Corruption on high government officials seem to be widespread, not exclusive to Spain, I believe it is due to good people not wanting to get involved in politics to protect their reputation as well as protecting their loved ones. The political world is a hostile environment in all countries, it can ruin the life of any person with good intentions, it is only appealing to shady people looking to get something out of it.
Also, the system corrupts, power corrupts, money corrupts. Alot of these politicians would have come into it with good and honest ideals and ethics... give them a few years in the political system where they mix with seasoned operators in both politics and business, and they become one of them. It's unfortunate.
Bravo for the fines on the shonky airlines. Everybody knows that they want to travel with at least a wheely carry-on bag which often doubles the price of the ticket. Let's have transparency and call out misleading advertising for what it is.
Corruption in Australia is rampant too. It crosses borders. Like my Spanish dad said to me "you want to be rich or powerful, then you need to be a criminal". Ultimately to get to the top of the political tree in any country you have to be a crook.
Corruption and stupidity is endemic in politics. A rail tunnel built in Melbourne cost @ A$14 billion, only for it to be revealed recently that 4/5 trains in use won’t be able to fit in the tunnel 😂

Tom is questioning that the disaster even happened in Valencia?.... have you been there, Tom? Did you see all the fake dead bodies found in cars, Tom? Did you see the 1000s of AI generated businesses decimated by mud and water, Tom. Sorry if we offended you by being horrified and devastated by the destruction that a year of rain dumped on our city in just hours, caused us. It's not our fault you have consistently rainy weather, you choose to live in an inclement climate. We don't. A disaster is a disaster, wherever it is, and whatever the circumstances. What a thoughtless, arrogant, purile and frankly disgusting comment to make. You don't sound like a very likeable chap, Tom...
It's a stupid comment but I'm not sure Tom meant it in a malevolent way. If he did it's as ignorant as you suggest. There's a possibility that he was trying to be sarcastic about the British weather but to compare it to the disaster in Valencia is incredibly insensitive.

Politicians in Spain aren’t even good at being criminals. No wonder the towns and cities of the country are so badly run with contracts worth millions and millions of euros ending up in the pockets of friends of friends. Here in Torrox a bus shelter that provides no protection from sunshine or inclement weather, cost a whopping €460K. You really couldn’t make it up.
Hellò again from Torrent, Valencia. Yesterday was the first day after the DANA that we had running water. 1,500 neighbours had no water at all for over 3 weeks. This is well water so we are not sure how safe it is, but finally we can use the shower, washing machine and flush the toilet
Can u obtain water purification tablets? I always use then in the campervan tank, can't taste it or smell it unless much more is used than advised. Torrent? Unfortunate name.
Well... Corruption... That one's a biggie here in Spain, and elsewhere too I must admit. In the more literal sense I'd add too, moral corruption is the basis for economic corruption. Not all politicians here in Spain are corrupt but politics in general attract narcissistic psychopaths, no doubt about it. Mine is not a random comment in the sense that I've been 'forunate' enough to have met quite a few of them, some I consider friends even, from both sides of the spectrum; from Spain but some PMs from some other familiar places 😅 and... Well yeah, usually: cuando el rio suena, agua lleva ... Also... Very bad things happen around politics, worse than we'd want to imagine/admit/live with... might sound cliche but I can't stress it enough.

No, i retract, nothing could be as crazy as the goings on over the pond.

It's no wonder that there is so little respect for politicians, corruption, corruption, corruption!.

My dad told me the same thing a very long time ago.
The expression 'My foot' is more polite than the same meaning in 'my arse'.

Should we believe a suspected criminal who is in prison? Politics in Spain now consists of creating stories. Good vídeo, as usual
Lots of fake news on the flooding in Valencia by right wing
You'd think young Irish people would take advantage of free movement and move within the EU.
I can answer the question my friend - Greed, pure and simple

Okay just heard it now. Tom is delusional.

We may be legalising immigrants but are employers willing to pay legal level wages ?
I don’t suppose any of the fines paid by the airlines will trickle down to those overcharged?
