Honestly bro I fly first class just for that very reason and I have first dibs / assigned overhead storage bins that way I don’t have to worry about having to check my luggage. Edit: ok I commented early before hearing you mention my point.
Yes first class is great and I’ve flown first class a few times but I never found it worth the money personally but more power to you frequent first class flyers 🫡
Did you have to check it prior to getting through TSA or once at the gate? I check my bags at the gate. It's free at the gate, and it's some of the last bags to go under, thereby making it some of the 1st luggage out.
I would have to check it at the gate but even then I just did not trust that the gate agents would handle with care and I don't blame them but then i didn't want it all dinged up and battered.
Hey boo! I have a question, when you’re forced to check it in, are you boarding the plane first ?? I’ve heard that if you fly first class or board the plane first then you don’t have to worry about checking it in. Thoughts ?? Cause checking it in would be my only deal breaker I’m thinking of purchasing this in the Monogram Empreinte Giant leather. So it’ll wear better! I’ll probably use it more for road trips than flights.
So when i've flown business class or higher then I didn't have any issues. But I also fly for company trips(they nor I am going to pay to upgrade) and if the trip is a busy route those first boarding seats are taken quickly. But the trip I just came off from San Fran last week. I was in boarding group 2 and had to check my now regular rolling luggage. The plane was pretty small. After they do the preboarding/fam w small kids/military/that airlines club members/handicapped and all that I ended up having to check. They had room on the plane but they still made us check it. It's not even sometimes that they don't have the room they just want us on and off the plane quicker so they throw our stuff in checked.
i don't think I found that the quality was there but you are right to only have it for road trips. i think I'll skip future hard luggage luxury purchases
almost all of mine is bought preloved now. at the time i got this piece there were no used one anywhere I looked and I had been looking for about 2 years
Some people, like myself, try to keep our more expensive items in pristine condition when possible. It’s not about whether they can continually buy new luggage. It’s simply if you worked hard to pay for something, you want to treat it well.
I totally agree with the worrying. It’s not just worrying about it getting banged up but also fear of it getting stolen. Honestly even if I could afford to buy new suitcases all the time, that’s nutty! Frankly the whole scenario is always worrying if you fly regular class. Even if one pays to board early, you may have to check it. There is so much stress around flying these days with this worry on top of it. Having said all that…I bought my first carry on LV in 2000 and I still use it. I bought this same suitcase you have here (55) and sent it back. It just felt extravagant for the fears well discussed here!

Thank you for this. You've helped me make my decision. I am just going to go with the Rimowa and I’ll get the LV backpack
Since the airlines have gotten so cheap, it's just not worth the headache in my opinion. Yes go with the Rimowa
Debating if I am going to get these, now I am set on just buying an LV Discovery backpack . Thanks for making my decision easier.
i think anything you can't keep near you may be best not to buy if the primary purpose will be flying
How much do you sell this item for

Thank you for your thorough response!🥰 These airlines too wishy-washy for me😂😂
Do you fly economy? You always have a reserved overhead bin when you fly business or first.
Depends on the trip, if it's a business trip they don't pay for upgrades and I'm not paying for it either as it won't be reimbursed.
Just got mine today and I’m terrified that they’ll make me check it. What suitcase did you replace your Louis with?
I just got a regular samsonite luggage, i may get a tumi soon
I love my ebene 55. However, I only use it for car travel as I roadtrip alot. I'm actually thinking of getting the 70 for more space.

Pelican 1615 bro! That’s the way to go!
What did you replace it with btw?
I just went back to my samsonite luggage I’ve had for years. They can toss that around all day for all i care
I feel like all LV luggage should be purchased pre-loved.

Understood.
I feel if you can to buy it why worry about it? It’s just luggage you can buy more 🤷🏽♀️
