CBC Here & Now, 1994, Karl Wells visits St Brendan's Island, Bonavista Bay NL

During his 31-year CBC career, it was Karl Wells’s privilege to visit and broadcast from every provincial coast and many inland communities throughout Newfoundland & Labrador. He often said his theme song should be the old Hank Snow hit, “I’ve Been Everywhere.” This piece of video features a trip he made in 1994 to St. Brendan’s Island, Bonavista Bay. He sailed on the vessel, Hamilton Sound, skippered by Captain Charlie Janes. At the time, the Hamilton was making regular runs to Burnside and St. Brendan’s. You’ll see Karl chat with Captain Janes and with Ruby White, a young employee of Croke’s General Store. Please enjoy this pleasant glimpse back in time.
