I thought I knew everything about the use of "in fact" before this video, but in fact, I didn't!
In my native language we have a perfect equivalent of "in fact" but only to confirm and clarify what has been said previously. When "in fact" has the meaning of "in actual fact" or "in reality", we cannot use that equivalent word; in fact (😜) it's so weird to me that in English we can use the same expression to confirm and to contrast something that has just been said.
Thanks for sharing! I'm so glad that you learned something new! When I teach words/expressions, I try to explain them in depth so you can really learn how to use it/understand it. Both uses of "in fact" are, in fact, very common! ☺
learning English is quite difficult, in fact it takes me a lot of time and effort
Great example!
My friends think I have no stage fear as I give my seminar confidently but in fact, I do have stage fear and feel tensed.
I love watching movies, in fact, I watched one recently before the day of my examination 😂
Excellent examples! We usually say "stage fright" ☺
@@LearnAcademicEnglish OK ma'am,
Learned something new🙂(stage fright)
By the way ma'am, which is correct to use 1. Learnt or 2. Learned
Both are correct :) Learnt is British English, learned is American English
