First day: -Plant your parsnips, one cauliflower, one green bean starter and one potato for the spring crop bundle which will give you 20 speed-grow which will be useful when planting the strawberries to get an extra yield. Rest of season: -Parsnips are a low value crop but are useful to get quick money and your first payday, keep 5 gold parsnips for the quality bundle. Cauliflower is the best selling crop of spring, potatoes are about in the middle and green bean is close to the cauliflower’s value and only need to be planted once but you cannot walk through them. Other crops are not worth it but keep 3-5 around for gifting. Also when you see a forged items, pick them up. Get around 750 pieces of wood. Fishing is a good source of money, fish around the mountain lake next to the mines when it’s not raining and if it is raining in the river. @TheAdamislam Shouldn't have gone through it so quickly to pull the citation of a year old post on the go. That's obviously wrong. The comment is about looking out for these things in spring though. There is no real worth in pulling the whole bundles and overwhelming people looking for early game advice here. Neither is there for experienced players who know the bundles or where to pull them from. Obviously my comment also had a comedic tone. Chill out. Why angryily comment under Stardew content?
If you plant Cauliflower, Green bean, Potato and a parsnip (1 of each for the bundle) on day 1 it's possible to get the reward of 20 SPEED GRO FERTILIZERS for the bundle at the day of the egg festival. Make sure to get the bundle reward after the egg festival and make sure to plant 20 strawberry seeds with the speed gro fertizilizers to get 3 harvests of strawberry instead of 2! This will make you ALOT of more moeny with just little effort. Make sure to get 2 cauliflower and 2 green bean seeds at the start because of the risk of losing one bc of crows.
I was just coming to say the same thing: get at least one cauliflower, green bean and potato and get them planted with your 15 parsnips on day one. Then, after the Egg Festival, you can run to town and complete the Spring Crops bundle for 20 speed grow. Put these on your 20 strawberries and you can get 1 extra harvest which is a LOT of extra money very early. I save the gold ones for Maru and Demetrius' birthdays in Summer.
What do you do if you find a duplicate of one of the scrolls? I had found and donated Scroll number 2 of 4 and then found another scroll and didn't read that it was also scroll 2 so when I went to donate it I was surprised it was a duplicate. And I can't sell it or know what to do with it. Have you run across a duplicate scroll before?
IN ADDITION: Keep Parsnips! They are the ONLY item that is liked by almost EVERY NPC! You can blindly give a parsnip to every NPC on their birthday - so keep like 20 to 30 around for year 1. (the only exceptions to this rule are: Vincent (just give him snails), Haley/Jas who want Spring forgeable Daffodils and Abigail who likes to eat Quartz lol)
I carry all my salmonberries with me, and give them to anybody who likes them (Demetrius, Jodi, Leah, Linus, Pam, Robin, Sandy, Shane). I also take along two field snacks or common mushrooms so I don't run out of salmonberries before blackberry season starts.
All NPCs like all fruit grown from trees. Not almost all, but literally all NPCs. Once you get that far and have the greenhouse + fruit tree set up, then that is the easiest way to always have a steady supply of liked gifts. I saved improving all my relationships for later in the game for this reason. Only people I prioritise early game are the ones I want to marry or give me useful things (e.g., Marnie + hay). It's a waste of time IMO giving out your limited resources to people early game.
One thing I'll add that most people tend to overlook are tulips! They are very cheap (20g/bulb), grow fairly quick (6 days), and are a liked by everyone (and loved by Evelyn), only dislike by 3 people: Sebastian, George, and Clint. They make for very good gifts, especially if you throw some basic fertilizer to get more gold-quality! (You can also keep one growing near those bee houses to increase the value of your honey for no extra effort!
@@emilyfogerty6438 So expensive and for barely any profit in return (unless you plan of mass producing them and turning the valley into the equivalent of an oyster farm), I hope they're patched at some point, either to make them less likely to catch trash, or to lower their price at Willy's.
There are no mistakes on SV. You play on your own timing and in your own style. Explore the game. (There are some tips here I would never follow, as it is not how I like to play the game or I don't find it efficient.)
I just requested Stardew Valley to a friend. He is like ,"What to do now? What plants do I buy? How is the most effective way to spend the money?" I already know where to send him. Even i learned a lot of this video. U r one of THE BEST Stardew Valley RUclipsrs and one of my 2 favorites.
