This is for low skill fisherman. It is sad to see this technology promoted. It isn't cheating only because this hasn't been banned or made illegal by state fishing regulators. Though hopefully this will happen. Now, if you won "Angler of the year" with this technology an asterisk needs to be put next to that trophy. Bass pros should not brag or promote using this technology. It just reminds people you don't need that much fishing skill to catch quality fish.
Someday all you will need is knowledge of a polomar knot and have good forward facing sonar skills to be in the Elite Series. No one wants to watch that.
Has anyone here thought of the long term consequences of using forward facing sonar on our fisheries? As this technology becomes affordable and better higher fidelity everyone will have it. How is that good? Anywhere you go you can catch fish. The assault on fish stocks will suffer and most likely be depleted.
I know there are selfish people in this world who only care about themselves. Think about the future of bass fishing. What happens when every boat has this and everyone uses it to find fish? It is going to be a conservation disaster!
Also I notice a big push by the sonar companies to push this lately. They really don't like all the talk of banning this technology. Every pro posts a positive youtube video about this. Mike Iconellie had one the other day.
I'm starting to loose respect for bass pros. Bass Pros should do the right thing and stop with this forward facing sonar crap.
Kyle, Good luck with your fishing next year. Hopefully we will get to see you win Angler of the Year without using forward facing sonar. It would mean so much more if that happened.

I’ve been doing this for about 2 years. I keep my force trolling motor down and can view my scope from the seat while turning the force trolling motor with the remote. I initially did it when I got stuck in some shallow water and was trying to find a deep path out. On the river you will see metal transducer poles hanging off the front of barges. They are doing the same thing with traditional sonar

NOT Boring! The fish have evolved and so must the anglers. It is unfortunate that the cost of the new electronics has created a division in fisherman. There are those who can afford it and those who can’t. Just like $100;000 dollar bass boats, it’s a long way from the 12 foot Jon boat I learned to fish in, but that doesn’t make the expensive bass boats bad, just unaffordable for most of us.

@@Ray-z8rhence, being able to be competitive and work up through the ranks is also impossible. Even being realistically competitive at the club level is out because of the members who CAN afford it will dominate. Making them better at using modern electronics, again creating TWO types of anglers. Those who understand ecosystems and use that knowledge to pattern bass, and those who simply idle around and “shine” that spotlight. This is why it has become a sport ONLY for the ones with fatter wallets. Either outlaw it from tournament fishing, or SEPARATE it to CONTINUE to give club and local level anglers opportunities to move up. A BASS Open and the entry for it is out of reach for many, and this is no accident! The electronics companies pressured the directors to keep steep entries, and to ensure their products would be used in every single win!

Its absolutely unfortunate to say the least where tournament bass fishing is heading with ffs and new developments. I understand that to be truly competitive with AOY and classic births you have to join the crowd and use it but when does it get to the point where enough is enough. Your a good enough strictly shallow angler you would be up there with the likes of John Cox if you chose not to use it. 👍✌️ soldier I can understand why some people were even maybe a lot of people would call this cheating... But if it's not identified as cheating in the rule book?? Then I'm going to have to go with no it's not cheating... But we all know very well you are skating a very fine line and that's operating in that gray area that more often than not you're going to get in a lot of trouble you're going to have a lot of people complaining about it... Now granted you're not snagging 8 9/12 lb largemouth bass right before tournament hiding them in your in your live well and claiming your winning tournaments like this....... You're not sticking to 3 oz 4 oz weight on the gut of a bass and weighing him in... ✌️♨️

Boy it helps, but boy is it unfair to the fish. I’m having to look in odd places to find fish nowadays. Pressure is tuff on them fish. Fish are becoming like an ole Tom turkey half way through turkey season, gun shy of a lot of calling. 😳👍💯

"If it was easy everyone would do it" well-- tech made it easy, now everyone is a "fisherman" I would like to see a pro tournament with no sonar.

Originally i didnt like it but now i feel like its been around niw for 5 years and ive missed the boat. Doing all i can to get my boat rigged up. Someone needs to provide us regular joes with an affordable option like maybe 999.99$ for a 9 inch please.

I would say it’s more ridiculous than unfair 😂! I’m not a fan of ffs technology but if it’s allowed you gotta have it to compete 🤷‍♂️…

Stripes and hybrids are so much fun to catch. Two months ago on Hardin the ol jerk baits were tearing them up.

Saw your truck and trailer at the ramp the other night and you were the last to get off the lake. It was dark and you were still out there on the water. Thats why you won AOY, because your hard work payed off. Keep it up Kyle.
