Rockland BOCES Licensed Practical Nursing - Virtual Tour

The #RocklandBOCES Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) program has a rich tradition of excellence in the preparation of skilled nurses in the Hudson Valley. In response to a survey of hospitals, schools and local health officials, the Rockland BOCES Practical Nursing program was started in 1958 to meet the increasing demand for nurses in Rockland County. Launched under the leadership Irene Hahn, RN, with instructors Gertrude Cotter, RN, and Hope Reeves, RN, the program thrives today under the direction of Mary Shine, RN. Each year, a growing number of LPN alumni maintains the esteemed reputation and high standards of the nursing program. #Nursing

In high-school I did the C-TECH medical assistant course and saw the lpns always lined up for their classes and admired them so. Who knew a few years down the line that was me in that same hall? This woman, Mrs Mary Shine and the other nursing instructor Mrs Carol Arendt gave me the skills that I'll carry with me through my entire nursing career. I am now a charge nurse of a sub acute unit. It's been almost two years, and many times I think back and remember the course fondly as the beginning to the rest of my career. The class is very hands on and thorough, and the knowledge you get is so rewarding. I'm so thankful to Mrs Shine and Mrs Arendt. Remembering them today brought me here. Thank you BOCES ❤
