More than two years after two toddlers were reported missing in California City and a year after the District Attorney charged the adoptive parents with murder, opening statements were heard in the West boys’ murder trial.
Trezell West and his wife Jacqueline are accused of murdering four-year-old Orrin and three-year-old Orson.
The prosecution team presented its opening statement in the West Trial on Tuesday, March 28.

Well that sort of do. They do their best. I think a lot of them let a lot of little red flags go because they’re SO desperate for Foster parents. There simply aren’t enough. I mean by a LOT,just not enough. And then mostly the kinds of families that DO decide to Foster are desperate people who need the steady income. Not the cream of the crop.

Yeah I always have to think of that interview when a social worker gave a candid interview (unrelated to this case) and talked about how lucrative this whole market is, that it unfortunately attracted also the wrong people and that one case worker had to supervise a ton of cases. Most foster parents do it first and foremost for the money, fair enough, but authorities should probably rethink if it's wise to treat foster parenting as a full-time salaried position.
Sadly that's true for too many today! Especially single mothers who need extra income to either raise their own kids or buy that house without a spouse!
I do not live in the US but know what is going on in the world. Putting out an incentive for people who don't want to work to get paid for 'adopting' children is just a business now. Children are not disposable commodities. Money making ventures. I would love to know what Governnment body oversees the children in placement care.
“Babies for Benefits!” It needs to stop. The number of children who are abused, tortured, neglected and murdered through the foster care system is outrageous! One CPS failure after another. And once they’re adopted CPS never checks in on them. Too many people hurting their precious children! My heart breaks for them. We must, MUST fix this!

Children are the most helpless and most innocent victims in this country, and they get the least amount of press attention, and the least amount of federal protection, with one of the least funded agencies, CPS. People don't want to hear about dead abused kids on the news and crimes keep happening.
I remember the biological father was so distraught. He never wanted to lose his children. Very tragic when children are given to the state and then something like this happens.

@@Missvlog89 I don’t know. There’s all kinds of reasons. Sometimes CPS likes to try to convince them that they won’t have them and that it’s a good family and that it’s best for the kids. Sad all around.
@@Missvlog89 The biological mother rushed one of the boys to the hospital because he broke his leg, a case worker happened to be there and suspected that the mother abused him , turns out that the boy actually fell and broke his leg but the mom had to take parenting classes & the case worker had the boys removed & placed into foster care, the mom completes her classes but the foster parents had already started the adoption process with the help of the case worker, the biological mother , went through so many avenues to get them back but her requests were ignored & denied and they were adopted nout to the west's anyway. Smdh.

In the adoption process, how can someone be allowed to adopt a child when their only source of income is the proceeds from the state for adopting the child. Obviously there’s a financial incentive that’s not there without the adoption! it’s just mind-boggling.

@@lususloveThat wasn’t from their house it was a neighbors car and they had been missing for a while before he called 911. No footprints of kids found in the dirt. No car pulls up to their home at all and no person is ever seen walking up to their gate.
Another couple have come forward, claiming that the last foster parents that had their child were these 2. There has been no trace of the child since.
@@lususlove only footage of a car I’ve seen was their car. He got into it and drove away to pretend he was looking for the kids. He drove around the block, came back, then they called the cops and waited in the front yard.
If they don't tell the detectives were those sweet little angels "bodies" are; they should be sentenced to immediate death. This shit needs to stop.

I realize that this is not how the justice system works but we just get more and more child murderers lately and there is no slowing down. These animals should be put down. My father is serving life sentences in Florida State Penitentiary for committing evil and horrific crimes against children. My happiest day will be the day VINE let's me know he is gone from this world.

Agree. It blow my mind to see all these cases against CHILDREN. They did not asked to be here. They believe and trust in adults to love and protect them. I had to stop myself from full out sobbing at those photos of the boys last seen. All I see is my little brown son and how I’d give my life before I ever let anyone hurt their precious soul.
All the children we've been hearing about break my heart. But Cincere and Classic make me sob out loud. Those sweet round faces and big brown eyes were so sweet.
I worked with children for a good part of my working life, and I would have jumped in front of a train for any of them. It's safe to say I don't understand people like this.
All trials need to be live. Not only appropriate prison sentences for peoples crimes, but they must get humiliated and embarrassed, called out to the entire world, as the people they have shown themselves to be.

I’ve been searching periodically to try and find out what was happening in this case. Those poor little boys. I couldn’t stop thinking about them over that Christmas when they went missing.
The parents were soooo shifty in that interview, it made me so angry to think they likely knew exactly where those two little one were.

