  • This is a video retrospective of the classic British magazine Computer and Video Games, better known as C&VG. In this first part I look at 3 issues of the publication from the early 90s and relive some nostalgic memories.

I loved this mag back in the day, I especially loved all the import stuff they covered, seemed so magical.

2004, CVG lasted just one year before RUclips activated its hyperdrive.

I have a load of C&VG mags in my attic, including issue 1. I think I missed issue 2 then bought the rest for many years.

Sure it was CVG when I was reading about the SNES launch... and a review of Bubble Boɓble. 1989.

Did you check the spine of the mag to see if datess on there. Tho that mag looks battered,it may have rubbed off.

GO! was a great addition to the mag, I always hoped they would spin it off on its own, but they never did.

Yeah me too, there was more than enough games being released for handheld to make that possible. As great as GO! was there were loads of games that they didn't review, even for the Lynx which had relatively few releases.

2 years older than you. Nan took me to see Terminator 2 for my 16th.
All the CVG posters, or good one page artwork would get school library photocopies for everyones walls.
    🍻
Yeah STe is more of the interesting music creation machine. But Amiga was better for graphic design. Amiga games were or felt a bit better to play.

Retro Gamer brought back Super Play for the one mini issue.
Gary Bracey headed Ocean. And I didn't Google either 🙂

Yeah, I remembered about 2 seconds after I stopped filming! I hate it when you get a mental block like that.

The Super Nintendo hadn't launched yet (the issue would have been put together in February of that year), and would have still been referred to by its Japanese nom de plume until its April 92 release.

And yeeeaaahh, scores below 80% were 'discouraged' (advertising revenue and all that), unless the games really were truly atrocious...

    • @TheLairdsLair

Yeah but that would be Super Famicom, not just Famicom, that would have made sense.

@@TheLairdsLair Call it a misplaced degree of some kind of continuity then, given that there'd been an increasing amount of Super Famicom coverage over the last six months of the mag. :)
