When a photographer with an attitude is assigned to the 73 crew, McHale and the boys must work up a plan to get rid of her.
I watched these as a kid, nearly 50 years later the jokes are still funny, and gags still work. Even more amazing though the eyes of a kid, and now the eyes of a retiree, it is still top entertainment. Not much on current TV will last the time and appeal to all ages.
They don’t make quality family tv shows today like they used to. Ah the good old days. Thanks for sharing and Rest In Peace Mr. Conway. 😪
One our family's favs. Even cracked up my Greek immigrant dad. No easy task.😂
Thank you for showing McHale's Navy!!!! Brings back good memories in these trying times.
I agree!!!! I used to stay with my grandmother and grand father every now and then when i was a kid. If i had trouble sleeping id get up and my grandmother would be in the den laughing watching this show... seeing this again reminds me so much of her so thank you! Il besure tonwatch all of these
ALL OF THESE VARIOUS OLDER CLASSIC TV EPISODES ARE REALLY GREAT TO SEE ONCE AGAIN SO MANY YEARS AFTER THE DAYS OF OUR YOUTH WITH MANY NOW VERY WELL KNOWN ACTORS BEFORE THEY REACHED THEIR ULTIMATE FAME -
THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR FINDING AND POSTING THEM HERE.
Tim Conway’s greatness could already be seen here
Jackie Boy, now you've done it, now I have to watch an episode or two of McHale's Navy every night before bed. I love it, thanks heaps!
Thanks Jackie Boy for bringing back some more great memories
Back when I was a bit younger, miss those days and shows. 😜
One of the best comedies ever!
Great show - hearing all of the show including the music during the credits really takes me back in time. Thank You very much for doing such a good job of preparing this video.
Tim Conway was a Truly GREAT comedian He will be Missed RIP
I liked him better in MC Hales Navy then in Carol Burnett
@@bartleywalton1888 I liked him equally in both shows.
Mchales Navy , wow , what a great series , all of the guys in this show , made it what it was ! But , my personal favorites were , Joe Flynn and Carl Ballantine , Binghamton and Gruber , I loved Gruber's "Flatbush" approach to life's everyday problems ! And Binghamton's , "somebody's , just got to hate me , up there" !!!! I've been watching these guys since I was a kid, and since the shows initial run ............
.pn
I wonder If Ernest Bougnine ever knew that he was loved in Latin America, from this series to Airwoolf and his early movies....we saw them all.
Jackie Boy, thank you for your time putting these up on RUclips.
Takes me back to the GOOD ole days.
I loved McHale's Navy. Shenanigans in the service. That seemed to be the trend during the 60s
I'd rather watch old stuff on RUclips than new stuff on SKY.
RIP Mermaid Man And Barnacle Boy
I loved this show! great! I just read where Tim Conway is suffering from dementia. so sad. all these guys were gold!
I know. He was great at ad libbing.comic genius.
@ The Rin tin tin reference went entirely over my head.
I can binge on PT 73. I saw a great documentary the other day on Pt boats. The crews spent MORE on their boats than on land. They were so stretched on supplies - they DID drag their clothes behind their boats! They made torpedo juice "on board" and at least one of the crew acted as cook.
I think, at the start, the Navy had probably not provided enough tenders for them. The S-boats were built in tandem with dedicated tenders from the outset, and went everywhere with them, defending their mothership when they had to. Seems the USN just let the PTs use mossie-ridden jungle islands instead. Rough.
When I see this show it brings me back when I was so young back to 1963 it was so simple back then..Just being 8 years old.. Gas was 29 cents a gallon..you can Rent a house for 400. Month or 500. It was cheap to live back then...I wish I can go back in time..😀🌟🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲😫🙏
Another great wholesome tv show. Thanks Jackie Boy
RIP, Tim Conway. You will be missed....
AMEN R.I.P.
Ens. Parker: "POWIE!"
THE LAUNDRY 🤣
One of my favorite shows when I was a, kid And still is today
I love how the boat is travelling forward but the flag is flying sideways. Always fun to watch McHale and the boys.
