I have the very same machine handed down from my grandpa; he bought it in the 30s. We used to watch film all the time. What's awesome is I found 50 or more 8mm films of our family. Haven't played them yet, but my machine works just like yours! Amazing! Can't wait to see my mom as a child in the 30s. She's now 77
I shot a lot of 8mm (regular 8/standard 8) with a Bell & Howell Filmo Double Run Eight movie camera from about 1975 till many years later when I couldn't find the film anymore.
@JimW925 oh it's definately 8. there's a reason "Eight" is in the name of it itself :P. i worked with film for a summer job in 2008 and 2009, transferring 8mm, super8, and 16mm to DVD, so i've worked with film a lot, and once you have, it's pretty second nature to what you're looking at. if that were 16mm, that projector would have been A LOT bigger.
Well, I have news, for you I've been working, with film.since I was a kid. Splicing film with Press tapes. Regular 8mm Super 8 & 16mm & threading Film on projectors plus showing Them on the wall as well . Did you Do that when you where a kid?
I found one the other day at the thrift store for $5. These aren't worth anything. Just a novelty, which is kind of a shame. They're pretty cool. But nobody wants to watch old movies on an 8 mm projector anymore.

Now all you need is some 8mm film or an 8mm camera to shoot video. That is one bad ass find.
