    One note. When collecting oxygen in the second setup, you want to let the reaction bubble for a few seconds before starting to collect in the collection jar.
    There's air mixture inside the reaction bottle that is pushed out first and that's what you're collecting for the first few seconds and the result won't be pure oxygen.

      They both release into the air. You need separate compartments to collect anything, and the gov't has conveniently made all proper materials to store Hydrogen illegal and a felony. Vehicles could easily run off of Hydrogen, the cleanest and most efficient gas on the planet (that's why it's number 1 on the element chart- they left out a few also). But there's no money in it, you still have to buy gas or charge your tesla, which comparably are in the negative thousand percent negative in regards to that efficiency. Vehicles that run off of water?? Naw that'd be too easy, we need to control these creatures.

      There's better ways of making industrial scale quantities of oxygen. This involves breaking down a hydrogen peroxide molecule. You can do it easily at home, but the overall complexity to make hydrogen peroxide and do this is way out of whack.
      If you want to make a lot of oxygen, you just freeze air. It's just like how you distill anything else, but colder.

    • @dustycrophopper2743
      @dustycrophopper2743 3 года назад +1

      @@emmah7465 Its a horror story unfolding here in India and its picking up pace in other countries too. Doctors and scientists who said that this is a double mutant, have now confirmed that it is a triple mutant. There is a severe shortage of oxygen and medicines. There was an accident involving the O2 main tank at a hospital in the Nashik area and O2 leaked all over the place. 24 patients who were on O2 at that time gasped for breath and died right in front of their caretakers and family. Imagine seeing someone gasping for breath heavily and then breathing their last right in feont of their family. Thats why since I am a technology professional, I started looking for alternatives. Obe good alternative is the Philips Oxygen Concentrator and another one as shown in this video and some others may be of help. I will need some more engineers to quickly assemble the required parts and make small amd big concentrators. Another problem which is staring everybody in the face is there are no beds, ICU's and ventilators. At the rate at which the Covid cases are increasing, we had 300,000 just last day, we are running out of hospital infrastructure. I have suggested the news channels over twitter to start using railway wagons as make shift Covid-19 wards be cause they already have beds. All they have to do is install the portable medical equipment there. Take good care of yourself and your family Emma. This is the big monster. It attacks the patients weakest part - Lungs and snaps their ability to breathe within a few hours to days Yes a few hours to days. If the patientvia strong AMD has no co morbidities, then it takes days. If the patient is weak and has co morbidities like smoking, asthma, drinking, pretty existing diseases and infections, then that person can just forget about it.

    Curious when separating what happens to the hydrogen molecules? Also purer form of hydrogen peroxide like one of 32% vs the 8% you have would that create more oxygen?

    • @3BricksHigher
      @3BricksHigher  2 года назад +1

      The extra oxygen leaves and the hydrogen peroxide turns into water. I'm sure the stronger % would create a stronger/quicker reaction, but I'm not sure it would create more oxygen. I might need to test your theory.

    • @heidihogshire
      @heidihogshire 2 года назад +2

      It would definitely create more oxygen, 4 times as much as the 8% would. There are more safety concerns with stronger solutions and you can get plenty of oxygen decomposing regular 3% dollar store peroxide anyway. Here's exactly how much oxygen is In there..
      A old fashioned way to refer to peroxide strength was with the term "vol". It stands for the _volume_ of pure oxygen within a certain strength of the stuff. Even today you sometimes see 3% called "10 vol", meaning it gives off 10 volumes of oxygen for every one volume of peroxide that decomposes! So, a one liter bottle of peroxide yields 10 liters of oxygen. That's quite a bit for most people's purposes.
      What makes peroxide decompose? Yeast for one thing. I think that's its purpose in this video. So will zinc powder or iron fillings (from a Hot Hands pad for example.

    Here’s my question why can’t we just build a machine that could produce oxygen like in the video.If the earth is running out of oxygen because theirs more carbon dioxide in the air.
    Why not just turn that dioxide into oxygen before we all die

    • @ecstasyofgold888
      @ecstasyofgold888 3 года назад +3

      It takes a lot of energy in the form of electricity to split CO2 molecules apart. Where do humans get their energy from right now? By and large the answer is burning of fossil fuels, which would release more CO2 than you could ever remove by splitting CO2. Some people propose the building of massive renewable infrastructure to generate electricity from wind, solar, and hydro to do this, but that process again would cost a lot of time and money and energy/CO2 in the process.
      Also, if you were able to do it perfectly, you'd have oxygen gas and carbon left over. What do you do with the carbon? CO2 is naturally consumed by plants and trees. Trees use sunlight as their source of energy to break CO2 into carbon and oxygen gas. This is why one solution to to reducing CO2 is to plant more trees. The oxygen is released for us to breathe and the carbon becomes the wood in the tree as it grows! Therefore, you can think of wood as stored solar energy and when you have a campfire, you are releasing stored sunlight.
