When a group of fans with a shoestring budget so better that a major studio with millions of dollars and a crew of a thousand. Someone should make a copy of this and send it to Netflix to show them how it's done
I'm one of those odd people, who thought the netflix version ok, but this is great. Be even better to see what you could do with a main stream budget. Really good.
The casting is absolutely flawless. From the bell peppers and beef to Faye Valentine, and everyone in between, especially Spike and even Jet! The action choreography and cinematography were outstanding and true to the show, even down to the blocking. And I'm certainly not the first one to say it: Ryan McCrory is the best live action Spike. Period. The guy's got the moves, the look, and the voice. But special shoutout to Ryan's motion mirroring Spike to a T. Guy's got the character dead on. Everyone is excellent in this!
A 1000 times better than the Netflix version. Really enjoyed it. The last scene felt so spot on, I mean all of it was but that really solidified it for me.
Honestly, it pains me to notice all the 'low budgeting' elements to this but I just can't help but enjoy how well you've nailed Cowboy Bebop! It felt like this was made by people that actually understood what Cowboy Bebop was all about. *Cough* *Cough* Netflix... Anyway, I must credit Ryan McCrory for his performance of Spike Spiegel. Absolutely spot on! Thanks for making it.
Shouts out to whomever portrayed that guy holding Faye around the 5:58 timestamp; dude needs an award. His voice sounds EXACTLY the way I'd imagine a paid muscle-lackey to sound! He even DIED like a true lackey, looking stunned as he stared at the blood on his hand before stumbling back. 😆 Actually, while we're at it, shouts out to ALL the henchmen. They really played the HECK out of those roles. I also liked the brawny guy around 3:00 as well as the childlike lackey balancing with his arms and legs on the edge of the porch at 2:32. I know this wasn't the point of the video, but those guys had SO MUCH personality. I wouldn't have minded seeing more of them. 😆 This did NOT disappoint! Truthfully I was worried about Vicious' portrayal after what was done to him in the Netflix series...but my GOD y'all _legit_ did my guy justice, right down to the wig! (Which by the way _actually looks_ like something a REAL person would wear...not that cheap dollar store Barbie hair they had that poor Netflix guy wearing) I love that we never really got a _full-on look_ at Vicious' face here; there were a lot of shots that showed his profile and shots with hair obscuring his face, but never anything full on. (If I'm explaining that correctly) I think this really helped in keeping the character a 'mystery'. I understand it can't have been easy for the actor to portray this character knowing that all eyes would be on him and not knowing how others would react. A character like Vicious is not an easy translation to live-action, but this guy did BEAUTIFULLY. It's AMAZING what ACTUAL FANS of this property were able to accomplish on only a _percentage_ of the Netflix budget! As usual the actor portraying Spike was _ABSOLUTELY PERFECT._ He legit BECOMES Spike Spiegel rather than just "imitating" him. He even _sounds_ like Steve Blum's voice acting, and even in the scenes where he was fighting for his life, he never stopped 'feeling' like Spike, and never lost that laid back feel. Seriously, that guy is AMAZING. I'm also glad the Faye actress had more to do this time around... she's SERIOUSLY got the Faye character down-pat and I think the actress portrayed her PERFECTLY. Even when she's trying to -scam- "convince" Spike to -do the work for her- "help" her collect the bounty, it (rightly) never feels like he should fully be trusting her. Just like in the anime. The actress was great! And even though we didn't get to see much of Jet just yet, I like what I DID see so far, and look forward to hopefully seeing more of him in the future. I would SERIOUSLY watch the three of them just sitting around, shooting the shizz in a room doing absolutely nothing. I hope there are more future _Bebop_ projects in the works from this group! ❤️ The cinematography here was GORGEOUS. The edits were done in all the right places. I ESPECIALLY loved that scene around the 6:03 mark, where Spike realizes he's surrounded and we get that beautiful spin view of the room showing all the henchmen pointing their weapons at him. That was a masterpiece of cinematography, and that scene and the one that followed it were _perfectly executed;_ it reminded me of that scene in _The Suicide Squad_ where Harley is shooting down the military guards during her escape, and she spins around the circular room, shooting almost in a first person shooter style dance. And whomever was in charge of the music placement in this video production did a BANG-UP JOB. I LOVE how Steve Conte's _Rain_ distorts and then ABRUPTLY STOPS as Spike takes the first shot. I also REALLY LOVED the fight choreography, and thought the actors all did a great job executing it! (Sorry for the long book...everyone worked REALLY hard on this and _IT SHOWS,_ so I wanted to make sure everyone knew their hard work was GREATLY appreciated and loved! I'm definitely looking forward to more!) 🙂
