- Reviewing Amazon's Fire Max 11 Tablet, a FireOS family device for a budget of £249 here in the UK (not including the keyboard and stylus). This unboxing and full tour runs through the highlights and drawbacks of the Amazon Fire Max 11 Tablet, to see if it's one of the best affordable options in 2023.
Despite its mighty 11-inch screen, this tab boasts a skinny and light design that's good for taking wherever you roam. If you pay the extra price for the keyboard dock, you can prop up the Amazon Fire Max 11 and use it as a makeshift laptop or smart display. It's certainly a lot more budget friendly than the Pixel Tablet that's coming to the UK soon.
That display is sharp and poppy, if not quite as bright as I'd hoped. You've also got expandable storage for downloading apps, movies etc, and the Fire Max 11 boasts a dedicated kids mode if you want to keep your offspring entertained.
However, there's no Google Play Store here. You'll be downloading apps from Amazon's own library, which thankfully is well stocked. That UI is also designed to get you spending more money with Amazon, so the Fire Max 11 is best suited to users of Prime, Audible, Kindle etc.

The ads aren’t bad. Once you turn it on you have one ad on the Lock Screen. Then just swipe and you are on the Home Screen. I don’t know why people loose their mind over it. 🙄 You can side load the Google Play store. I have it on mine. Simple and you can learn how on RUclips.

I managed to get the Ad 64gb version with an ancient fire 8 tablet traded in for £97, couldn't resist at the price.
Looking forward to getting hold of one of these, my HD 8 and fire 7 have served me very well. The pen is somthing ive been hoping for, only reason I never went for the HD 10.
Yes, it is well worth avoiding the ads! I'm still using the 2017 original Fire 10 which is working fine but I'm hoping this comes on sale for next month's Prime Day.

Thank you so much for the review! I have been questioning myself on trying to upgrade myself onto a new tablet but I didn’t know which brand I wanted to get! I’m usually one of those frugal people who uses something until it dies or starts to get corrosion on the battery. I used to have an IPad Mini 1st Generation. The Fire HD is so underrated. i have a 10 Plus and want to upgrade to the 11 because you can't get the new version of Fire OS without upgrading. They're just so handy, whether we're talking about the 10 or the Max. You don't need a gaming laptop to have a web browser, an Office document, and Facebook all open at the same time. I use AndrOffice, an Android port of LibreOffice. If you add a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse, you have a throwdown laptop perfect for basic office or school work. It's not the best or the fastest, but it's the cheapest way to get going with something fairly modern.
If the tablets are like the Kindles then it’s pretty easy to pay a tenner and remove the ads after you’ve bought the tablet? My Kindle has ads but they don’t bother me as it’s only ads for a book and only on the lock screen.
I bought the Fire 10 last year and use it almost exclusively for reading e-books or watching the occasional movie (from a flash drive). It's great value and the only drawback is having to sideload a lot of apps, since it doesn't allow access to Google's Playstore.

I recently got the Fire HD 10 plus with ad removal haven’t gotten a chance to use it much though. I did however listen to some audiobooks, watched RUclips, and tried some ebooks and alternative reading sites. So far so good. Grew up with the first gen kindle!

I would love to know how well the Microsoft Whiteboard app works on the Fire 11 device with the stylus.
No mention of side loading the Google Play Store? Presumably can't mention doing that as it would no doubt annoy Amazon!
Their web site claims its not possible but I am sure it is.
Another good tablet from Amazon, always worth pointing out Amazon support there products for a very long time as it’s a great buy. But the 10 inch is probably even better.

I'm looking for something for the kitchen to play music from an SD card and stream to an amazon echo (1st gen) speaker. Does this take ages to boot up? Would it connect to the echo via bluetooth and auto-connect to it next time?

I had a fire hd 10 and while i liked it for the time i switched out for lenovo since i couldnt do things on it like you could with regular tablets. Such as surf net and play videos at same time along using discord as its own app rather than it just being part of sil browser. Has amazon improves its Os in this model or its basically the same as its othe rmodel?

3:22 The ads are super annoying but all you have to do is go to the support page in settings and type out a good paragraph politely asking them to remove them from your device. It works, and they do it for free without any hassle. I don't think they care lol

It is very easy to add Google play store to buy devices. All of the android apps work perfectly on it as well. The fire operating system is running on top of the android software. The $10 is worth it to get rid of the ad also.for $220. You can turn it into a perfect android tablet. Fire tablets have amazing screen, quality, the best battery, life of any electronic device I’ve ever owned and good warranty. This is going to be my fourth fire product. They are amazing. As a sidenote, I thought I would throw in my fire tablets are the only thing I own that are not made by Apple.
Anyone know how well this would be for video editing?? I have a bunch of old family vhs tapes that I’m transferring to digital and want to edit them.
For the cost it takes, I think it could be a good option for students as well as official users. Uses a smart Mediatek chip and has good battery power as well.
I searched the internet about this particular MediaTek chipset but I didn't get any relevant information about it. I still think it's gonna perform well and compete at least with the Galaxy Tab A8. If that's the case, I'd be glad

Ads will slow down the system as it has background tasks to be doing. Also ads aren't very kind to your data so if you have a data limit and you set up a hotspot, they'll chew your data like a child that keeps eating even though they're already full. So yeah, get the ad free version if possible.