The best guide i have ever seen on stardew valley.. very informative and easy to learn, YOU HAVE SO MUCH POTENTIAL DUDE THE VIDEOS ARE SOOO0 GOOD!! keep it up man!
The only other thing I can think of is instead of selling the Seasonal Seeds, plant them (Crows don't attack these seeds so you don't have to worry about a Scarecrow for them) and befriend Caroline. She gives you the Tea Sapling recipe which, if you craft it, each sapling sells for 500G each. With a constant growth of the seasonal forage items growing you can sell quite a few for a large paycheck by the end of the season which goes a long way towards helping with other things like tool upgrades and whatnot.
Yes, I start week one with Dandelions and talk to her as much as possible. I usually have it unlocked by week 3 or week 4 at the max. So helpful for getting backpack upgrades, fishing rods & more.
I've spent all day sick in bed watching guides, after playing my first 30 or so hours. You are the only person that's talked about relationships. I haven't even watched what you're going to say yet but for that reason alone I'm commenting, liking, and subbing. Great video so far!
First timer here and im just anazed on how deep this little game is. Jesus. Very overwhelming to try and grasp everything within the time given. Kind gives me the Majoras Mask vibe here. Thanks for the videos to help me out

I saw maybe a couple of tips that one can't learn from the wiki. However, I'm well aware that wikis are not ideal for everyone to learn gameplay; some learn better through YT videos. So to that end, this is an excellent video with so much helpful information to help new players but I'd like to add 1 more tip: don't stress yourself. Not completing everything possible in the first season or even the first year is not the end of the world or even the end of the game. I believe Stardew Valley is meant to be laidback and chill so take it easy and enjoy it.
I like this insight, my goal for most of this video was to make the information as easy to digest as possible, as straight outdoing the wiki in terms of information is almost impossible. I agree with the not stressing yourself, I wish I leaned into that more when making this video!
I would like to make people consider Kale as an alternative as well. Gives 17 xp and 50 energi for a standard. Especially, the high xp per day of watering makes it an excellent crop to get to farming level 6, which unlocks quality sprinklers.
FINALLY! I’ve watched so many videos trying to figure out what I’m doing as a newbie, and they all just make me feel super overwhelmed and like I’m not doing enough. This is a great, straightforward, simple tutorial with achievable goals 😊
I would say, its really good to save sap, as its useful for making Fertilizer, that if you followed' this guide you should have (I think its foraging 1) , ALSO if you realized you missed a crop or two, write it down, buy the seeds of it. Honestly if you get a chest of all the seeds you either need because of Gold-star's or because you forgot/missed, it helps to visually see what you need. (Atleast for me)
I have over 500hs in this game but I'm not a fan of min-maxing, so I still learn things (or at least how to be more efficient, instead of taking 3 years to finish the bundles) with beginner videos like this, so thank you
This was very helpful to me as a former Harvest Moon player. Thanks! I am not following the guide to the letter (I'm gunning for a building full of rabbits, for reasons) but now that I have a good idea of what is possible, I feel like I can make informed decisions about what I want to spend my time on.
theproblem with the bats is, they dont give it reliably enough to make you avoid not getting a fruit tree anyways. specially with how you basically need 4 apples and 1-2 pomegranates. this is the reason i always go for the mushroom cave instead. its not that hard to get 10k to buy them by the 20th of summer, and you could probably get away with buying them by the 23rd.
Imo I think it would have been good to mention putting a scarecrow down Also I personally always plant the ancient fruit as soon as I get it, i know I'll eventually get a seed maker and can start making money with it
This is definitely not the way to play the game imo this game is just designed to play how you want at whatever pace without consequence. I highly recommend not playing the game liek this for your first play through, it will ruin the game for you and make it stressful when this game is meant to be far from stressful. Seriously just play it how you want. No rush at all
You're not behind! Just have fun in this game. I'm pretty sure there is no real time limits. Every guide I've seen is stressful to someone who isn't a super intense gamer, hah. I'm trying to go with the flow on my current save, and I'm enjoying it much more than pausing every few minutes to figure out what the optimal choice is.