Aww, the shot of McHale you can see the boat's not at full speed... look at the wake. It's gentle, not a great ploughed tear in the sea with white plumes. The two shots are not contradictory, given there's an edit between them (passage of time).
But that said, there is a lot of silliness and nonsensicality in this; not too much for fun though. I am surprised, just finding this now, that Bilko (which I love) was endlessly re-run over here (UK) but this never was.
That was pretty damn funny. I must have missed that episode those many years ago.
thanks for uploading these fine shows
Jackie Boy you’re tops in my book. Thanks pal
12:19 Gruber has nothing on his left hand and then comes in with a splint. LOL
That was Christy's arm, not Gruber's. Gruber wasn't even outside the hut at the beginning of this scene.
LOL Love this show. I'm surprised there wasn't smoke coming out of McHale's ears, he was so mad.
A great actor.
Yeah - Back then you got 25 minutes of TV to 5 minutes of ads in a 30 minute show. Now it is the other way around.
LOL
lmao
@潘卓Pan_Cho Yeah, I'm to the point of not wanting them myself.
Not really. Sitcoms are about 22 minutes and change. So it's not really that much different. What's different is the hourlong game shows like The Price is Right. Those used to be 52 minutes or so. Now they're 39 minutes...sometimes 37.
Thanks for bringing this great show for viewing.
This one hit me in the giggles!
ALL THE BEAUTIFUL COMEDIENNES HAVE PASSED R.I.P. AMEN 🙏 🙏
Well, folks, now that Tim is gone, the Lord is setting up a first-rate PT Boat crew.
??? which god would stick Tim on a boat ???
"McHale's Navy has aged well!!
Always was surprised that there never was an episode called Gruber gets shot.
RIP Tim Conway.
RIP Ernest Borgnine And Tim Conway

McHale's Navy Full Episode: Season 1x2 : "A Purple Heart for Gruber"
another classic wonderful series
PT Boats rock.
why can't they make family show's like this again, instead of the junk we have on t v today
Mchales navy got me to sign up for the navy .
Ernest Borgnine recalls when the series was in the planning stages they asked for and got a technical advisor from the USN. When he saw the script, he said "this isn't the Navy!" No, replied the producer, it's "McHale's Navy." The advisor stormed out, "don't call us, we'll call you!" On the last year of the show, Ernest got an invitation to join the Secretary of the Navy for lunch. When he asked, the Secretary explained USN recruitment soared because of McHale's Navy.
@@gtgene Haha... great story!
@Brian Landers Same here, but the sitcom had been off prime time for years, and besides that would be like thinking Sgt Bilko or Gomer Pyle is how the Army or Marines operate.
@Linda McPike You're a girl!
@Brian Landers Nah, you probably just watched I Dream of Jeannie
Great show ☺️.
ah
500,333 views congrats on 500k
For those who don't know or never herd of this word before. SNAFU is an acronym. "situation normal, all f***ed up." Also, Privet Snafu, is an old classic military training cartoon(s) designed to teach the solder/sailor, of the time, what it is and how NOT to be a f**k up. Basically a f**k-up prevention film. Very popular during it's time, especially during WWII. Search Privet Snafu and enjoy some of the films your grandad, father or perhaps even your mother and grand-mother used to watch. And Yes, there were females in the military back then. lol Sadly, I scarcely doubt there are WWII vets around today. But lets thank them anyways for their service and sacrifice. RIP and thank you Ladies and Gentlemen of the WWII US Armed Forces and the military of our true Allies. Your children and grandchildren and fellow Americans and allies of foreign countries will never forget you.
buzz bang , great write-up, loved this show as a kid. Thanks from
Former Army Paratrooper, Geronimoooo
Jokes aside - let's not forget our: "unsung heroes."
Or the poor marine life.
All those waves going unridden!
They didn’t know it, but, they were in amazing wave territory.
tHANKS FOR THE UPLOAD jACKIE BOY
Thank you!
MASH season minus 5 with Tim Conway playing the Radar position.
