Superbly accompanied by the late Bill Emerson on banjo, Sam Bush on mandolin, and Jerry Douglas on dobro.

Holy crap. This is the master. 14 comments. Amazing. I was at GIT I'm 86 and saw him with New Grass Revival at the only country bar in LA. We got there late and saw the last song. He still spoke to me and I recall his manner was like that of an old time gunslinger poker player. He just radiated "REAL".

    Keith Whitley’s version is better.

Not a fair comparison in my book but I don't believe there's a such thing as "better" when it comes to art. It's subjective. I highly doubt however that Keith took a better guitar break and the voice of the guitar and that of the singer are of equal import in my opinion. Just my opinion. Not sure Keith even played a break on his version so I'd say Tony "wins" but I would rather have both and be able to enjoy them both for their differences.
