      @@juxtaposeism, exactly! Somewhere between 300-400 forced laborers, POWs from Yugoslavia was used to construct this fort. 65 died in the making. The conditions in their camp, "Austråttleiren" (The Austrått camp) were poor.

      The reason why its in such good conditoin is that the fort was maintained by the Nowegian coastal defence up to 1979

      @Liam Aspback Well,all I can find of online sources. Says that those guns in the picture of the Austrått Fort,is from Gneisenau.
      en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Austr%C3%A5tt_Fort "The fort's centrepiece is a triple 28 cm SK C/34 (11-inch) gun turret from the German battleship Gneisenau, which was damaged in Kiel. "
      As far as I know,that was what the subject was about.

      @RuturiaNationalAnthems Thats not correct. Scharnhorst and Gneisenau had triple 28cm-turrets from the beginning. They were supposed to get swapped out with the 38cm-twin turret which the Bismarck class had. In addition im a little bit curious about you mentioning Großer Kurfürst as there was no ship in the Kriegsmarine with this name. I do however know two ships called Großer Kurfürst but the first one was a König-class battleship with twin turrets which was scuttled at Scapa Flow. The other one is a widely fictional battleship from World of Warships which never existed and is loosely based on the H-Klasse battleships.

      The turret is actually the Gneisenau's Caesar turret. The Ratte has double barrels unlike this one.

      Enemy the amount of men lost and machinery taken up going into Russia certainly led to the downfall. Big mistake by hitler,who knows what might of happened had he choose not too

    • @Pop1nsk1
      @Pop1nsk1 6 лет назад +2

      Thailand escapades yes but im saying he would have lost if he HADN'T gone as well. It's a matter of resources and manpower. Germany would have been attacked on all sides, much like ww1. He had to attack USSR at some point though to try and take them out of the war. The earlier the better. He just made huge mistakes in going for Stalingrad instead of the oil reserves.
