The fact that they had to make an 'emergency' run to get a transmission, when the rules plainly state a 4 speed??? Right now I'm starting a build and watching the Southeast Gasser videos - it's obvious that they run 4 speeds, without even reading the rules. 'Bending' the rules is for the politicians. Having fun and just doing it the way it was done when I was a teenager in the 60s is what this Gasser deal is. I've been out of drag racing for 40 years because money and trickery eliminated any chance of fun being involved. I hope the rules are tightened up even more to keep any chance of the fun being taken out of this kind of drag racing again. There are plenty of 2016 electronic plastic slot cars out there - and I don't care. Willy
Not that it matters now, but the run for the transmission was to pick up a transmission which was always legal for the series, and was a clutch assisted unit.
that was our one and only transmission. We would not have dared to disgrace the car with an automatic. We had no transmission at all, we were supposed to have it days earlier but it was delayed too late to ship. As I said, it doesn't matter any more.
Thanks for your quick reply! Is the car alive and running now somewhere? It was great to hear Gene was a pilot! After I found out that a drivetrain for SEG would cost over $10K, I pushed the '62 vette back into the corner and got a set of plans to build a homebuilt. Been a flight instructor almost 40 years and never owned an airplane!
some cool cars

What trans was he going to run before the emergency trip? Automatic? I know the Ohio AA/GS guys all run autos.
