      @@brixelryan6963 You don't need to drown your entire chain in lube. A tiny drop per link is perfectly adequate. All that excess will just be wiped off, or if you don't wipe it off then it will attract a shit ton of grime, meaning you need MORE maintenance.

    I've worked in bike shops in areas where bike maintenance is a myth. I've seen jockey wheels that look like perfect circles with small teeth on them only to remove a 1/4" of dirt and sludge off both sides

    I dont oil for this very reason I have switched to waxing my chain, clean off all of your components once, meticulous clean your chain, wax it and never worry about dirty drive train

      Yes! And a v or canti brake that squeezes at the same rate is also a thing of beauty! You know how it goes when you start out it takes a like four or five tries to get sorted out. After that pure perfection on maybe your second try!

    Also the most positive effect on how a bike rides. I hate when the chain on the granny-gear starts to make sounds.... that's the time for a chain wash and re-lube.

      Realistically no, however it's pretty easily to do it gently, I have a dulled out flat blade screwdriver I use for my jockey wheels and have done for years and they're just fine, no scratches or anything

    Wait until you have to do this every few days due to commuting to work cross country in the winter. Often that mud freezes on. You have to do this in the dark with warm water to melt it and somewhere where the water on the ground freezing won't be a danger. Then you have to dry it all and re lube quick before the chain links freeze. It soon loses its appeal 🤣

    Algo que nunca entendí , es para que las ruedas de cambio son huecas , el peso que se ahorra es casi nulo , pero las contras son muchas , quedan más débiles , corres peligro de que se trabe con alguna rama y destruir el cambio etc

    I think the reason he's got so much build up on the jockey wheels is because of all that chain lube he's using. At least half of it is falling between the links to the floor anyway.

      Only with sealed bearings and with the understanding that (clean) water will still manage to infiltrate past the seals into areas like your bottom bracket shell or your seatpost down into the frame. Seth has a video on Berm Peak detailing what can be gotten away with when cleaning your bike with a pressure washer.

    Por eso yo prefiero desarmar toda la transmisión :
    -Sacar el volante y las coronas.
    -Sacar la cadena.
    -Sacar el piñón.
    -Sacar las roldanas.
    -Limpiar las jaulas con alcohol isopropilico.
    Lavar con antigrasa, detergente, enjuagar, los engranes y cadena. Secar, y ensamblar con grasa y el par de apriete correspondiente. Además de lubricar cadena.

    Always oil the INNER side of the chain, otherwise it will be a dirt magnet in short while again

      It will be no matter which side of the chain you lube lol. All that matters is that you do it regularily and clean/service the drivetrain once a month or so
