Great job del as a painter myself I’m glad you went with gloss it really did the colour justice. And I’m glad you opened the eyes to many as to what goes into a professional paint job. Top work 👍👍👍
I truly hated to see the old custom paint job gone after so much work and it turned out so well, but its great that you had the opportunity to test your skills in a pro paint shop. Great job!
Hi Del, I learned how to spray years ago when I worked for ICI. It's a totally different ball game and having a full mixing scheme to hand is amazing. You have achieved a lovely result, and the finish is way deeper and richer than you can achieve with rattle can paint. There is no sink back, and the distinction of image looks great.
Thank you David, I really appreciate your input, I learned so much in one day, and the biggest lesson of all was that there is a technique to using the gun efficiently aside from all of the technical information to take in, just handling the gun effectively is the thing that will take the practice, and I hope to get some more soon, as I have an open invite to go back whenever I need to!
It took me a while to learn the correct distance and technique. I was taught by an amazing lady who was tiny, but able to spray a whole car smoothly and quickly despite her size. She didn’t tolerate lazy technique and made sure that I got it right.
Really like the color, and what an awesome job you've done with it... could not ask for more, there. And I'm happy you decided to go with gloss. I think it looks so much better. Cannot wait to see it on the bike.
Some gold decals, or pinstriping work (if Mackie could be worked into it...) would be amazing on that paint. Well done, brother! As I said...I might be just a tad jealous. Someday! Shiny side up!

Brilliant, just brilliant...love this color. I for one am so happy you chose gloss. Absolutely the best choice hands down as Satin would do a big disservice to all that color. This bike is going to look stunning now if you ask me. It’s just my taste, and I’m so bored with Black painted bikes. If you said so I missed it, so why did you decide to scrap the old paint job you did?
Firstly, thank you for your kind words Patrick, the whole thing from start to finish was an evolution, at the start I fully intended to paint it matt black, then the painter suggested I look through his colour charts before I decided, we looked at some great satin copper finishes, and if you watched the video all through, you'll see we literally decided on the hoof to go with gloss, once I'd got the colour fully laid up, it took on a satin finish (as it always does) and I saw the potential straight away in using a clearcoat, so all in all, really happy with the result... it pays to stay flexible and keep your options open aye?! As for scrapping the old paint job, much as I loved it, sometimes it looked a little fussy and busy in place with all the other black and chrome, I felt a single block colour would, maybe, simplify the bike and make it look a little more sleek! Plus, of course, a wonderful opportunity handed to me by a generous pro painter willing to reach out to the amateur sector.
The same pain job in rattle can would be about 5 videos long and a hundred hours drying time. turned this around in a day and the results speak for themselves! Amazing

Looks good mate , got me thinking of how it would look with the brushed metal sides
Top job Del, spectacular finish!
It was a great learning day and hoping to be doing it again in the near future, thanks for your kind words!
just had to watch it again ! and remembered to hit the thumbs up (I always forget doh!) 👍🏻☮❤
Good call on the gloss versus matte/satin in my opinion. Well done!
And YOU wanted a satin paint.

Great job, well done. Did you treat the under-side of the fenders with anything different or a protective coat?

hey mate, satin's done man... i'm about to change my cross bones from satin to gloss.
Good luck buddy, I've seen a few done and they look fantastic especially with the right seat!
lookin great Del, needs a pin stripe or 2. great job
I reckon you've been STALKING Henry Cole :-) ..... Lovely Job ........
Has he got a Harley then?!!
@@Moonfleet41 I think he's got everything. He's a bike dealer as well as a TV jack-of-all-trades :-)
But I was more referring to his love of spraying 'everything' Apple-Candy-Red a slightly more sparkly version of your paint job.
I’m a fan of the colour too, like nearly anyone with a sense of style. The Harley version of the similar maroon colour was special in satin though but what a pain it was I suppose to keep in good order.
The gloss really makes it pop. So glad you never went satin. Look forward to seeing it all back on the bike... :o)
nice choice Dell ... looks cracking .. cant wait to see it on bike
Cheers Del your hard work has paid of. Thank you.
Sweet colour!!!
