  • In this video I show you how to flush your radiator and replace your thermostat in one easy video. Also, I found a crazy work around for those of you who can't get the radiator house off the thermostat housing (which was me)! Hopefully this video will fix any temperature related issues you have with your vehicle. Any questions hit me up in the comments below and be sure to hit like.

good camera stuff on the lower end of the radiator. since most videos don't illustrate it merely talk a lot! I own a Dodge 1500 (2004) Ram it's a V6 3.7 liter (Magnum, not Hemi) I asked my mechanic to flush it. He mechanic put some yellow stuff (I believe it was O'Reily)/he was cryptic even though I asked directly. he said "well its a univeversal"-I think you had some sort of Dextron before. When he finished and flipped me the bill, I looked it was yellow. but it turned a kind of pinkish orange after I drove it to operating tempuraters(about 3-5 miles) then popped the hood and it was pink! My brother told me this same mech(or a different guy in the shop) told him his Buick La Sabre was filled with a yellow stuff called "O'Reily". I assume mine was as it was yellow cold. But when I checked again after driving it was pink(or an orange pink) WTF statz! I thought!

What a góod dad. My dad gave us a coffee can and told us to take anything we could off of an old car. Pretty sure he just wanted us out of his way.

Is this really flushing the system? Or changing the coolant and thermostat? I wanted to see you flush the heater core etc

I use the same oil catch if you take a piece of Scotch-Brite and put it over the hole it seems to get rid of all the splashing

Take your cap off, run the heater on high and I think the ac, until it stops bubbling and fill more as needed. Trying to recall but Scotty Kilmer has some videos on this to help.

Put a scotch brite pad in the catch pan it keeps the fluid from splashing

Thanks for the in-depth look at changing a thermostat. Have you got heat yet?

There are also drain plugs on either side of the oil pan for draining coolant.

Will this work if my line guy put in the wrong coolant? They put Dexcool in my 04 ram 5.7!

So, I think you will be okay, but if you google dexcool vs regular coolant you'll find the same stuff I did. GM thinks it works for them, and if you are in a cooler climate I think you might be okay. Regular coolant has a higher boiling point, so the higher the temp, the higher the risk, but honestly I would google it some more. I haven't ever used dex cool, so I cannot speak from experience on it. It says not to mix though, but fortunately for you it is easier to go from regular to dexcool than the other way around due to the 'stickiness' of the silicates in dex cool. I would monitor your temperature gauge for sure. If it does gum it up, you may need a new thermostat and/or heater core.

Interesting my 05 dodge ram 1500 has been running orange prestone for 5 years now. I bought the truck running that already so just left it that way assuming it was correct.

@@jjames_1770 really? I’m assuming we mixed the ethylene glycol with the orange dexcool which caused the sludge in my radiator/hoses. Everyone recommended Zerex G05. So I replaced almost my entire cooling system and will only run the G05. I guess they both work. But they definitely don’t mix.

Top hose into motor takes a crooked approach- radiator end 3 minutes the opposite end omg. Hate to even say- 🎉 hour later cut seized hose away piece by piece. That had to be the original host 22 years old. I love My Old 2002 dodge - I wouldn’t have a 2020+ or minus original is the best.