Writing this for myself as notes: Week 1: start with LOTS parsnips then go for a bit of cauliflower, or potatoes -keep 5 gold parships if u can- do not sell foragebles until level 1 and get spring seeds (sell for more), get forest farm for rare mushroom, get 50 wood, use sap on all crops , get level 4 forage by 14 of spring, fish in ocean, or RIVER IF raining.. for bundle (RIVER sunfish 6-7 in sunny weather, catfish 6-midnight in rain, chads 9am-2am in rain, brime 6pm to 2am LAKE MOUNTAIN LAKE, large mouth bass 6am-7pm, carp anytime and bullhead, OCEAN sardine 6am-7pm, eel 4pm to 2am in rain, Clam, mussel, oyster or cockle for crab bundle), FOR MINING (15-20 level at end of week if can and donate all u can, use cherry bomb to explode door to the right of mine, give lewis any gold crop for his birthday) by backpack ASAP
Week 2: Farming: potatoes and green beans for constant pay out, if u have rice shoots, plant within 3 tiles of water source, harvest but dont sell, buy strawberry seeds (15-20 and save some to plant next season but some for now), get 300 wood for bridge on beach, need sea urchin for bundle, large stumps are better for forage xp), get copper pick for lvl 40, if u put crab pot in fresh water u get a snail for vincent or else give him a daffodile for his birthday), talk to ppl during egg festival, for hailey, give a daffodile
WEEK 3: Don’t bother with sprinklers 15-18 get salmon berries which are good for energy (if u are level 4 foraging, u get 2 per bush, get stuff for spring foraging bundle if u haven’t (leek, daffodil, wild horseradish, dandelion) Craft a crab pot bundle and put bait in (at least 1) If at lvl 40 of mine, get copper one, get iron ore and save for later (get in icy levels) Pam LOVES parsnips (get gold), Shane on 20th wants BEER Or veggie if u don’t want a loved one.. When Demetrius comes, go for fruit bats since u love mining
Week 4: save money for summer seeds, plant potatoes or parsnips if need quick gold .. get a small stock of LOVEd crops because wont be able to get for a while.. BUY A APPLE TRRE since will need 4 apples for bundles. Tap trees if u can and make full use of bee houses because they thrive in summer. Maple tree for maple syrup. By the end of spring, hopefully level 50+ in mines so work for steal tools and get upgrade watering can since crops will be dying. UPGRADE AXE IF POSSIBLE and get a cope with a chicken of each brown and white if possible. For the flower dance, if u have 4 hearts with anyone, dance with someone, because will gain heart. Buy rare crow and flower tub recipe if you can. Pierre’s birthday : likes any gold quality crop or fried calemary Emily loves any gem pretty much
Tip about fishing - in Spring you actually want to fish in the lake near the mines instead of the ocean on non-Rainy days. This place will make you most money and is the easiest to level up (Carp is the easiest fish in the game which will often times catch itself basically 😅).
Felt like binging some guides for fun, and while this is an older video, I haven't seen anyone really mention this: If you don't want to craft or buy crab pots for the crab pot bundle, you don't have to! You can get 4 of the items from foraging on the beach (clam, cockle, mussel, and oyster), and rock crabs in the mines have a chance of dropping a crab ^^ Since the reward for this bundle is more crab pots, and I personally rarely use them, I found this to be an easier way of finishing this bundle that saves me money and materials
While Im loving the game it really is extremely stressful and complicated. Im on week 2 and feel complete lost. And even if u watch guides like this you just feel more stressed. Dunno why people say this game is so relaxing?
I’m about to hit my winter of my first year and just watching all the season guides now!!! I didn’t do many community bundles and don’t have the greenhouse so I’m going to focus on all that in my year 2 before next winter! take your time with the game as it’s infinite and don’t need to rush anything if you aren’t comfortable ! :) I’m also playing this world with my partner so it makes splitting the skills much easier and makes the game a lil easier overall!! Time is so crucial pressure in this game 😅
Don’t really worry about min/maxing and it’s all good. You can do the community bundles whenever you like, year 1, 2, etc. Basic guide is farm when you have free cash. Most profit is strawberry spring, blueberries summer, cranberries fall, and chill in winter. Get ancient fruit, use seed makers to reproduce seeds then plant in spring for easy year long profit. Go to mines for ore to upgrade tools/sprinklers. Short cash? Then just go fishing and sell fish.
