- Motorcycle aux lights can literally be the difference between life and death when it comes to being seen on the roads. Visibility works both ways, and ADV bike aux lighting can not only make you more visible to other cars on the road, but also make it so you can see farther and better if you end up having to ride a motorcycle at night, particularly if you're off road or on the trail somewhere. I'm stoked to be working with Cyclops and Darryl and Brian came all the way down to my house to install some super awesome ADV bike aux lighting on my Honda CRF300L Rally, Yamaha Tenere 700, and Honda CRF450L:

These Honda CRF300L auxiliary lights, Yamaha Tenere 700 auxiliary lights, and Honda CRF450L auxiliary lights are going to greatly enhance my motorcycle visibility (and therefore motorcycle safety) as well as making it so I can see infinitely better when riding at night. Huge shout out and thank you to Cyclops lights for making this motorcycle auxiliary lights install happen.

Cyclops is an awesome company, Daryll and Brian are awesome dudes! I bought a set of Aurora lights for my KTM 890R at the Touratech West Rally, they installed them right there at no additional charge, and even offered me a beer while I waited! Oh, and of course, the lights rock!
I have to get some of those Cyclops lights! Thank you for introducing me to them.
At the end of the day, that's all we want. To feel seen.
ain't that the truth
SO true!! How many times have we read in the news, "I never saw him-the sun was in my eyes"? Yeah...right.
I'm kinda hoping this "ultra bright blue/white light" fad begins to fade soon. There's a line between being seen and blinding everyone else on the road. 🤪
You got that right
I agree 👍. Most of these lights have a colour temperature of 6000 to 6500 Kelvin's 5000 should be the highest as above that blue colour is introduced and human eyes can't focus on it hence dazzle and glare.
I love Cyclops, their lights are kick ass and their TPMS system is the best available.
They are good dudes for sure
Been running Cyclops Optimus on my Stelvio and will never ride without them. Wired them into the high beam switch, flick the high beam at every intersection and have never had anyone turn in front of me. Product & service from Cyclops is awesome!
I like amber spots in the city-because it’s putting something weird ahead of you. It helps the sleepy people notice you coming.
Cyclops makes great stuff and awesome customer service. One of the drivers for my cyclops bulb on my F800GS went bad. They talked me through how to test them. Once confirmed the driver was bad they sent me another one. Got it in a few days and back in business for my MANDR trip.
Nice! And timely for me. Best thing I did was get the Cyclops LED headlight for my Crf300L and what a difference. Want to add some more lights to 450RL and 300L too. Really happy with cyclops.
Thanks Dork!
You’re definitely going to be seen better with the amber during the day. While at the BMW owners association 50th anniversary Rally in June there were a ton of bikes with the amber lights on them and you could see them in bright sunshine exceptionally well. Way better than the white lights. Saw a group of riders close a to half mile away on GS1250s. One guy out of the 6 bikes had the amber and they were blindingly bright.
I’ve got the Cyclops Aurora DRL with the HexExcan setup on my KTM 1290 SAR and I love it. Plus Daryl has great tech/customer support.
I want my Rally set up the same exact way. It’s something that I have been wanting to do since I bought my bike, a year and a half ago. The only thing that’s been holding me back is a lack of instructions on properly hooking them up, the same way yours is.
We installed the cyclops headlight on my buddy’s L model, and he loves it.
looks amazing! I never seem to stop early enough to not get caught in the dark. I'll be looking forward to your future review.
Well dang you may need some additional lighting, then.
Perfect timing. I have been looking at those Cyclops lights.
FYI, Nov '23 "intothedark" 20% off. Time to order.
Those look great Ben! Functional LED lights are always done in my first wave of mods to my bikes. I have two sets of dual function Diode Dynamics on my T7. One set in white and the other in yellow. Both sets provide amber DRLs when switched off.
