For me its such a moment because the torch is LITERALLY being passed. Bobby knew he was on his way out and Cornette was just absolutely perfect to take over for him. Bobby’s real laugh is almost a cackle from the gut, which Jim does also when something is rottenly funny to him lol and everytime Jim got on the mic,Bobby would just hoot in laughter. I literally just came to this moment going through Raw chronologically. I have a whole new appreciation for this moment. Heenan was outstanding and Cornette does it like only he can.
First of all, this is Anfield Annex. Secondly, this brings back very fond memories of old school, pure wrestling with talented wrestlers (not character actors) wrestling. Lastly, you'll never walk alone.
What I love so much about that debut is Bobby's priceless reaction to seeing you walking into the ring. That's what made your five minutes with him so genuine because he humanized the both of you as over babyface heels at a time when WWE was struggling to keep up with WCW.
How were Jim and Bobby able to speak to each other for several minutes without scripted dialogue written by a college-educated Hollywood screenwriter? Thankfully the WWE is a bit more professional these days, as reflected in the ratings. 😏
This promo was fantastic. When Bobby sees Jim he goes nuts!! Bobby gets all tangled up in his headset wires. Two legends of the industry and two of the absolute best talkers on the planet, just an awesome moment in wrestling history
