Thanks for the video. I'm going in October for 5 days and flying in to POP originally I booked to Santo Domingo but realized the 5 hrs ride to Sosua. As you can see this is my first trip to the DR 😀 thanks for the tips regarding the wall outlets.
Have a nice trip, it will you take 15 minutes to get from the airport to Sosua, very quick ride unlike many other countries. Everybody makes mistakes 1st trip to a new country, your 2nd trip will be much smoother.
mmafan3 Also flying into Santiago (Sti) and then taking the bus to Sosua can save $100 - $150 instead of flying into POP. It takes about 3 hours to complete this all. Take public taxi to bus station around $6 - $10 us. Then bus ticket around $4. The Metro bus takes you into Sosua. The other bus line does not. Then you have to pay for another taxi or moto. This all depends upon your comfort & if saving around $50 per hour is worth your time. I owned a car there for ten years so I have also done a lot traveling. Now I take the bus or public transit. I still don't care to ride on a motorcycle. Way too many accidents.
I didn't know they had money changers outside the airport. Last time I was there I just changed a little bit of money at the bad rate inside the airport so I would have pesos to catch a ride outside.
I didn't have much luggage so I was being cheap and going for public transport instead of the taxis. You can get a moto on the road if you don't have a lot of luggage. The local buses (guaguas) and shared taxis are harder to deal with if you don't speak good Spanish.
Yes, the airport seems close to the main highway, I took a moto to the airport on the way home... Won't do that again. Being on the back of a moto going full speed down a steep hill..I would rather pay extra for a taxi.
Paul Douglas Dembowski When leaving the airport (back pack or less) you walk out to the main road, carefully walk across the road & then you can take a public taxi for $2.00 us, probably less in pesos. They will drop you off in Sosua. I'll be in Sosua the middle of Sept. - Oct. Hit me up. timoteo1313@yahoo.com. Later.
Nice review. The best exchange rate is at the banks in sosua or the supermarkets. They have alot of cheap air bnbs mine was 25 a night

Hi, the taxi drivers from the airport will take US Dollars.