I used to feel the exact same way! I didn’t feel like I’d made much progress until my third year. In my first year I missed most of the festivals and hardly talked to anyone because I was having so much trouble just managing my farm. For me the time management was extremely difficult. I honestly nearly gave up on the game, but I came back after taking a break and I finally got the hang of it! It’s a lot more fun if you just do the things you like, stop worrying about completing things and allow yourself plenty of time to reach any achievements you want to get to. Or even ignore them for a while! Guides like these can help if you need some direction, but definitely pace yourself more slowly than they recommend. I know it’s easy to look at other people’s progress and compare yourself, but if you go at your own pace it makes it more fun again :)
I'm revisiting these videos again as I am thinking about starting a new save. I would do a bunch of things different my first year. Like I ignored fishing until winter (mistake), and didn't complete the greenhouse bundle until summer of year 2. I do remember loving field snacks and foraging to keep energy going. I regret neglecting the mine in spring and summer also. Lewis is easy to friend in summer when you can grow hot peppers. For first timers I would reccomended getting Sam to 2 hearts your first spring with joja cola, beer or pizza. As his cutscene is only viewable summer year 1. I don't think I could ever gift Shane beer again after going through all stories my first play through. Thankfully he loves hot peppers in summer. I will say for the bats vs mushroom cave, everyone has their bias on it. One youtuber swears my fruit bats every game play. Others swear by mushrooms being more consistent. Fruit bats are just a jump start on bundles for some people. But they drop irdium fruit like iridium truffles from pigs when you have the skill. Some people alternate playthroughs from mushrooms to bats. First playthrough on a standard map I did mushrooms. So I woukd try fruit bats on forest farm one day. I'm impressed you got a coop in spring. I couldn't afford it until fall.
one tip from myself is to only spend cash on potatoes until 6th day and then buy as much strawberries as you can dont think how much energy is going to take you watering all this, you will have a lot of salmonberries anyway and one good thing is to upgrade watering can quickly after it, if you plant them on 14 and lets say you water them everyday at 26 you will get your last harvest of the season so you can just upgrade it earlier which will save you time and energy
I've noticed something interesting. While yes, it is true that you get ten seeds whenever you craft a seasonal seed packet from forageables, the chance of getting upwards of three more of each crop can essentially multiply your resulting seed packets. I planted about thirty or so and ended up with nearly three times as much seed packets from the resulting forageables.
You can get recipe for tea sapling on 1st week summer just keep giving Dafodil to Caroline and oh yea farm those spring seeds too it helps with Dafodil shortage
Traveling Cart may sell quality sprinklers which may be a way to forcefully move farming to no-watering-needed. With 1.6 fishing drops new consumables used for fish smoker but also good on their own boosting fishing or energy etc.
While this guide is now 3 years and 1 patch old, a lot of is still applicable to current gameplay, and I still want to bring up something about which crops are considered the most valuable. A lot of people will look at the "gold per day" values and decide which crop will net them the most money by THIS value alone. However... It should be noted that this is gold per day *per seed* If you go into Pierre's with 5k gold and decide to spend *ALL* of it on all the Parsnip you can, you walk away with 250 Parsnip seeds (which, yes, is a lot to water). If you instead spend that on Potatoes, you walk away with... 100 Potato seeds. (probably easier to manage) If you instead spend that on Cauliflower, you walk away with 62 Cauliflower seeds. 250 Parsnip at base price returns 8,750g in 4 days. 100 Potatoes at base price returns 8,000g in 6 days. (10,000 if you get the 25% average of double harvest) 63 Cauliflower at base price returns 10,850 in 12 days. This might tempt people to think that you get more money by planting Cauliflower for way less work. However, over the 12 days of the Cauliflower growing, you could re-plant the Parsnip twice... 750 Parsnip spread out over 3 plantings (12 days) at base price returns 26,250g. (Spending 5k twice more brings this down to 16,250g) 200 Potato spread out over 2 plantings at base price returns 20,000g (spending 5k a second time brings this down to 15,000g) Obviously, min-maxing isn't really the point of this guide, and people are free to play how they want, but this is something I think even min-maxers overlook - What limits you is not how much gold each seed gets you, but how much you can grow the gold in your pocket. Because how much gold you carry determines how many seeds you can buy. The result is that Parsnips, surprisingly, will get you back 5k more gold than Cauliflower! (and that's just over 12 days) Unfortunately, that is much harder to handle because of needing to eat tons of food for energy. You could probably make up the difference by spending the extra free time/energy fishing/mining instead. So... food for thought.
- Wait until Fishing 5 to sell your Fish if you plan to fish 24/7 during Day2-5. - If you find a Ancient Seed early PLANT IT! There is no reason to wait for Year 2. You will get lots of Ancient Fruits you can then later put into the Seed Maker and get a headstart on planting Ancient Seeds in the Greenhouse.
