      I’m so so so happy to hear that! Hearing aids will be hard to keep in at first but just keep putting them in. Your baby will get used to them and greatly benefit from them.

    Ever since covid ive been really bad about not wearing my hearing aids. I need to put myself on a schedule cause if I don’t need to talk to people or not listening to music I turn off my hearing aids.
    Good video! Wonderful information for parents!!

      In my opinion that is a-ok!! You can wear your aids whenever you please! I just encourage parents to keep their children's aids in because it breaks my heart when parents say they're too lazy to put the hearing aids in for their child - they don't realize what their child could be missing out on. Thank you for watching!

      @@DefiniteHearing well I already started. Put my hearing aids in after I got done watching. Plus it’s probably a good idea for me to start wearing them more often so I don’t get sensory overload when we go back to in person things.

    Hi! I just came across this video and I am so interested in learning more! My 16 month old has moderate to severe hearing loss in both ears as well, and has hearing aids. He is currently in the stage where he wants to constantly pull them out, and it's so difficult to stay on top of. I would LOVE an opportunity to speak with you about your experience growing up with hearing aids! I am also excited to watch more videos and see what other advice you have to offer. Thank you for sharing!

    Another informative video. As adult I need a schedule of putting them in and I have been consistent since I found out that it is tied to dementia which I greatly fear since it runs in my family. I know for a child that’s a long way off but turning 70 on Easter...how cool is that? It’s more of a concern for me. I take my hearing aids off at bedtime because they are rechargeable and needs to be recharging while I sleep so that I can wear them all day. I don’t know if they make them for children rechargeable hearing aids.

      HAPPY BIRTHDAY on Easter!! That is so special! I'll be thinking of Jesus Christ and you on that day.

    Are custom ear molds still helpful for mild/moderate hearing loss? Edit: How much feedback is normal?

    • @DefiniteHearing
      @DefiniteHearing  3 года назад +2

      YES!! I am such a fan and advocate of custom ear molds. They ensure the hearing aid has a good ear seal, stabilize the sound pathway and enable high-quality sound delivery. Ear molds are worth the cost and in my opinion, domes should only be used if ear molds cannot be paid for. Feedback wise, feed back should be rare - it should only happen when things are pressed on the hearing aids. For example, wearing a hat, putting a head on a pillow, etc.

      My child has mild hearing loss. He has seen several audiologists, and they all agreed that because of his specific loss, domes were better for him. We did get earmolds made because he kept losing his aids, but now that he's older, we took the molds off and are using domes.
      I recommend that you ask your audiologist for the pros and cons of molds for your specific situation.

    My little boy is 9 and all of a sudden he got moderate hearing loss in his right ear. He just got a hearing aid a few weeks ago and everyday is a constant battle of him taking it off and now with school starting he don’t want to wear it bcuz he’s afraid kids will make fun of him 😞… Any advice for us?

      Alright I've re-written this response a couple of times. You are your son's father so here are my thoughts and you can share what you feel is best. For your son: 1. Hearing aids don't always feel great at first for emotional reasons, it takes practice to get used to wearing them. 2. Your son's experience reminds me of a specific experience. Two "popular" boys tried making fun of me once and I'd just turn my hearing aids off and tell them "Best part of my hearing loss *turned aids off* What? I can't hear you." and ignore them until they went away or remove myself from the situation. 3. Find just even one best friend.
      For you: Help your son surround himself with good people. Invite your son to invite his friends over to your home in the evenings. Create a safe space for him to foster good friendships that'll hold strong at school. I hope this helps.

      @@DefiniteHearing thanks he’s doing great and getting used to it! His friends love him for him is what I told him and he hasn’t had any issues at school. I kinda thought his age group wasn’t that way just yet. Came home with a love letter the 2nd day haha
