Technically speaking, there was no actual transformation, right? It was just the way he was viewed that was changed and prompted the elvish name, 'Morgoth'.

Though he was named Melkor in his Valar form. But took on the Dark Lord form from Morgoth onwards. He did look different between each technically.

Morgoth is just the name that Feanor called Melkor after he stole the Silmarils. Did anyone read the book ?