"he likes snails for some reason" hes a little boy, its what hes made of like that silly little song "slugs and snails and puppy dog tails, that's what little boys are made of" Love your guides, rewatching this one to get the best playthrough i can try
Wonderful video! Just a note, though: giving gifts to the dwarf before you unlock the translator and meet him officially won’t count towards his hearts :)
Tried it in a new save… doable but you're constantly moving, time managing and planning for what to do next day… the game a little feels like a chore but also satisfying if you manage to do what's on the guide.
Pale ale. It's just hard to unlock a keg so early. You need a certain level in farming to unlock keg crafting. It's a bundle reward, but that can be tricky early
This guide is really helpful thank you! It doesn't make me feel like I wasted my time (especially since I missed stuff and I'm definitely behind since I'm now in fall and am definitely not where I "should" be). Its hard to look at guides and stuff cause I feel like I missed so much and it makes me want to start over (like I didn't know about the traveling cart and I only got 4 gold star parsnips). I feel like there's so much min-maxing everywhere that I need to remind myself that I actually can take my time with the game. Idk, am I the only one who feels this way?? And should I start over???
Dont rush yourself, then you dont need to restart. After the crushing realisation that I wont be able to finish the greenhouse before winter, I trashed all my plans and got a horse instead! I basically wasted winter looking for foregables, and restarted my plans in year 2. Never had this much fun just roaming around the valley! :D
The game is so overwhelming. I feel like I'm always in a rush 😂. I guess i just have to wing it for yr 1. I really like to follow the tips here in youtube but when I played it it just felt different and i get to have more fun fishing and completing the journal 😂
I feel like people who min-max Stardew Valley are psychos. 😅 I'm not going to tell anybody how to game, but it just runs counter to everything the game is telling you about, "Hey... slow down. Enjoy things. It's a relaxing countryside."
Fishing is so hard, get the TRAINING ROD for 25g and use it until you get to Lvl4 fishing and you can afford the fiberglass rod, it makes catching fish so much easier, and this is a great way to make money early on.
I don't know if anyone mentioned this in their comment, but don't sell spring seeds. Friend Caroline to two hearts as soon as you possibly can,(should be around spring 13th,) then walk into the room behind her kitchen for her two heart event. Go about the rest of your day, then wake up and go to your mail box, there you'll find the recipe for tea saplings, these each sell for 500 a pop, much better profit than selling the seeds, replant your spring seeds, then turn the excess forageables into tea saplings, sell, and you'll be making big bucks in no time, the best part is that you can literally set hem and forget them, you can let the rain water them if you really want to, and focus on other crops. Since they're not tied to the farming skill crows won't come and eat them, and it's a lovely way to make some extra dosh on the side. If you focus on them, though, you can make an absurd amount of money to the point where you can buy all of the strawberries that you need and more, so you will have the resources and spare time to do as you please! The mushroom cave also gives you Common Mushrooms, which you can put into a seed maker to get Fall Seeds, which can be made into Tea Saplings as well, Horseradish does the same for Spring Seeds, Spice Berry produces Summer Seeds, and Winter Root produces Winter Seeds. So pick the Mushroom Cave and you'll be doing excellently in terms of passive income with zero energy investment, though bundle wise the bats are still better. Honestly since you can complete the community center any time I would worry too much about it.
Wow these guides are so helpful and informative. Wish I found this channel before I starred lol! I definitely won't finish the community center in year 1. Maybe year 2 though.
another tip for when you finish the game.(i haven't done this im not saying 100%) you should know you can change your name right?well change it to [337] because that is the item code for iridium and every time you talk to someone you get iridium another tip is ALWAYS upgrade your tools in the winter because it is like an alternative to growing crops.hope that helps
I never craft crab pots since you can get 4 of the items from foraging on the beach and can occasionally get crabs from the crab rocks in the mines. You don’t need to get this bundle early on so you don’t have to worry about finding the crab in spring but it saves you resources since you get 3 crab pots from completing the bundle
I always sell my parsnip seeds, grab as much forage as I can day one, sell at Pierre's, buy as many cauliflower seeds as I can. They sell on the 12th. Buy as many strawberry seeds on the 13th as you can. Add speed grow to get an extra harvest. You have loads of money soon.
