My sister is my mom's first child and only daughter, so she naturally favors her a bit. Then there's me, who was a bit of a problem kid and who has very little in common with my parents.

But she and her husband never actually neglected their children and always were there for them. She and George always tried to support them and rejoiced at all of their successes. They even treated Missy's Elementary School graduation with the same level of hype as Sheldon's early High School graduation. It was only after George died that she kinda became a bad mom (apparently) because she couldn't cope with her husband's death...

That plus the fact that her side of the fam saw us as the screw ups (even though we were the better behaved and not getting into trouble kids) made us make right decisions at the times. What's so ironically hilarious about this comedy is that so much of the narrative is the absolute antithesis of comedy. 😂❤ If anything, this show seems to have quite an English black comedy undertone. You have to hand it to the producers take an ordinary Texas middle-class family. Introduce an amazingly intrusive influence like Sheldon's obtuse personality. And watch as everyday ordinary life becomes as confounding as quantum physics for beginners 😂❤

Mary is such an interesting and relatable character, i think thats why people hate her, shes made all of these bad decisions in her life and when she found god, and tried to redirect her life she over corrects and pushes on some things more than others and she has a favourite child and shows it, which is horrible, she is such a flawed person but it what makes her almost the most realistic one, no father in the late 80s early 90s acts like George in the later seasons, they just didnt they were tougher and harder because life was tougher and harder on them, same with the moms but in a different regard, but they changed him to be more likeable when people started to like the character because Lance Barber has such a likeable tv presence hes a good actor. But people fidnt like Mary because she reminded them of real people and thats the brilliance of Zoe's acting. Mary is quite the complex character, and no one gives the writers that credit because they took what little tbbt gave them and wrote a phenomenal character, the other actors carry their character but mary was written perfectly, and sheldon was almost an impossible character to write consistently well so it makes sense why he dies down but Ian does a good job nonetheless.

I mean one trip to the clinic and you can walk away from it. At least back before the Texas Taliban took over. Now you have to make a little further jaunt to New Mexico or Kansas.
The sad irony was that when George passed, Georgie was the only one to step up and handle things while the rest of the family fell flat on their own faces in one form or another. Sheldon left for college without looking back, Missy was a dumb teenager, and Mary was a mess. So, in the end, all the doubters who underestimated Georgie ended up eating humble pie with a side of crow.
For me it's one of the best moments of Mary in the show. It's just such a bonding moment and she's just so human there