I've got a set of the Auroras with the amber ring on my Tiger 800 (about 2 years now) and I LOVE them! I have them so they are amber daytime running lights (huge visibility upgrade) and the whites come on with the high beam switch. Outstanding product!
Love the explanation, excellent info. If I put lights on my 300L I'll buy from these guys.
Thanks for the video, definitely going with this company after seeing this.
Lights make such a difference - Im sure you liked the difference at night...huge improvement - like my clearwaters - Black Dog has side lights for the GSA...don't know if they make them for the T7 - but they are nice to have as well...nice job!!!
The rally doesn't even need aftermarket lights those things are so bright from the factory! With my motorcycles I would usually ride around with the bright light on that thing is literally too bright I almost had a dude try to run me over because my light was so bright behind him lol
They are good for normal riding but when out in the desert or bushland the more light the better in my experience of trying to avoid wildlife here in Australia.
You should have turned your bright lights off
@@ablokeinatroopyaustraliawide yeah but with that rally with the bright lights on it does more than what you need I can't see anybody needing aftermarket lights with that bike I mean it's just extremely impressive and they're up nice and high so it just lights everything in there at the perfect angle with the perfect design
Thanks Ben! I checked them out at this year's Touratech. I have 2 bikes, a TDub and a Himalayan, both of which will be decked out with their lights by next season. I'll do the Himalayan first, since I do ride her on the highway-the TDub, really not fast enough for that. I just want people to SEE ME!!!
Very wise ;) Visibility goes both ways.
So that guy is only half right. I woke in lightning. Spec and install on police/emergency vehicles. WHITE is the best if you want to be seen, it is brighter and can be seen from a longer distance. Amber is good for use for the operator to see in the fog/dust/rain.
If you want to BE SEEN by others always go white. This is the reason your seeing more white on emergency and public works vehicles. Green is the 2nd best seen.
I was wondering the same thing and have heard something similar to what you've said. Thanks for confirming.
At night or during the day? Is there a difference?
In the sea of white lights, The yellow stands out. Also yellow is the easiest for the human eye to detect. That's why school busses, safety gear and other things are yellow.
@dorkintheroad both, doesn't make a difference. @brianfrandenburg actually WHITE is the easiest picked up by the human eye. If you can add flashing, that helps more. Then Green is the 2nd easiest to be picked up by the human eye.
Make sure in the end you check state laws on what is legal. Here is Michigan, you can not have any type of red flasher, outside factory turn, unless you are an emergency vehicle. So flashing break, or that mode they showed here to 2 flashers on side of plate, would be illegal.
The cyclops yellow lense can be picked out of white light traffic .
In Canada where DRL are law, the yellow lights I added (thanks Daryl)to my Tenere have made a huge difference in being seen. ( you can actually see other drivers wait where they otherwise wouldn’t.
In a group of riders yellow lights at rear of group make it much easier for lead rider to tell where last bike in group is.
This with light output at 50% in DRL mode.
100%output in High Beam mode makes a significant improvement in rural (deer country) night vision
Very nice , what a grate cie !!!
Looks awesome!
You have a Dork Campout 2023 license plate frame on that 450? You are truly a dork and ... on a bike... a Dork in the Road. LOL. Pretty cool that you were able to work with Cyclops to get the upgrades and record the installation with all their feedback on the choices, etc.
It was a very nice gift from one of the attendees of the campout.
Adorei a instalação das luzes na rally. Sem dúvida que melhora a visibilidade de ver e sermos vistos..
Já agora podes mostrar como se instalam?? Qual o sistema de montagem usado?
Comprimentos
I like the behind blinkiez
Nice 😎👍
Candela is key. That’s the punching power of a light.
I bought a set of Cyclops lights for my 890 but realize I’m not an electrician. So they’re still in the box. Hopefully I’ll get around to it someday.
Lights should never flicker, my opinion it’s obnoxious.
That's the point. The annoyingness gets the attention of drivers.
@@atticushexcel9567 I've been riding for more than 50 years. Use some defensive maneuvers instead of daydreaming and that shit won't happen to you.
