You have can excellent aircraft you lucky man. I flew my friends Nynja and was truly impressed even being used to the C42 and Eurostar. I liked the split doors for photography and got some great shots through the open window.
Really enjoying your videos and your straightforward approach. I’m 16 hours into my nPPL up here in Perth. Great airfield here great scenery- you mentioned going further afield and are welcome to visit cheers Graham
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment! Stick at your NPPL and get it done! It’s the best thing I ever did! I do plan on calling in at Perth this year actually. Im desperate to get up to Orkney and Perth was one of my planned stops for that route. I want to spend a week exploring beautiful Scotland if I can. There’s so much to see over there - it’s just beautiful!
Hi Jim, thanks for watching! Yes - I have been pumping the videos out for a few years now on and off but a year without a plane made me realise how much I do actually enjoy making them!
Great video! I was learning to fly a pa28 last summer - but costs of GA flying is through the roof. The Skyranger looks more fun and far more economical and cost effective👍
Thank you! Microlights are great if you don’t plan on taking more than one passenger! Definitely worth checking out particularly with the new 600kg weight limit!
Good all round visibility is a great aid to safety and situational awareness. That was something I liked about the Eurostar. Even considering you were only one up 2000 fpm is more than respectable.
Awsome looking plane , will you be doing more videos of it flying in the future? I’m looking at a skyranger for next aircraft so nice to see one flying
Thank you! Yes I will keep the videos coming. I am aiming for one a week at the moment. I might not always be able to keep up with that pace but I am going to try!
Hi Nick, great video. Glad to see you're enjoying your 600 Nynja - I love mine. I've also got the pram tidies in mine and would love to know where you got that toolkit that fits so neatly inside them.
Thank you! Yes I absolutely love it. The pram organisers are great aren’t they! You’ll be amused to know that the tool kit is also an Amazon special! Here you go Sealey MS164 Motorcycle Underseat... www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B06XSXPV6K?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
@@LetsGoFlying thank you. You should get an Amazon Affiliate account - there's two sales today between me and the guy who asked about the pram tidies!!
Aircraft that have bolted/riveted tubes and pre-sewn envelopes are simply screwed or bolted with pre-sewn envelopes laced into place. No painting is required. They are easy to construct and less expensive. However, only composite structures allow curves in all 3 dimensions, essential for aerodynamic efficiency.
Interesting video - thanks👍✌️😊💜 Beautiful aeroplane, you lucky chap✌️😊😊💜💜 Tool kit? Plug sockets? Also, when it's cold, do you have pitot heat? Is iit permissible to use waterless polish on the aircraft, several automotive brands are available.
Great video as always Nick. Maybe its too early to tell yet, but any negatives or any options you have & you don't think are worth it, or any you don't have & now wish you'd gone for?
Thank you! So far so good to be honest. If I could change it in any way I would stick a 40 litre wing tank in each wing and give more luggage space behind but to be honest, I don't need to. 4 hours fuel is more than sufficient and we can squeeze our touring kit in no problem. It would just be a luxury I guess.
Ha ha I did it without thinking. I have to be quick now as she has started doing her own pre-take off checks and she won't let me take off until she's done them!
Wow Nick! She really is an amazing aircraft, bet you are chuffed with her! Hope you are having a great weekend, also how long can she fly for on a full tank, mikes and time?
Thanks Ben! Absolutely chuffed to bits with her! Yes - weekend is going good thanks, I hope yours is too! Well it's a 60 litre tank and she burns 14 litres per hour at what I usually cruise at so I would say about 3.5 hours is the most I would want to go without refuelling. There's no way I would get 3.5 hours anywhere without Anna needing a "comfort break" anyway lol! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Nick - looking to build a 600Kg Ninja. Was that the CV E prop or the griund adjustable one ? Nice aircraft! I am based in Perth - did you ever make it up here?
Hi Jim, it’s a ground adjustable but it works in quite a clever way. It has a “constant speed effect” so there is an optimum angle for the aircraft type. I believe the root of the blades is stalled when there is no airflow which means the whole prop can spin faster (engine RPM hits just shy of maximum at 5750 which allows you to achieve full power) and as the airflow increases with airspeed, the roots of the blade are no longer stalled and can grab more air. As this happens, the engine RPM drops and once airbourne and climbing, it has dropped to approximately 5300-5400 RPM which I believe does give a shorter take off as well as faster climb and cruise but I haven’t seen any comparison figures. The max straight and level at 2,000’ should be approximately 5,500 RPM +/- 50 RPM. That’s how you set the pitch - off the max RPM straight and level at 2,000’.
I didnt see a transponder. Is that in your instrument panel? Thats a must have. I’ll answer my own question: you state you have a transponder in the next video. Glad to hear that.
Ahh yes NIIX is transponder equipped! I also have further electronic conspicuity with Pilot Aware which is a great traffic detection and transmission system.
Do you really need flaps for T/O? We stopped using them on our C42B because of how quickly it reached the flap limiting speed in those moments literally just after taking off. Seemed like an unnecessary risk of damaging the flap mechanism when you get off the ground in just a few seconds.
Good question! With tarmac I don’t bother but on wet grass I tend to want to get off the ground ASAP as everything is a bit soggy at the moment! Flap limiting speed (VFE) is quite high and not an issue for the Nynja @ 76 kts IAS. Whereas it’s either 57kts or 63kts (depending on the year of manufacture) on the C42B.
Hello from Oshkosh, Wisconsin! Can you tell me the height from the seat base up to those crossing bars above your head? Wondering if I could fit in the airplane
I did consider them yes but I barely use the brakes. Generally speaking I use them to hold the aircraft still during checks and for stop/start during taxi but rarely do I need excessive braking force on landing and when I do, the new and improved Nynja brakes are more than sufficient. The Berringer brakes are excellent but won’t get me wrong but I just didn’t need that kind of performance for the extra cost!
@@LetsGoFlying thanks for your thoughts. That is my thinking too. I'm hoping to spend the money I save on Beringers on wing tanks/bigger storage and an e-Prop prop/spinner. I see you have an e-Prop prop/spinner. Are you happy with your choice? Is it strong enough to pull the plane by the blade roots as you can with a standard Kiev prop?
May I ask how much you ended up paying for her? What was the difference from the kit you bought, to the final product having someone else finish the build?
I try and steer away from talking about prices as all new aircraft are changing so much it wouldn't be fair to disclose what I paid almost 18 months ago at a totally different economic time! For the factory build I paid the difference between the kit cost and the factory build option though. It was the full amount!!!!
I do love all that visibility. Its nice having that skylight on a high wing. Gives you a bit of comfort knowing whats above you.
It’s definitely useful! You can look where you are going through the roof during a steep turn!
@@LetsGoFlying im a pilot, and I can definitely appreciate all the visibility i can get. I favor high wings, so you can see the ground better.