Thank you so much!! 🙏🏼😭 the henchmen were definitely the MVPs of the shoot when we were filming!! So glad you enjoyed them and our other actors performances! If you don’t mind I’d love to share this review on my Instagram, I really appreciate you taking the time to watch and review our film 😁 Also that was Jordan’s (Vicious) real hair 😉
@@RyanThomasMcCrory *WOW!* His hair is absolutely *AMAZING.* I didn't even stop to consider that it might be real! (I'm so sorry for that!) And sure, you can use that review! I'm incredibly honored! ☺️
I’ll stand by my thoughts that Ryan McCrory is the best representation of Spike that I’ve seen yet. The look, the moves, the mannerisms. He’s done a great job portraying this character. Great job as usual!
The editing in the fight sequences are glorious and the overall tone and pacing what so well done. I'd be so curious to know the budget because you did so much with what you had. Wonderful. Netflix is put to shame
This live action film of Bebop is amazing. Of course, there is always room for improvement, but overall this is very well done! It was accurate to the anime with writing and I really like the ending of this short film. Makes me want to see more. Very well done guys! Wish the Netflix series was like this.
One thing I noticed after watching both fan films again: the quality of sound improved quite a bit for dialogue. Sounds like some ADR was done because Spike's voice suddenly sounds eerily similar to a younger Steve Blum. The overall effect of everyone's voice quality makes this one seem even more cinematic.
Thank you so much!! It was really important to us to try and improve on all fronts between the last film and this one! And I’ve been listening to so much Steve Blum trying to get his Spike down 😅 but all audio you hear from the actors was recorded live on set! (Except Ein 😉)
My jaw was on the floor the entire time, but I lost it at the zero G cigarette! This is by far the best fan- anything of Cowboy Bebop, and certainly the best live action adaptation I've seen. The casting in particular was perfect! Even Faye was natural, which isn't an easy role!
Ryan McCrory has done it again. From looks to emotions, he embodies Spike flawlessly! I can’t imagine anyone else as him after seeing both of his performances.
Awesome job you guys !!! Second one I have seen from creative cosplayers and love it. From fighting styles to personalities very well done! I’d watch more of these in a heartbeat.
I’ve been waiting for this! Saw the announcement for the making of this project and I’ve been excited ever sense! Its absolutely perfect and it’s obvious you all put so much work into this!
I love seeing how all the team's hard work comes together in the end - great job once again! All the time, effort, and love that went towards this project really shows. Also, for better or worse, Ryan is forever intrinsically linked with Spike in my mind haha Proud as always 💙🦁
Now this, ladies & gentlemen, boys & girls, is true passion, if you observe carefully, they made great improvement in terms of acting & expression. From the earlier work, the fights may looked stiff, through this episode, you get to see the way they explore angles and timing to make the fight look as natural as the anime portrays.
I have only watched clips of the animated and live action series respectively. So I watched this without any bias towards one version of the show or the other and I make this comment purely on the merits of the film presented here. It's awesome. I've also seen Space Cowboy and based only on the clips I've seen, every single actor here perfectly nailed their role. At no point was it obvious to me that you were portraying a well known character. You made the characters your own and gave them life and personality. The story was fast paced, the action was realistic and perfectly balanced. And the ending was just the perfect. I'll be exploring your other work with great interest.

Amen to that
I truly appreciate the love that went into making this, only TRUE OTAKU not weebs can see and truly love this instead of liking anime bc it's a trend.
No offense, but using otaku as a good thing isn't any better. It's the word they use for weeb in Japan.
@@yungegger I learned that word in Megatokyo.
God the dude who plays vicious was awesome

Awesome...this one has the thing that netflix didn't had from anime
The seriousness
Wayyy better than the first episode of the Netflix one IMO

Y'all are way too underrated!!
Better than what Netflix gave us lol
This came out so well! I didn’t realize it had been finished. The hand to hand fights were so realistic! Loved it
