    Your PartDShopper is much appreciated. I feel like you've already done a major portion of the work for me by weeding out companies you do not recommend. I trust your judgment. Being able to sift through and compare from the list you recommend makes it much easier for me to choose, based on my prescription needs and costs. Highly recommend.

    It is interesting to see how much changing from generic to brand name changes pricing, and even coverage, in these plans. And i see that some plans are actually cheaper, if less convenient, getting the prescriptions at a local pharmacy instead of mail order.

    One observation...in researching drug plans, I read that the $2,000 only applies to drugs the plan covers. If you are prescribed a drug that the plan doesn't cover, the $2000 doesn't apply until drugs from the plan have exceeded that amount. Since the $2000 is something the government will be implementing, is this an exception to this new policy?

    • @MedigapSeminars
      @MedigapSeminars  2 дня назад +3

      That is correct, prescriptions not covered by the plan are not included in the maximum out of pocket. That is why the consumer, with their doctor's help, should appeal any drug they need that isn't covered. Most appeals are succesful and the insurance company ads your drug to your formulary as a Tier 3. It is then included in the maximum out of pocket limit.

      I looked at 2 Humana plans that covered all the drugs I take. There is a significant difference in the premiums- $40/mo vs $70/mo. Any reason why the higher premium plan would be better?
      Thx

    Matt, I hit 65 at end of March, started Part A & B in June, with a supplement. I am also a Vet with access to health care and prescriptions. Do I need a Part D plan, or can I skip it?

    • @MedigapSeminars

      @@davidsyrus3157 VA coverage is considered Creditable coverage for Part D. But you can only use it for prescriptions given to you by a VA doctor. If you want to be able to get prescriptions outside, the VA will need a Part D plan.

    Your videos are very informative. You indicated in your video that you do not "work" with all the Part D insurance providers. I noticed that on your Part D shopper, at least in my zip code, some of your recommended plans had lower star ratings compared to those that did not show up because either you do not recommend them or you do not "work" with them. Can you go into a bit more detail about your filtering process for the Plan D plans as it relates to the Part D shopper? Thank you.

    • @MedigapSeminars
      @MedigapSeminars  День назад +2

      @@robmetcalf1228 it is much more complicated than can be detailed here. However, there are several lawsuits against Medicare ongoing because of how they measured insurance companies for star ratings this year There were declines across-the-board related a response to one specific phone call that Medicare made. In addition, star ratings do not in my opinion and reflect customer service at all. In fact in this year’s star ratings, the measurement of customer service was given a lower emphasis in order to add a DEI rating. Anyway, I have a video on AEP for 2025 that discusses this and some more detail

    • @BLS-v-u9t
      @BLS-v-u9t 11 часов назад +1

      @@MedigapSeminars Thank you. I guess I was putting too much emphasis on the star ratings. I had picked one plan over another based on that but have now decided to go with the slightly lower rated plan that is less total cost and lower monthly premium and still has convenient preferred pharmacies. (Again, from the PartDShopper list.)

      Aetna no longer offers that plan through independent agents. Aetna is going through some difficult times with its Part D and Advantage plans. CVS was going to sell off Aetna, but just this past week the CVS Board elected to fire the head of Aetna and replace her with a proven CEO who was head of of the CVS Caremark brand.

    Just retired at 66 and Medicare eligible as of November 1. But how long do you have to select a Plan D initially? Would it be possible to start Plan D January 1st or does it have to be on the same date as you get your Plan B started? We don't have Rx, but want a plan. But would be happy to skip Nov/Dec if we can without penalty.

    You advise not to use hypotheticals. However, couldn't the cost some commonly prescribed drugs (e.g., apixaban, antiandrogens) quickly overcome the premium/deductible cost of a low-premium/higher deductible Part D plan that was selected because you were not yet prescribed these? Wouldn't a plan based upon "hypotheticals" offer a bit of "insurance" against being penny wise and pound foolish. All insurance is based upon hypotheticals. No?

      I know I added a prescription to my list that my doc has discussed but not yet prescribed for me to see coverage/pricing in my estimates but haven't removed any existing prescriptions. I haven't added any totally hypothetical drugs. YMMV.

    • @MedigapSeminars
      @MedigapSeminars  12 часов назад

      @@jazcatFL that is not a hypothetical. Hypotheticals are when people pick and choose illnesses and conditions. They don’t have, never expected they would have, just random health issues.
