@mmc9828 The scale is the devil! I threw mine out years ago. I have been sooo much healthier mentally now that I don't track that way. I go by how my clothes fit, how I'm sleeping, how much energy I have, etc. Wishing you blessings. ❤️

@@mmc9828 - For what it's worth this carnivore newbie. Noticed that weight on the scale and the holes on my belt were not related!
In fact I saw the weight maintain pretty much the same. And at the same time I was obliged to make another tighter hole on my belt. Useless to say I was surprised. ;-)

Yes! Muscle makes the scale go up, but that a good thing! Body composition is so much more important than the scale. :)

I have been on carnivore for a year - have lost 66 pounds. I'm a 63 year old woman, haven't done any exercise. I weigh every day and it is a great insight into seeing what food affects you. Bacon, gammon, processed meat, cheese makes me stall. Over Christmas I ate more dairy, butter and I put on 3.5 pounds - it was interesting as 'people' say eat more fats or butter but doesn't work for me. I've now lost the Christmas weight and am a tiny bit lighter than I was at my lowest last year. Twila looks fantastic. I always think it's how you look with your clothes on rather than what you look like without. I've a lot of wrinkly skin which is more of an age thing - I've gone from 200 pounds to 134 pounds so it's not just excess skin through losing weight.

      Congratulations on your weight loss!
I removed sugar, grains and processed foods for the past four weeks. I lost 15 lbs, spider veins fading, mood outstanding, moved from just doing 5 minutes to 20 minutes on the treadmill. I started carnivore yesterday. I think the last four weeks have prepped me for carnivore. I need to lose the same amount as you. I started at 205.

8 month carnivore with fermented veggies about a table spoon now and then, cheese and heavy cream. Odd salad but doing less because I don't like how my bowels are the next day. Sparingly little fruit, about four times treats, or cheat days, or totally off the wagon so to speak but has not yet sent me into a binge. 67 years old retired 2 years, depression got me into this lifestyle. I have not given up yet again my smoking habit, and have continued my beer. Start weight 246lbs, now 178lbs, full off energy very happy looking and feeling sexy again. Will soon quit the smoking again. Have gone back to work at a nursing home and loving it. Our local nursing home is very short of nursing staff, I have the time energy and skills to be of some service. I won't go back from this way of living, depression got me started weight loss was a side effect but wonderful i am at my weight when I was 20

@Melissa-kl9li I wouldn't bother with shakes, they are full of all sorts of crap imo.
Maybe start doing ketovore for a mth or so then slowly transition to full Carnivore in the 2nd mth, then when fully adapted and using ketones instead of sugar, maybe reintroduce a IF if and when you want to but mix it up a bit - ie say 5 days if then 2 days eating 3 meals a day to help confuse the metabolism a bit.
Good luck with everything, I hope it goes well for you.

Mahalo me ke aloha lā, Twila, for sharing your story, and for being such a positive force!
It seems that we share a similar experience as I started my journey at age 54 and a few days ago, I am now 59. I lost 216 pounds and 24 inches around my waist. Like you I don't cheat as this is the first time in my life I am almost normal as my pants size size is the same as it was in third and fourth grade.
One of the things I wish Maria would discuss is how ancient Polynesia would get their protein sources as cows did not fit on our canoes and we ate more vegetables from the ocean.
I always wonder when the realization would come that the Pacific Basin's food, ecosystem and lifestyle from almost 2000 years ago is not like western cultures.
Western cultures, foods, and lifestyle has really impacted so many of the indigenous people in the Pacific with metabolic diseases and cancer

When your life is at stake with a toothache there’s plenty of motivation. Some of us need to hit rock bottom before we decide to continue on this path that’s so hard. It’s very hard bc we loose hope. The good thing is not going to supermarkets like in this diet bc it’s hard to not put items in your shopping cart that you can’t have.

I know i'm late to this chat party but i started carnivore Jan 9th, in the interest of truth i have been eating small amts of heavy cream and plain yogurt, the cream for my coffee and the yogurt to take my pills, and i have already lost 12 lbs! I mostly eat beef, ground beef and any cut of steak i can afford. Eggs eggs more eggs! I try to vary the way i cook them so i don't get bored but so far i'm still loving it! It's MUCH cheaper than buying the huge varietyof other " food" you buy in the grocery store. As a bonus my fridge and kitchen are neat and organized ! I gave 25 grocery bags of food to my neighbor who is a single mom of 9 yo twin girls. They were thrilled because there were so many snack foods lmao. Anyway clearing out my kitchen was the only way i could have succeeded on carnivore. The cravings were so bad for the first week and using stevia in my coffee helped a LOT. I have been decreasing the amt of drops until now i use 4-5 drops in a big mug. I love this lady's story and it touched me, because i'm an older gal at 64, and at my heaviest i was just 293 in Dec and am 5'9". I am now..had to run weigh myself cuz it's been a week, i am actually down to 266!!
That is my encouragement to see this through the 90 day goal i set myself! I love your channel and your website Maria! Thank you!!

I'm happy for her but I can't help feeling so jealous 😢
I've been clean keto for 5 years this month. Still have a long list of health problems, despite improving many issues. Got off a literal bagful of meds, trying so hard not to allow my Dr to talk me into starting back down that road. My A1c is 6.4, despite doing almost Carnivore the past year. I'm having gut pain and chronic diarrhea daily for almost 2 years. This had disappeared in my early keto days... but then just showed up again. My Dr is convinced that I need statins because my LDL cholesterol is through the roof at 415. My triglycerides and HDL are just in "normal range". Weight has been steadily rising after having Covid 2 yrs ago. My daily diet is mainly eggs, meat, yogurt (helps my gut), a little cheese once in awhile and very rarely a keto treat made with coconut flour (no nuts! suffered from oxalates in the past so I avoid high oxalate foods). Haven't tried PSMF ... my last hope! Btw, recent bloodwork shows zero ketones, despite me eating mostly meat.

AND I would like to add that even with Gastric Band or Gastric Sleeve surgery, you can still eat the wrong things and undo the reason for the surgery in the first place. You still have to watch what you eat. So many have gone off the rails with surgery and mostly because they end up eating the wrong things.

Great accomplishment! It's satisfying when you finally lose that unwanted weight. I lost 109 pounds (half the weight of a refrigerator) in less than 4 months and have kept it off since then. Just like every woman struggling with weight loss now, I yoyoed for years - staying on track for a month or 2, losing a few lbs in the process before falling off. And each time I fell off, I just gained the weight back plus more. In July 2021, I was at my heaviest - 255 lbs... See full story on my channel.

@@teganh9317 I have been on keto/low carb 90% of the time. I ended up getting tested for food allergies, intolerances and sensitivities. Apparently I have a combined 56 food allergies, intolerances and sensitivities, this includes lettuce, broccoli, cauliflower etc etc. The majority of them were vegetables and this has caused massive inflammation in my body. I did try to tell the Dr that I was getting rashes, headaches and some things were causing shortness of breath, lettuce would actually burn like acid going down, she dismissed it as not food related, that’s when I asked for testing to be done. I’m now thinking carnivore would be best for me, the only meat that came up on the no go list was octopus and crocodile (I live in Australia), I can’t say I eat much croc 🤣

High fat is the way for me. I tried this high protein, low fat method for years and was exhausted and brain fogged all the time. I cut protein and dramatically increased the fat and immediately felt better. And it’s causing my clothes to grow whereas the low fat approach kept me fat.

As for digestion issues, it can take a bit to adjust to eating more protein. Adding HCL and digestive enzyme can help:
