Yep. I think the new sprocket setup works better for the street even if the increase in top speed isn't very impressive. The engine doesn't quite rev out at top speed with the taller gearing as compared to the stock setup and thus the top speed doesn't improve by a lot.
The most common issue that I know of with SXV:s are blown headgaskets. I also know of issues with coolant leaks (on early models), flaking valve buckets and loose flywheel bolts. What kind of issues did you have?
such a huge shame aprilia stopped the SXV series. Aprilia isn't what it was back in the day and bikes like these are the coolest and innovative.

I raced Sm in the portuguese championship, had a couple Sxv's, all exploded...One was on the first startup so good riddance demon!
