When you mentioned he learned Italian as a child it immediately caused me to wonder whether he ever made use of it during his Italian campaigns, speaking with locals or the various Italian nobility and liberals he wined and dined with. Another excellent episode!

Ironically enough it might've been a disadvantage. Napoleon's Italian was Corsican, so would've sounded very odd to Italian high society. Even then, he hadn't had to use it for a long time and the Italians nobles spoke perfect French anyway. Maybe with Italian locals it might've been useful, but that's what translators are for. Funnily enough French was a major spoken language in North-Western Italy for centuries (Piedmonte, Savoia) so no trouble in 1796, 97 when he's down there

So begins our look at the life of Napoleon Bonaparte. We're gonna go into a lot more detail than a typical RUclips series, so a few dozen episodes and probably a few supplementals here and there.
If you're new, then I highly recommend treating these vids like podcasts. The visuals are not the priority for me - the script and audio are. However, I will always try to have at lease somewhat relevant images for what's being said.
If you have any comments/thoughts/criticisms, anything, please feel free to share, in this video or any other. I'd love for these videos to spark that kind of discussion. Cheers!

If you covered Napoleon as deeply as this, I can imagine the evolution of this channel, "Realm of the Major Figures of Life," or something like that--covering Alexander the Great, Julius Cesar, Genghis Khan, Oda Nobunaga, and the like.
But the one that will take you forever and the greatest to cover is Jesus Christ.
      Anyways, great stuff.

Let me be a little more “Adequate” in the assessment of your Historical presentation here…
It is so far beyond anything out there for in-depth coverage of Bonaparte’s life, you begin to see & feel him come to life! A real person, making real decisions about family, government, military, love, loss and on it goes…
From the love letters, to his notes about the dog and his master, to how he’s the patriarch of the family. With all the information you have made available for us, at the precise times of his life you begin to (think you) understand him, a little, his actions and his possible motives?
For example, when you find out how much of a real tart Josephine was, some of the things she put him through! Wow!makes you understand just what kind of person he really was to forgive her and then even to then make her Empress? He would know what the average person would think about that, I would imagine like his mother did and why she refused to attend his coronation? Can’t put a silk hat on a pig… so definitely shouldn’t put a crown on one then either!Wow! Then Napoleon has the painter include his mother front and centre because it’s the two most important people in his life!
All the Documentaries you read or watch come from 2 & 1/2 places…
      1. Napoleons Generalship
      2.Napoleon’s Tyrannical, power hungry side
& the 1/2… the War Monger! The Anti-Christ! the blood thirsty butcher!
Which of course he was not! Otherwise how did we get practically 4-5 years of peace from 1800sh-1805?
If you take out Spain you get 1807-1809 & 1809-1812
Of course nobody talks about the fact that almost every war he was involved in was a declaration of war against him!
Had the great powers not pushed war upon the French Empire & the Emperor he would never have gained his huge Empire to begin with! I also love how a Duchy like Bavaria, uses Napoleon to massively expand their fiefdom to a rather large kingdom and then when he really needs friends and allies they all switch on him to keep their dirty little gains for their dirty little kingdoms! Bernadotte and Murat too!… makes them both Marshals, let’s Bernadotte accept the Swedish Crown and then becomes a part of the 6th coalition. Upsetting but not unexpected from Bernadotte. Murat on the other hand… is allowed the hand in marriage of Napoleon’s youngest sister, then is made a Marshal, a Duke, then the King of Naples. Only to betray Napoleon! Calls him a War addict! Then joins the 6th Coalition too!… unforgivable! Murat & Caroline!😢… can you imagine how painful that was for him? Looks out for friends and especially family members and then they shit all over you! Only it would have been worse than that!

      Go watch it!
I enjoyed the film, Ignore irrelevant criticisms about the ages of the actors compared to the actual characters they play on the screen, it all fits in well enough, after all they are actors, acting.
Joaquin Phoenix portrays Napoleon in his thirties & early forties brilliantly. These "critics" that go around knit picking silly holes in feature films like Napoleon are a sad lot & its us they seem to portray as fools when they have to point out that one Arab extra at the battle of the Nile was sporting a vintage Casio on his left wrist or that an Aide-de-camp charging along like a lunatic beside Ney at Waterloo shouldnt of been wearing a pair of Ray Bans, it happens
I'll make one point & say no more, not wishing to spoil the film for you or anybody else, as I mentioned I really did enjoy the film, but... I'd put this RUclips series on pause just for a short time & go back to the series on the French Revolution (my next binge watch) until you've been to the cinema...
The least you "actually" know about Napoleon the more you will enjoy the film.
As for this series (I've just finished watching episode 20) I seriously recommend it.
I've been reading about the Napoleonic & Revolutionary wars for decades & couldn't begin to tell you how many books on & about Napoleon I've gone through, scores.
As for actual biographies my recommendations Vincent Cronin's & Adam Zamoyski's "Napoleon" let you see the actual character & personality of the man himself.
Robert Ashley's two volume work is brilliant & for the battles etc Andrew Robert's Napoleon the great is a phenomenal read & its an easy to read...
So I like to think I know a bit about the subject however I've still learnt things that Ive never come across before by watching this series its a really professional job & I certainly hope there's more to come.
The research etc thats gone into this RUclips series is amazing, all the detail & minutiae about Napoleons life all so well put together, it certainly the very best I've ever watched, its brilliant.
Sorry to waffle on, im old & don't sleep so well.

I also compared paoli to Simon bolivar since I’m a Colombian. Bolivar and paoli are similar since bolivar freed Colombia from the Spanish and paoli freed Corsica from genoese but the only difference the french invaded Corsica but the United States signed the Monroe doctrine saying the spanish and other European nations can’t colonize Latin America. So basically I live in the us so that’s why. I forgot to mention.
