I might keep an eye out for another one, or possibly re-look at this one as that button is still a pain and works sometimes and other times it goes crazy.
Thanks for the tips! Yesterday I bought the GBC with the cam. This is really helpful. The link cable, the 5v power supplier and the WiFi printer cost me more than the GB itself, but all together will make everything more fun and easy. Looking forward to receiving my purchases. Thanks again! Hugs from Barcelona!!!!
Great ain't they, didn't have one growing up so just getting used to how to setup to get the best photos. Can see me taking this to different locations as a bit of a side project.
@@GoodwinsPlace yeah bit of an art to get the photos perfect. I got mine much later on, wasn't that fortunate as a kid to have one new. I think a Gameboy pocket/colour is best for portability if you plan on taking it out to take photos but with a lit screen you can take some good pixel pics. Last used mine 2 years ago before my GB pocket screen started to get lines on it, inside shoots can be annoying as the standard screens are so dark.
Well this was strange, I've only ever had the Japanese camera so this is the first time I've actually seen the English text on the camera and also there are a few different photo frame differences as well, good video!
@@GoodwinsPlace They're a lot cheaper obviously (because of the language difference) than the English version, mine cost me 9 quid boxed with intructions off ebay
@@GoodwinsPlace One more thing though, does this little unit have the port that only the GBC cable will fit into? In other words an original DMG cable would only fit into the DMG but the other end would be too big for the wifi unit?
hey there! I know it's been a while since this was poster but i wanted to see if you still used this? I know the facebook link is kinda dead but I'd love to implement gameboy printer pics for an art project and this method is def the most appealing :)
Tried to buy one from this Etsy shop (same one you linked). User said he would ship in a few days. I asked for an update after 20 days, (nicely) and the shop owner flipped his lid and cancelled the order complaining about customer communications, and claimed he never messaged me saying a few days. I keep my emails, so I took a screen shot of the message he originally sent. Haven't heard back from him though. I have been unable to find any other seller of these devices, do you have any leads?
The only other option would be to engineer my own. Can you tell how its made? It almost just looks like an arduino with a wifi hat, and then the gameboy link is just serial'd into it, and then some code i would need to send the serial'd file over the wifi connection.
No way. That's such a shame, mine arrived pretty quick. Maybe they're having supply issues in the current climate. Have a look at the other comments on this video, someone mentioned another method.
@@GoodwinsPlace Yeah. Here is a tweet with the screenshots of the convo. twitter.com/KlaxMaster/status/1262450587901124614 I'll look into the comments, I'm pretty excited though, cause i just got my DMG IPS LCD today, so i'm trying to focus on that. lol Thanks for the quick response!
@@GoodwinsPlace I got it in with out trouble. Looks like we got 2 different mods though. Looks like this video uses the one that adds back light to the original screen, by peeling off the reflective back. I bought the one that just replaces the whole PCB and screen altogether. I use InsideGadget's GBxCart RW, which can dump ROM and RAM from carts, rewrite RAM, write ROM on flashcarts and dump Gaameboy Camera pics in a click of the mouse.
@@GoodwinsPlace also update I've picked up one of these myself and it seems to only work with the Gameboy camera, which is a little frustrating to say the least. I would have thought it would have accepted any kind of photo output.

I wouldn't want to sell it now. Take a look at a channel called onaretrotip he did a review of a cart reader that is potentially another option for getting photos off the camera.
The link cable is just a standard link cable, I bought that at a boot sale for about £2. The WiFi printer I bought on Etsy but I don't think they are making them any longer.
@@GoodwinsPlace I can see the 'Gameboy Printer' show in the connection settings on my mac but it times out when I try to connect to it. In terms of power, i am using a micro usb power cord for a raspberry pi 3.
Ok power sounds fine if you're seeing it in WiFi connections. Out of interest can you connect to it from a phone or similar to see if it is the Mac having issues connecting or the device itself.
Ha! That's awesome. Thanks for the shout out. Love the retro pixel photos from the Game Boy Camera. 👍
Thanks for the heads up, it's a great bit of kit. So simple to use.
Loving this video bud, always loved the idea of the Gameboy printer but never had one, must add to the list of things to buy for sure.

Just a question... Is it possible to access the pics with the Android smartphone's navigator? Or do you need the PC/laptop?
@@inakamono31 I can't remember but imagine you can access them on a phone via a browser.

Nice video 👍🏻, still have my yellow Gameboy camera. Using it with a lit screen makes it look so much better to use.

I wonder if this would work with the Pokémon games, and being able to print out your boxes/Pokédex etc
Should be able to, I've not tried it yet but will see what I have with that function included.

Is the device getting power from the usb cable?