@@DorkintheRoad It also pisses them off. I'll use skill and not have them crowd me in their state of road rage.
Hmmm….you know what? I’ve never been “pissed off” as the result of flickering lights. Maybe, just maybe, those that do, might have anger issues…
@@DirtbikeXpeditions Ya think?
Listen, I had a Pan America with the cornering side lights that were supposed to light up the sides of the road when you leaned into a turn. Problem was that that I’d be riding through the SF/Oakland area and every move I’d make the side lights would come on and then go off. Not much of a lean was needed just going around regular turns in traffic. I had quite a few vehicles think I was messing with them and they’d get pissed of and crowd me or slam on the brakes in front of me. You all can get your panties in a bunch because I’m telling you flashing lights on a bike are obnoxious but the first time someone has had too much to drink behind the wheel of the cage they aren’t gonna mind giving you a love tap or crowd you off the road.
What is the issue with tapping your brake lever yourself to wake people up? Just a couple slow tap, “hey, I’m slowing down or stoping.” Position yourselves to the side of the lane like you are going to lane split at a stop.
The flashing light is like loud pipes.
Can't quite see in the video but how are the 300 rally lights mounted? are they on separate fork mounts or bolted directly to something else on the bike already? thanks
I want them!
Would love to see the lights on the rally, rider view. Thanks
Not sure if you’re gonna see this bc how old the video is, but on cyclops website it mentions your video and says pretty much plug and play for the 300l rally. Will it be the same for the regular 300l? And is it actually plug and play or will there be some splicing?
@dorkintheroad. Now you that you have used both the Aurora and Pegasus, which do you prefer? I am about to pull the trigger on Cyclops but trying to decide which is best.
👍👍👍🤟
Not a fan of super bright lights at night. Bright enough, not super bright/blinding.
They're fully adjustable in 10% increments.
The combination indicator really does'nt work well, too confusing.
I do like the high speed flicker of the brakes, does make you more visabile without confusion.
I want some
What kind of smart watch are you using man?
more than my ability to install... great products though!
So, if the CRF 450 is your serious trail bike (OR BDR, etc.) and your Tenere 700 is your touring/trail bike, what role does the CRF 300L Rally play for you now?
I bought it to test and make content for new riders. 450/700 are my personal bikes. The 300l is more of the channel's bike.
@@DorkintheRoad That makes perfect sense. I'd thought I might settle into a CB500X for adventure touring and a CRF300L for exploring, but for now a Scram 411 is filling both roles as I grow and learn. It's been fun and instructive learning from your experience.
Looks good! Any reason you didn't chose Denali?
Because I'm working with Cyclops, maybe? ;)
@@DorkintheRoad that would make sense! Are you doing a vid soon riding at night with them? I'm very interested to see the light emmited! Denali lights are VERY expensive, but they do light up the road! At 2x the cost thou!! I've got 2 sets of auxiliary spots, from temu, one set cost £3.88 the other I did dig deep, £5.87!!! I bought them for a giggle, they may work? 😅🤔
@@terrystratford1235 Most Cyclops and Denali lights are manufactured in the same factory at the same specs. Differences are in wire harnesses, dimmer options and customer service.
@@cyclopsadventuresports2244 interesting to know! Thank you!
I want these but how difficult is install?
Not bad if you have a passing familiarity with electrical. You mostly just tap into existing wires.
Those conspicuousy blinkers on the L gonna get you rear ended by an enraged motorist
Well at least they'll be rear-ending me on purpose because they saw me rather than doing it by accident. ;)
Seems like you're using a cheap phone instead of the action cameras you talk about. Could be wrong.
Insta 360 One RS.
Cool video! I will look into these lights.
Question, did you ever find good crash bars for the 2023 KLR 650 Adventure?? I have been waiting since your first video to see if you ever found any good ones for the new Adventure model.
Thanks!
Tusk would be my recommendation. Best value for the money.