McHale's navy, Hogan's heroes, F troop, Beverley Hillbillies, Petticoat junction, I dream of genie,...talk about lucky - so funny, as a kid you may not have picked up on the innuendo but you certainly figured it out from the que's of your elders...it was entertainment, a lighthearted look at some tremendous worldwide issues of a generation back.
McHale and his crew talking about going to "brizbane' or MELbourne made it seem a little real (living in Brisbane)..
Ww2 stories as told by family and friends, as it was in the 1970's seemed to me to be so ordinary, so common, so casual in comment that you forget that that they are true...that man or woman was there..but they laughed, and drank, they were happy to talk and sad to remember....
THE FUNNIEST CHARACTERS ON THIS SHOW ARE IN THIS ORDER: CAPTAIN BINGHAMTON, ENSIGN PARKER, LT. CARPENTER, LT. COMMANDER QUINTON McHALE, POW FUJI, AND GRUBBER WHO ALWAYS MESSED THINGS UP.
I used to watch McHales Navy when I was a Nipper - it's much better compared to other so called 'entertainment'
Excellent episode !
Just found out "By the Great Horn Spoon" is a 1960s reference, not a WWII era reference. One can forgive a lot, but that's really pushing it.
Too much nostalgia. Remember watching the reruns early 70's. Didn't have a care in the world.
Great show.RIP Tim
Awesome Show
classic t.v
Excellent
Actually quite entertaining.
Sad to learn this summer Tim Conway now has dementia.
Great show glad I could watch it here on y tub
Bensonhurst is in Brooklyn.
I wonder if they ( The PT Boat crews ) really did they're laundry that way ?
Yes they did
Great entertainment
Fantastic….
Thank you.
CAN ANYBODY DECODE THE FLAG SIGNAL THAT IS SHOWN IN THE SHOW INTRO ? I used to watch this show as a kid, and only now does it occur to me there might be some secret/funny message flashed at us that only old Navy vets were meant to notice and smile at.
TedBronson1918 it spells “CHKL”...I assume chuckle.
@@robhofer2390 Thanks ! A nice, simple message to just have a laugh. I just knew it had to be something, being so prominent. I've never heard it mentioned before, though. I'm sure all the signalmen caught it.
This style of toned-down screwball humour, performed with such gusto, still lands. The secret is; the ingredients have to be best quality and you have to follow the recipe. It's a bit of a perfect storm really.
Compares very well with the non-combat 'Phil Silvers Show'.
Back to the China Fleet Club...… for your uniforms!
Look at the video time----25 minutes which left only 5 minutes for commercials when on TV back then---nowdays we get 15 minutes of commercials for 15 minutes of TV......
Funniest one yet 😆 👍❤❗🇺🇸
Anyone know what the signal flags in the intro say?
CHKL
Love watch show on you tube videos
Hubert Scott-Paine, a British aircraft and boat designer, designed and built hard chine motor torpedo boats. American Electric Launch Company (Elco) agreed to purchase a 70 foot British Power Boat which became the template for similar boats to be built under licence. The vessel was taken to Elco’s facilities an so this is written to scotch any comments that the PT boat originated in the U.S.A. Please check and do proper research before putting any fingers to a keyboard.

You posted the wrong plot for this episode.
Know it's just tv and all. But how is he supposed to keep the top on the barrel?
thanx d
Hey, numb nuts.... it's called a "stinger". Learned that fishing for walleyes. If anyone wants to know... there was an old turkey hunter...
You figure it out.
@12:59 no different than what John Kerry put himself in for
ProjecthuntanFish you're obviously an effing idiot who never served a day in the service but you're right there to criticize someone who actually served in combat, what an ass clown you are. Effing Fox News is waiting for you coward!!
Ps.F U
Carl Ryan yeah that coward Trump got 4/5 deferments. These idiots never served a day but they're they are putting their big mouth in print.
Borgabunda. Isn't that the fussy wussy name for Gilligans Island?
POWIE!
like this episode reason create extra cash.
8:32 👌👌👌
If they ever get rid of Grubber, they'd avoid a lot of trouble
Gruber was one cast member who made the show great.
Quartermaster christopher arm didn't move when parker hard Left rudder!
