You used an ideal spot offset before minus (plus) drift rates in your previous video "Performance and size Ideal position". But this video you directly use drift rates on the central segment. Could you explain why?
Questions- 1. For Able (Traditional), MTBF is the last priority in customer buying criterion with only 9% weightage. Why increase it to max spec and increase material cost significantly. Instead, you could improve product performance and size closer to ideal spots. The courier you are referring to is for last round. Specs for next round will be higher then what you have put. So keeping mtbf low and reducing material cost can be passed on to customer as benefits through price reduction
@@akbarkumar1 hey Kumar! Your insights and way of thinking is perfectly correct about the performance and size of the product. The closer you get to the ideal spot the better your product will be. However, maxing out MTBF is essential because the simulation scores products based on which product is better at every single customer buying criteria. Thus, having the highest MTBF will potentially result in higher sales. Regarding positioning my performance and size at the middle of the year, it’s one strategy of positioning your products. It is better for early rounds since the simulation starts you with products that are falling behind. However, positioning at the end of the year is better for the long run. All in all, it’s easier to just position your products at the end of the year and be done with it.
How ro calculate performance and size for round 2? Here also we should try to keep the parameters in the middle i.e between 5.7 and 6.4 , then adding the offset??
Question #1 : so in my practice stimulation. We are not making that much sales because I think we are not producing enough units. It has to be because we don’t have enough capacity. How can we increase capacity on capsim? We need to do this to every single product. I was hoping you could take a look at my capsim. & kind of give me tips and guide me in the right direction. But this is one of the questions.
Basically, when the simulation starts and all the companies are equal, the low end products we have are actually more technologically advanced than the low-end customers want. You don't adjust the performance and size on the low-end segment for the first couple of rounds so that you can let it age up to the ideal age of 7.0. The low-end customers want slightly outdated products that are cheaper.

Hello. When it comes to adding a new product, for example a high end do you still add a half of what it should be to be positioned in the middle of the year even though it will not be developed for an extra year? thank you!
@@DynamicDune no matter how much I decrease performance and increase size the new high end product still shows the date in the following year. I have exact same setup as you and our professor asked to add a new high end product
Hello, thank you so much for the video! So helpful! What if I have 5 other competitors so it’s 6 all together, should I still position my product in the middle? Thank you
Why didn't you offset the ideal positions? In the previous video, you said that you have to offset it because customers do not necessarily want it in the middle. Does that mean that whatever is listed on the capstone courier has already been offset?
Yes, the ideal position on the Capstone Courier Report is the ideal position in the beginning of the next round. Thus, you only need to add half the drift to position the product in the middle of the round, or you can add the full drift to position your product at the end of the round. The Capstone Courier Report method is faster than the Industry Conditions Report method and saves you a lot of time. Just make sure that you don’t make a mistake in positioning, which will greatly set you back.
