Dude, how are you not the most viewed guitar youtuber? Just watched a bunch of your videos and the way you explain plus add visuals is epic. Awesome work.
Ive been obsessing over guitar for almost a month now. This might just be the best channel Ive ran into. Several concepts that Ive struggled on, hes breezed me through.
I just really Appreciate that you get straight to the point- provide a high high quality of info and knowledge without the waffle the me me me stuff - so refreshing !!! you're the guitar DUDE!
Brother, I have been looking for someone to explain to me this concept for years. Every person I ask gives this convoluted half assed answer. I like you said in the beginning, I knew the pentatonic and caged and I knew yhey went with eachother, but anytime I’d ask someone, they would give me something that contradicted both concepts. Thank you so much, I’m going to watch this video about 8 more times and I think you have just broken my plateau
Brother, I love your process and instruction. I have been on your videos all of the holiday week. You are absolutely helping me to organize my guitar playing. Please keep at it!
The clarity and simplicity of how you explain and present your guitar lessons is simply brilliant! You are such an amazing teacher! Please continue sharing your guitar knowledge! Thanks a ton, you've just earned a subscriber!
The best solo tutorial. I watched myriad of solo tutorial, none of them shared the same method to do soloing. Practical and straightforward way to approach.
Cant tell you how many video's I've watched on utilizing penatotnics and CAGED to its fullest, could easily shred through all 5 positions, and knew of the positions in each box, but this was the first video that actually clicked, and before the video ended I was playing all over the neck switching between major/minor keys with ease! Unbelievable video!!
Bro, I have been looking for ages for a video like this. There's so many videos on CAGED and pentatonic scales but none really explained the connection between both. This video is a game changer!
This channel is phenomenal, you helped me understand caged and put it into practice with what I already knew with my pentatonic scales, know I understand how Hendrix riffs between chords.
This is brilliant. An entire course in one video. Excellent graphics. Outstanding. I’m an advanced beginner and this ties together a lot of disparate pieces in my understanding. Thank you 🙏🙏🙏
This is just perfect. I was trying to understand some music theory, but everything was so confusing until I found this videos. Thank you so much man. Keep up the good work!!
Love this! Why don't more people teach caged pentatonics? Instead we always see caged on top of the diatonic scale which only works for the one chord. Wish someone had showed me this 50 years ago.
Epic video. Been looking around for a while for exactly this, as I see many musicians do exactly this, but no one explains it well. This vid is comprehensive and succinct. Thanks!!
Love your videos! I watched the video you did about how to find the key to a song, and I right away subscribed! I like your no nonsense, straight forward approach to showing the material, and demonstrating it all in action. Good job!
hi Steve here in Sydney Australia thanks so much for the lessons on connecting all the boxes together i have been trying for ages to work out how all the boxes connect i can play them all but just really didn't know what i was doing or why ... You have solved all my problems .. now onwards and upwards !!!!! Awesome thanks ... Enjoy your day Cheers Steve
This may be the most important video I've ever viewed in my guitar journey. I've always been told to learn CAGED and the different scale positions, but never WHY, or what I could use them for. This video demonstrated both of those points in an extremely simple and easy to understand way. Thank you so much dude.
@@Samjamguitar Also, I have a question. You say to use position 1 of the major pentatonic for E shaped major barre chords, and position 4 of the major pentatonic for A shaped major barre chords. But in a chord progression, would this not change the key of the scale? For example, in the progression you did near the end, you went from G major E shaped barre chord to D major A shaped barre chord. If I were to follow what you've suggested in the video, the key of the scale off the first chord would be g major, but then the scale off of the 2nd chord would be D major. Is this what we want? Naturally I would imagine not, and that we'd want to stay in the key of G major and E minor?
@SlicedInThree you could use G major pentatonic over the entire progression. Changing positions based on individual CAGED chords may lead you to think you are changing key, however this is not the case here. I would encourage you to analyse what notes/intervals you are playing over each of these chords when using the CAGED method, you will find that we are very much still in key.
I have spent today watching your content back to back and can’t thank you enough for clarity of your lesson. Today has been a real lightbulb moment for me, lots of things I didn’t understand have now fallen into place thanks to your clear visuals and plain waffle free approach. Brilliant stuff 👍👍 thank you👍👍
Funny, I have been doing this in the major scale but always trying to work the scale up from the barre finger in position 1, forgetting about the handy notes behind the barre finger. Once you see the light it becomes quite a bit of fun trading rhythm and lead measures with yourself.
Love this Channel. Exactly what I was looking for to understand the fretboard better and integrate it into my practice. Short comprehensive and with visualization...
Fantastic content, masterfully presented to gain musical understanding AND transfer it to the fretboard! No doubt, this is one of the very best channels (that I know) to develop as a guitar player! 👍
I always get confused by what scale to use. Finally a brilliant visual guide! Definitely the best lesson I've seen on this subject! So good to discover your channel. Thank you!!
This is definitely the clearest explanation I’ve ever heard on this. I’m excited to try this with progressions progressions that use the ii and iii chord, as well as modal progressions like the “mixolydian vamp” and with Lydian and Dorian progressions. Do you have any videos of anything like that?
This channel is smoking hot🔥🔥🔥🔥. Thank you for your super awesome lessons, I don't need other channels anymore. 👏👏👏. You have answered, and easily so, all my questions about scales and caged chords
literally the best guitar channel on youtube so far . Please make more videos like these and a little in depth and long so it will be much easier for the beginner to implement stuff just as you explained in this video 🫶🏻
This is one of the difficult thing i find for myself. I can play Rhythm guitar, Solo guitar (Hellraiser), Bass,,, yet I can't play this style. Tnx for posting :)
This is exactly my goal to learn to do this with the CAGED system. Instead of practicing around the circle of fourths or fifths, i'd like to see a cycle of key progressions in five positions. So you know what I mean?