The usb-c port is a headphone port as well as charging port.
I hope it's better than fire tablet 8 inch. I bought a few of those last year and the battery only lasts about an hour or so. They declined tremendously. My fire tablet 10 on the other hand has a great battery. I don't know why I would need this one over the 10.? not much different that I could see
An hour or so from the Fire 8, mate if that is really the case then you've been very unlucky.
@@TheOGRalphit’s true. I have the 2017 10.1 and it has about 1hr 10 minutes of battery life now. The battery stopped holding charge after the warranty was over

Another Fire 10 owner here. Once I converted it to Android (guides on youtube) it became one of my favourite devices.
You didn't convert it to android. It was already running Android with Amazon's skin.
When using it as an Android device, does it still have the option for the Amazon Kid's App? the monthly kids unlimited app for games and such.
Is it easy to install a new launcher on this?

I am on my 2nd and that's likely to go the way of the first, returned to Amazon, why like the first it will only charge at 3.8 watts, it comes with a 9-watt charger, which charges my phone at 12.9 watts so nothing wrong with the charger... As for no Play Store just put a search in and you will find loads of step-by-step ways to sideload it... Charging aside at £140 it's good value.

I have Fire 10 HD with AD's and have to say they are no intrusive. I hardly notice them. So personally it is not worth a tenner to get them removed. Though I know I have been able previously to just get them removed for nothing if you give them a ring. I might have considered this one if I did not already have the Fire HD 10.

You mentioned ads. I have to admit that I'm blocking ads - do you have a Patreon Account or something similar where I can compensate for that?

samsung tab 6 lite or fire max 11?
It's a great device, but it can't read ExFAT micro SD cards. It's limited to FAT32. It certainly makes a problem if you plan to use a big SD card .
Nice rewiew, but I wsihed you'd have spent some more time of performance aspect of the tablet; my issue with Fire tablets has always been their performance, particulary as it relates to surfing the internet. I iPad and Pixel phone run rings around the performance of the fire tablets; also not having Android on these tablets is a no go for me.
it did get an updated chipset which is like twice as fast by geekbench single core which is my benchmark of choice. amazon claimed 50% more powerful than the prior model i believe. and yeah mainstream tech reviewers dont even run a benchmark, just "it feels slow/fast/whatever" sad lol. but um yeah ipad and pixel phone run rings around this when it comes to your wallet too lol what did you expect.
I would get an iPad 9 at this price, £250. It has much better performance and therefore in 5-7 years' time the iPad will still feel good. Better apps, more apps and longer support on the iPad. Also, better accessories.

@@cryengine_x Yes, when Apple released the iPad 10, they continued to make and sell the iPad9. They can be had very cheaply during sales, and offer much of the Amazon devices offer.

I have a Fire 10 with Ads.The only Ads I get is on the lockscreen which I swipe past to use the tablet anyway. So I wouldn't pay £10 to remove the Ads.

This is £150 for the 64gb version without ads on Prime Day.
Doesn't have enough ram though needs 6GB in 2023 otherwise it will continue to lock up just like my Fire HD 10 does it's only worth considering it's reduced to £99 or less sadly.
I am considering this with the Prime Day sale here in a few days, with my trade in on my current Fire HD8 it'll be $140ish. Sadly I am still on the fence to buy a "high end" Fire tablet. 🤷🏻♂️

Seems nice but lacking of a headphone jack is almost a dealbreaker for me. Need to be able to connect two headphones at the same time for two kids, which is impossible over bluetooth
All you have to do is buy a usbc-3.5mm audio adapter to use wired headphones. Costs around $10

Might be worth it IF it was on special offer at $99 / £99 given its size but otherwise at its advertised price it is a hard “no”. On the apps store, it is a weakeness unless Google Apps can be loaded via the usual hack on Amazon tablets. I have had problems with headphone / earbud apps working though on Amazon tablets.
I don’t think any half decent tablets are £99 😂
For me the tablet is weak for the price. 179 euro sounds about right. Maybe at Christmas sale.
@@Teelsambal you cant touch it at the price in the states, dunno if it's different elsewhere. the galaxy s6 light or whatever is like half as powerful vs this new updated chipset in the fire max (and it usually costs 330, though i think i saw it on sale last week for 249). nothing much else full size under 300. but yes sale is where these tablets shine. the old fire hd 10 was 149 but went on sale as low as 75. 149 sale price should be a given for this one, but i'll be fascinated to see if it goes any lower.
