He was just casually scratching his face. Started out with lifting his middle-finger then followed by the rest of them as they all approached his face to deal with an itch. The surprised face was unrelated to this incident, and was in fact caused by him just realizing he had forgotten his lunch at home. All of this has been clarified by BBC as to avoid confusion and any possible misinterpretation of his actions.
I saw this when it went out live. There’s been many times over the last 10 years or so when it’s randomly popped into my head and made me laugh out loud, so glad to see it again !
The best thing I ever heard go out live was on Key 103 radio in Manchester in the 90s. The presenter was asking listeners to call him with words they couldn't say properly, and some guy phoned in and said, "culliningus". The presenter didn't get it and spent the next minute or so asking him to repeat it, say it slowly, break it into syllables... It seemed like forever before the producer came back from the toilet or wherever he'd been and slammed a record on.
And he was UK's most popular weather presenter in 2017. People love charisma 😂 Also he looked astounding on the cover of Attitude Active in 2010, go look ;)
Oh man that was the best laugh I had in years everything in my body hurts and I think I peed a little when I put it in slow mo so many hand movements in such small times lmao
Thought the presenter dealt with this so well. Basically saying sometimes things happen that shouldn’t, it’s just the way things are, no big deal, move on. Class
@Asmallgiraffe What different do you think that makes? As we look at it we can see two fingers to the left of his middle finger which is raised, if it were his index finger we'd be able to see three fingers (middle, ring and little fingers).
Just watched him do the weather just a few minutes ago while i played this clip and paused it where his is sticking his finger up lol ,laughed myself right out of my straight jacket price less telly .
LOL that was so funny... that guy cheered up so many people in this time of hardship i hope he doesnt get into any bother with his employer... :) made my day
Perhaps he should have added his index finger and made it a peace sign. I would have given him practice for throwing up "Peace" to say goodbye as he walked out from being fired.
Oh god that split second of hopeless desperation is what keeps me alive.
+thecharlessmith (instagram) ROTFL!!!
Brilliant! The sheer panic on his face! Priceless. 😁
The utter primal shame lmao I love it.
Surprised that he hasn't been fired.
It makes the whole thing that much better.
worst damage reduction attempt I've ever seen...

His panicked reaction is priceless.

hahahaha worst panic reaction of all time
Hahahaha nobody asked
@@PoppyTartéBaugettes Pipe down and move along you zoomer clown
I like how the weatherman's spit second reaction is to eat his hand, not to put it down or anything. Nope, that hand needs to be ate!
That made it much more awkward and embarrassing than just showing the finger in the first place.

*Eton
Well the neutral position of an arm is down. If it's raised you're doing so for a reason, doesn't make much sense to just put your arm down.
He pretends his hand is possessed and starts to attack him which works a treat, very convincing
*raises finger*
*jams in mouth*
Eat the evidence.
"If I suddenly start clawing frenziedly at my chin, maybe I can divert attention away from my terror-filled eyes..."
The old "cover up that you gave someone the finger by scratching the area an inch off your face" recovery. Works every time.
He wanted it to seem like he was just casually grabbing his face.. damn those sudden itches.
Help this man, he is under attack from his hand.
cryin
I think he covered that up pretty well, I had to watch the video a few times to see what had happened
@juanisabastard He put his index finger up then rubbed his chin

Agreed, the second funniest is the deadpan response from the 'I so pale' reporter

The absolute look of dread and horror... never have I seen such a terrifying sight.
The weatherman was like "Hey guys, fuck y- Oh shit! I mean help! This finger is eating me!!" 🤣🤣
His reaction is as professional as any of ours would've been.
Maybe he was 'pretending to count down from 10 to 1'. Lol
haha what an epic fail his chin stroking technique was terrible. How embarrassing.
History repeating itself
Oh man that was the best laugh I had in years everything in my body hurts and I think I peed a little when I put it in slow mo so many hand movements in such small times lmao
I did this to my physics tutor at school while he was writing on the blackboard circa 1986. He turned at the split second I did it. Boom!
LOL I've been laughing for like 3 minutes straight from his reaction. The way he tries to play it off is so ridiculous yet so relatable.
Why do the 2 reporters seem happier than reporters do now

The look of pure terror
I was 10 when this happened... my mum was laughing so hard and I was sat there like WTF is so funny🤣🤣🤣
I love how professional the two newsreaders were when it happened. That's class.
It doesn't matter what finger he sticks up. It's the way he tries to cover it up that makes it funny.
The anchorwoman's "ahh" is great
oh that look on his face..absolutely brilliant
The look on his eyes when he knows he fcked up.

One of the funniest things I have ever seen.
His reflexes were quick given the situation...
That fucker was being sarcastic, but that was just poor timing lol.
The weather wasn't to be broadcast until a few minutes later ... it was whoever was in charge of the graphics who made the gaffe.
That's why you don't make enemies with the tech guys

Perhaps he should have added his index finger and made it a peace sign. I would have given him practice for throwing up "Peace" to say goodbye as he walked out from being fired.
Except the backwards V-sign (the position it would be if he tried to recover that way) is pretty much just as offensive in the UK!
Why is he still on TV?