It shows how desperate the state is for foster parents when they allow these two monsters within an inch of innocent children. Its obvious these foster kids were only a meal ticket to this pair. The cruelty they inflicted on Classic and Cincere should be inflicted on them. It was obvious from their first interview that they were lying, even the masks couldnt hide their evil deeds. Justice for Classic and Cincere.
I think one of the biggest problems is the state and county paying private agencies to manage foster cases. The private agencies are paid to oversee these children’s home lives and often do a horrible job at judging the character of the adults who apply to provide care. We really need to put more money into this system and require extensive psychological testing. We need to disqualify adults who aren’t making enough money to provide their current family a comfortable life. There are so many more things we can do to help ensure a safer environment for these poor children.
These people were evil, especially the person that was supposed to be a mom to be a mom to these babies. They were literally still babies when they were taken from the only place they ever known was home. The only comfort they had was each other. This evil b*tch took that away, she kept separated. Then she would hold them down till they stopped crying. The older child testified that the mom and dad got mad because they cried all the time. They probably would've cried so much if she would've just let them comfort each other. But, she probably knew that and wasn't going to let that happen.

There's a lot of reasonable doubt on this one. I don't think the state ha what happened right and theyve not got a lot of evidence. One child said that another claimed to see one of the boys die, others have said the boys did move house with them it's very confusing. A lot of what they said in the first interviews they don't remember saying now as it's been so long.

As much as I want these two goofies to be held accountable, that opening statement wasn't very reassuring. It really makes one wonder what on earth Cal City police were doing all those weeks they sat around warning people about bothering the foster parents, and holding completely useless press conferences.

I didn't even know their trial had started. The Letecia and Lori trials have dominated the media and all the true crime channels. I just hope one of them will finally have the heart to tell where the boy's bodies are. I doubt they will but I can still hope.
Yes, the trial is on day 19 I believe, but no replay or video was permitted up until this point. Prosecution actually just rested. People were only able to listen live on the court audio feed, but apparently the judge allowed it to now be broadcast so everything you see now already happened 2 weeks ago. Defense just began their case in chief this week.

Very strange that Jacqueline never left the house. As a mother, you would think she would have run out into the yard to look around and out in front of house. They had other children at home, so I understand someone had to stay back with the kids, but as a Mom the first thing you're going to do is run out into the front yard/street calling for your children.
From what I've seen and heard re this case, I don't believe the boys were ever in Ca City.
The other children wasn't there. If they were there I would have them stay put in the house while I'm walking up and down the streets looking for my babies. That would be a natural thing to do.

It was reported at the time the other children were with grandparents so the couple could prepare Christmas presents but this couple couldn't explain why the 2 boys were not staying with the grandparents too. Then the couples poor excuse for these poor boys being in the garden in the late afternoon waa because they wanted to play with chalk despite it being too cold at the time of their alleged disappearance.
@@renettegordley3493 I wouldn’t leave any children at home alone if a different child of mine was missing. I’d want to be out searching but it wouldn’t be natural for me to leave small children at home alone. I would likely call over a trusted neighbor or family member to come stay with them.

Wait, why the hell is the state paying people to adopt kids. I can understand providing funds and resources for foster parents, because the goal usually is a safe and secure placement (as much as possible in that situation) for children until they can be reunited with their parents or other family members. But for someone to adopt them, they should be doing it with the intention of wanting to raise that child as their oen for the rest of their lives.......which includes wanting to provide them the things they need that costs money. Sounds like they are insentivizing the permanent displacenent of a child from their parents. So my question is, how much does the social workers and others involved get for each adoption? Where does the money come from? Obviously the tax payer but who is the middle man? This is very strange and wrony to me.

I remember this case breaking in the news. Chilling to hear what the siblings testified. Can't begin to imagine what happened to the little boys.

The trial is actually almost done. The prosecution has rested and defense just began their case in chief this week. Up until now, the only coverage was live audio feed from the court. Replay was not permitted. Apparently, the judge changed his mind

Everyone involved in this adoption should be tried and put in prison. The judge that signed the final decree, the caseworkers that placed those boys, every single person that didn't stand up and ask, "What the hell are you doing" should also go to prison. Who adds two children to a family that already has four kids, and no income? Eight people in a small apartment? Even my 5-year-old grandson can do simple math... Everyone involved in this adoption is culpable for their murders.

Ugh. I am so tired of bad audio during trials!! Trying to get through the interviews with Letecia Stauch last week, and now these interviews- it is incredibly frustrating! I’ve got my AirPods in and volume all the way up and still can barely make out what is being said.

And here we go again I am so sick of people hurting children if I was nit a convicted felon I would become a prosecuter or something I would put them all away to the best of my ability in a place where there I no protection just like they did not protect these innocent children. the DA should have offered a plea deal right off the hop soo now she has no reason to say a damm thing she gonna make everyone suffer she as nothing to lose here the DA job should have come up with some new chargers and offer it to her and jacqueline goes to prison for 50 to 60 years who knows gets put in PC gets 3 meals a day and gets to sleep on mattress while the mother of these kids gets not closure and the pain will always be there.
