✍ QUESTION: Practice writing sentences with 'in fact' by telling me something that's not true and then telling me what is true. Let me know in the comments! For example: A lot of people think I'm Canadian, but in fact, I'm from the U.S.

I thought I knew everything about the use of "in fact" before this video, but in fact, I didn't!
In my native language we have a perfect equivalent of "in fact" but only to confirm and clarify what has been said previously. When "in fact" has the meaning of "in actual fact" or "in reality", we cannot use that equivalent word; in fact (😜) it's so weird to me that in English we can use the same expression to confirm and to contrast something that has just been said.

Thanks for sharing! I'm so glad that you learned something new! When I teach words/expressions, I try to explain them in depth so you can really learn how to use it/understand it. Both uses of "in fact" are, in fact, very common! ☺
