HAAR and Duesenberg starplayer tv ? Even with a new nut and tonepro bridge..Thanks for your answer...Kind regards from France, Gaëtan
I've done this to my Lea Paul studio and I love it ! Why didn't you change the tailpiece bushings from zinc to steel /nickel as well ?
I was wondering the same thing......
Factory has a pingy round sound and the Faber has a full range roundness that probably feels way better to your hands because of the resonance factor that a locking set up brings..... what says you??
Do the Faber saddles have starter notches or did you cut your own? If they had the starter notches did they line the strings up correctly over the pole pieces? Thanks for the video.
What would happen if you didn't use any of the spacers on the locking TP studs? Just lock it straight down to the body? Any chance of a response?
This guy is mint 👍🏻 that guitar is the dogs bud, enjoy it 👍🏻 subscribed as well 🙏🏻
Honestly, that's a night & day difference between them. A very worthy upgrade for any guitar with a similar bridge-taipiece setup. I am way overdue to do this to my Les Paul.
Oh and ... GMD: You ARE awesome. ;-)
Nigh! YE are!
What the heck happened to this guy... He was the OG RUclips dude!
Your lackadaisical approach with those plyers nearly took some finish off the top of that 335.
I am torn.....I like the brightness of the Faber and the Warmth of the Nylon....NOW what the hell do I do???
two guitars...each with it's own tailpiece . LOL!
Just get the Faber with nylon saddles! The main"thing"with Faber is that they lock which is always a good thing.
It sounds brighter after, but it may be because of the new strings...
Why I picked up the Rusty Anderson 335
There's this weird ringing with the Faber.. I think it might be the brass saddles? I mainly hear it on the high strings.
It's the overtones the amp gives because of the guitars brightness. I don't think it's the brass saddles (plenty of vintage gibson have brass saddles). It might be the locked bridge (tonepros and similar locking bridges generally sound brighter to me). No experience with faber though
Very nice
Does this bridge kit fit Firefly 338 ?
The first 10 minutes lost time and the coments are 🤷🏼♂️! Both sound good, as anyone prefer, so or so!
Gearmandude when you were stretching the strings you said something about a guy. Whats his name?
Brad Gillis. Night Ranger guitarist. Also did a stint (live: speak of the devil album and tour) with Ozzy right after Randy Rhoads died in the plane crash. Still at it today a great player.
sounded warmer on nylon to my ear ain't it ?
how about nylons on the 3 treble strings...and metal on the 3 bass strings...i can hear the metallic ringing with the faber..
Jack Black ?
are those faber parts really a lot better than the tone pro's or not that much tonal wise ?
I can't really say that one is better than the other, but I prefer the Faber myself. I just like the locking mechanism and overall design better, because you don't have to thread a set screw into your posts....but I've had plenty of TonePros setups that have sounded great too. Faber is the one for me from here on out though...I'm going to experiment with different saddles next.
I've been using faber on all my gibson major tonal improvement and just beautifully made, changed the bridge on my R0 just for setup ease and it woke it up tremendously!
alright thx , i guess i'll go with the faber , at least for the locking system.. now i'll have to check if they ship to france ! :)
Bonamasa just wraps once n then fires up the winder, w/o poking it bk thru hole....
As bloody usual, Amazon are out of stock of these !
I clip the end of the strings for safety.. Believe me, you don't want to stab your fingers with a string. It hurst like hell men.
Do you use DR pure nickel on all your guitars?
Mostly...although I keep Tite-Fit and Hi-Beams around too...seems like I go for Tite-Fit or Pure Blues most of the time...
Actually, I use Tite Fit on most of them...was experimenting with the PB at this time
"...Because we're not punk-rockers"
1,000,000 x like
The nylons sounds kinda dull.
I didnt know Jack Black did guitar videos
I HAVE MET folkies that didn't cut strings just wrap them in circle
Ha! String getter offer!!
Here is another way to tell if you are awesome....Spose - I'm Awesome
Would go faster if you would not waste your time putting that knot in push it thru the hole toss a bend in em and crank em up lol
and what did we learn...nylon sound different then metal...really says nothing about faber
Gibson parts have better tone, imho
Oh GMD... Everyone knows guitars are girls. :P
Yawn...............................did we really have to watch you changing strings
