St. Jude doesn’t only take care of children with cancer, my brother was born with a cardiac condition, and St Jude’s Children Hospital covered all of his medical expenses AND his funeral cost. He unfortunately passed away when he was four months old.
Thank you, Matt & Abby for supporting and promoting this AMAZING organization. They really helped my family out during a scary & confusing time. If you’re reading this, and you’re able to spare it, please donate a dollar. You’re helping more than you could ever know 🫶🏻

Such an inspiring episode! My 2 year old was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes last year and was admitted into the local children’s hospital and had to stay in the PICU. Me and my husband were so devastated and emotional. But the moment that I walked down the hall of children in critical condition, I knew that our situation was small compared to theirs. My son has the ability to take insulin and get another chance at life. Some of these children don’t get that and it really makes you not take life for granted. These stories made me so hopeful and I’m so glad you guys are spreading the word for them and helping out a great cause!

A family really close to us has a son (Brecken Owen) who is a cancer survivor. He was diagnosed when he was 2 and has been in cancer free for 2 or 3 years now and he is 7. They spent that time in Memphis and they never made them pay a thing. His mom, Valerie Owens, has a business now that she donates to St. Jude through that and does several fundraisers to raise awareness and give back. They would love to spread there story!

My son didn’t go to st. Jude but to Nationwide Childrens and I understand this mamas outlook of every day is a gift and being so thankful for everything they do for you. I was a single mom to a 12 month old little boy when I learned he had a brain tumor with severe hydrocephalus and that he needed an emergency tumor removal, once removed they let me know it was indeed stage 4 brain cancer and he’d need lengthy treatment. I was told not to worry about any bills, that I’d never see one and to just focus on my son. I lost my job, had to move back in with my parents, and had to have help with my car payment every month, but they were always one step ahead and helped in every way they could. I’ll be forever grateful for all that they did, including saving my sons life 😢❤

I can’t imagine what it’s like to have cancer at such a young age or even at all. I have had 3 brain tumors and I also have epilepsy. My last one was turning into bone marrow. I had my last surgery on the 23rd of January. It was awful. I would not wish that pain on my worst enemy. I am 14 and I have never found someone with the same experience and I am both happy and sad. It is awful knowing no one relates, but I am happy that they don’t have to go through that pain. I am hoping that they are all doing well. I feel bad that they had to experience the pain they have. I am happy they are all doing well now though. My goal is to become a neurologist to help people that have any kind of tumor. It would have loved to have someone who understands what I went through. I want to help people just like my doctor did for me and like them.

I believe a cancer diagnosis is always harder on the loved ones than the patient. I was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer 4 years ago at age 22 and the hardest part has been seeing how it affects my family. My boyfriend at the time stuck with me and became my husband 2 years later, and our sweet daughter was born last December. I am much more afraid something happening to either of them than my cancer returning

Child Life Specialists are literal angels on the care team! They support children’s psychosocial development, educate patients (as well as the whole family) on their illness in ways they understand, prep for procedures, provide procedural support and post-procedural processing, and they help kids cope and continue being kids through play while they are in the hospital. They are amazing! I am currently going through the steps to become a Child Life Specialist. It is truly a calling and pediatric cancer is what inspired me to take this career path 💛🎗️

    Love this episode
I live in Australia My brother and best friend went through cancer at the same time im am so glad to see there is an organisation that takes care of not just the patients but the sibling and families
I remember the day we found out about my best friend at school and the same day we finally got in for my brother to have a scan we didn’t even get out of the car park and we were informed something was very very wrong that night my brother and both my parents were in Sydney 5.5 hours always from where we lived
The moment that the most important people in my where all gone out of town for months at a time I will never forget
I went for visits but wasn’t able to stay for the whole treatment process
Xxx unfortunately my brother lost his battle but my best friend is still here and the bond between our family is so strong mum had someone she could relate to the whole journey

Was tearing up the whole time. I’ve watched all of your podcast as they’ve come out, but this one hit home. Donate today if you can, but there are so many companies you can donate through as well! Next time you order Dominos pizza you can donate to st Jude over the phone or if you order online.

Matt!!! Don’t beat yourself up! You’re so similar to me, in all your anxiety, I see and relate it in my own eyes. (Sorry Abby, I just have to tell him, stop being anxious. I wish wish wish I could relate to you’re sweetness, but I see his anxiety and relate to it. Praise God for the folks who can help reassure him. Very tough. Love you so much girl.) You can’t own everyone’s issues. You can’t declare each pain. It’s not your weight to hold. You may not pass it on and you cannot own it!!! With all these kids and your own, they are not related. Do NOT give satan the power over you. Gods got you, and your babies. Hold that. ❤

I remember growing up and doing the Math-a-Thon and other fundraisers for St Jude’s. You guys should become the Randy Owen of RUclips creators and get more of them involved. Call up Mr Beast and some of the others and get this thing rollin =o)

Take that it in. "We don't get to choose which prayers get answered." I wish more people would be mindful of this when they say their prayer was answered. It doesn't work that way. This mom is amazing and has a lot to share with the world. I hope people really and truly listen.

Thank you for making and helping to evolve these young family you tube podcast content. It was done with such helping hearts and the good that can come from this far outweighs watching a young family go to the beach. Going to the beach is good for some content but to start meaningful discussion is appreciated. Thank You. I have donated in the past and plan to again.

I have so much respect and admiration for mothers of children with cancer. It is the hardest thing in the world seeing your child sick or in pain and you feel completely lost and useless.
Child cancer is the absoulte worst! So many children and families have been affected by this devestating illness
What a miracle that Aspen is in remetion, so happy to hear that and see her sming face.
Love that you guys are doing this. God bless you guys

I had a friend who just recently passed from complications from cancer, I didn't know her long enough to know the things like Aspen was talking about. I'm praying for both families that God blesses them both with long healthy lives.

I absolutely love St Jude, always have always will! One of my very best friends had a 12 year old son that was a patient there in 2019. The lived at the Ronald Mcdonald house near there. Braxton was diagnosed with DIPG, a rare and aggressive tumor to the brain stem. So far there have been no survivors of this. The average survival rate for this is 9 months. He passed just a little over 9 months to the day of diagnosis. It was so hard to watch them go through this but at the same time, I had a peace because he had given his heart to the Lord about a year before. For nine months they always kept their eyes on Him and now, they have an amazing testimony! He also donated his tumor to the hospital for research. No one should ever have to hear that their child has cancer but thank the Lord for St. Jude!
