  • This is how I solder SMD LEDs. In this video, I am using the 1206 domed LED. Because it has a round dome, it has very little surface contact with the 3M double-sided tape and so, it sort of spins about.
I am also testing out a software called Open Shot Video Editor. It was difficult at first but after seeing a short tut on RUclips, suddenly it kinda became easy to use. So, this was unplanned and I just sort of went with it and yeah, my voice is not nice.

Blu-tack might be better to hold it still

      Not really.
When the soldering iron touched the SMD LED, there is a lot of heat around that area. The Blu-tack will definitely melt first and the LED will come loose.
Of all the double-sided tapes, the grey 3M tends to last longer before its glue weakens. This indirectly encourages one to solder fast.
