Thanks for this helpful video. Question: is it possible to add an effect (such as delay) and cotrol the parameters (time, level) with the control knobs, but for all of the parts. In other words, sort of a 'global' control within the performance. Instead of having to adjust the delay on each individual part. I hope that question makes sense.
I discover that the super knob only move the common knobs so i had a huge confusion a bout part knobs and common knobs am wonder if some body got same situation?. For me was mor easy use it on Common and use destination to pat xx, assign xx... Maybe there are different ways to get same result.
That's because I was planning to later use the Super Knob to controle these, and the Super Knob only works with the Knob functions assigned on the Common level.
@@rudyshobbychannel Hi Ruby...I think it might be wrong to say the Superknob only works with knob functions assigned on Common level. I discovered this by looking at the preset Schlager Weapon 1. If you check that you'll see that the Superknob changes the Vol and Cutoff levels of Part 3 (the synth comp). Yet that Part only has those volume and filter levels assigned to knobs at the part level - not to Common. This does not matter as the Superknob can be assigned directly to thoe Part level knobs...it does not have to be duplicated at Common level as well. I'd be interested to see if you thought this was correct or not...I may have got something wrong!
Thank you! @rudyshobbychannel I will try to find it under the part edit page. I must say i feel like the modx interface is very hard to use and remeber. Is it possible to set a general knob for dist effect that will add to.any performance im using?.
When I just want normal cutoff/resonance etc, I turn the knob and nothing happens. It just says 0 on the screen and no parameters change no matter which way I turn it. I thought the knobs come pre encoded unless you assign it otherwise?
There are two buttons at the left of the 4 knobs. The pre-assigned functions, printed in white text, work when the top button is pressed and is lit. When the bottom button is pressed and lit the knobs control our own assigned functions.
@@rudyshobbychannel Yes that's what I presumed but even when the top button is lit and I turn the knobs there is no effect. It still says 0 for each knob. Also my sustain pedal is working in reverse no matter what option I press. I'm wondering if I have a faulty unit
@@DisInfoWars Is that with a particular sound or with all sounds? Not every sound uses the knobs. The reversed sustain pedal probably has to do with the fact that are two types, with a closing switch or with an opening switch. Some pedals have a slider switch to change the setting. The setting can not be changed inside the MODX.
@@rudyshobbychannel It seems to be on every sound the value stays at zero, I'll try and post a video and give you the link to it. I'm also gonna test a different pedal see if that makes a difference. Thanks for your replies
First thank you for your video. Unfortunately, in the MODX the Control Assign button does not light when you select any parameter in the Quick Edit (except for three of them)... How frustrating is that...! imagine that the MODX has Attack, Decay, Release, Reverb on the EG/FX knob line (so you can control these using the knobs) BUT you can not control the sustain using a knob, not even being able to assign it to knob. Man come on, I am playing a synthesizer without having a knob for the sustain (you can not control the whole envelope using the knobs because of the missing sustain)... All the quick edit functions are not assignable to the knobs, so I have to do that element by element !!! This is a complete and a total failure for a synthesizer that is supposed to be a leading one by YAMAHA. They have to release a software update which allow us to assign the Quick Edit Functions to the knobs, otherwise it is extremely painful to use.
Hi, thank you so much for making this videos. Best step by step explanation on RUclips.
Thanks a lot for these videos .. best around so clear

Thank you for explaining that the sliders can not be assigned to the super knob and to use the encoders/knobs instead.
Thankyou for a great set of videos. What is the name of the organ piece at the beginning of this lesson?
It's the built in demo that comes with the Performance, I don't remember the name.

Hi, very good explanation!!!
Great video but I didn't understand the necessity to duplicate the part settings to 'Common' also
That's because I was planning to later use the Super Knob to controle these, and the Super Knob only works with the Knob functions assigned on the Common level.

@@TheSunlight74 I'll look into it
Question please - how I can add Distortion effect - I didn't find such effect & I want to control it from a knob
Have a look at page 144 of the MODX sounds and effects data manual: usa.yamaha.com/files/download/other_assets/5/1583935/modx_plus_en_dl_a0.pdf

Horrible instructions and could barely understand him. Do I need to initialize usb stick beforehand and on my PC or Montage?