I found a guide app that has helped me keep track of what I've planted and when to harvest and what I can still plant and harvest before the end of the season.was an absolute life saver . I'm starting a second farm and am looking for tips BC I found year 1 so rough last time
Imo getting the coop in spring is a waste of money. Id hold off on the backpack until AFTER a Strawberry harvest. The days leading upto the festival should be spent getting as much money as possible to buy as many strawberries as you can. You can get 2 strawberry harvests netting you alot of money to start summer where you can grow melons and get the coop. In my playthrough i was able to buy 105 strawberry seeds from fishing in the golden areas by the forest and potato harvests.
I'd argue that it's actually better to farm Rock Crabs for a Crab drop than crafting a Crab Pot for the non-pickup fish. They spawn earlier in the mines with weaker enemies, need to be killed for the Monster Eradication Goals (so you have to kill them anyways) and don't require materials, just a sword. Meanwhile, a Crab Pot (while guaranteed to eventually get you the shellfish you need), requires an Iron bar, which has to be mined in the frozen part of the Mines, which is an area that has tankier enemies and unless you've been lucky enough to get a Neptune's Glaive, you probably only have weak weapons. So unless you've had a really lucky run (Iron Ores through Geodes/Treasure Chests), killing a Rock Crab, while not guaranteed, is likely the fastest way to get that last fish.
hey love your effort into making these guides. I noticed some things are inaccurate based on what youve said. Shane loves hot peppers, you dont need to buy him a beer for his birthday. you also mentioned that none of the fish in spring are only available in spring and then proceeded to say that the legendary fish can only be caught in spring time. but thanks for all your other info on this video!!
Yeah no time limits so you can play as slowly as you want and for as many years as you want. This video is just for people who want to be as efficient as possible but if you want to play more stress-free then maybe don't follow this guide.
You really don’t need to follow a guide for your first play through. I didn’t and had a great time, stardew isn’t a game that gets super hard in the end stages if you didn’t play the beginning “right” like some other games.
a friend recommended me to play this game so I can take a break from all the stress our school gave us. and my weird perfectionist self still gives me stress because I didn't do a specific thing in my first ever spring 😅
Completely ignore what he said about mining, you should be at least at floor 80 by the egg festival, if you want quality sprinklers which are amazing for strawberries.
If you're like me and playing Stardew Valley for the first time then STAY AWAY from these beginner's guides. All it does is overwhelm you and is totally counter productive, everyone's got different opinions on where to start. Just enjoy the game knowing your first playthrough isn't going to be perfect.
Take your own advice and realize everybody plays differently for their first time. I myself value stuff like this, because it gives me a goal and the ability to hit the ground running, should I want to.
same feeling! I just restarted after first time reaching fall because I forgot 2 birthdays. I now JUST finished spring and want to redo again lol ...but while also actually just wanting to move on. really torn now
stretch goal for me - learn how to plant seeds that they don't die. On my first playthrough I spent 2 years without making money and wandering cluelessly around... game is pretty hard (especially if you did not play farm simaltor before and all your experience was shooters and platfrom games)
If anyone’s managed to create a document with all information from this video please let me know! Or if there is a document/spreadsheet with all information on for all 4 seasons and the goals for them that would be amazing too
Im rewatching alot and kinda planning to start another playthrough and take a break from my first one that isn't efficient in progression… I'd want to get back in it, I just made a girlfriend.
I've recently got back into the game with a new playthrough and I am quite the try hard when it comes to min-maxing. For those that want to be more efficient, you have to keep in mind in 1.5 world seeds and daily luck influence a lot. Note: A lot of the info below is what I've learned through multiple save files. Essentially day 1 you want foraging/getting an item to donate to the museum for a quick gold turn around for extra seeds. (Note to buy 2 of each: cauliflower, potatoes, and green beans. This is so you'll have one of each before spring day 13 for the spring crops bundle. 2 in case crows get to them) We'll get back to this though. For now, plant whatever you think you can manage to get to farming lv1 on day 5 with parsnips on top of the other crops mentioned. Go southwest of the town and look for spring onions as they give you foraging experience and a quick boost to energy for extended farm work. Make sure to get 50 wood for a chest to bring with you the 2nd day. Day 2 is all about fishing as well as day 3. Typically, if you can set down a chest on the 2nd row of openings outside Willy's shack. No NPCs go there so there's no worry of them destroying the chest and you can immediately walk in after catching what you need. The chest also helps with keeping your inventory clear to continue fishing the entire day. Some people will want to catch catfish on day 3 since they come out when it rains, but usually you won't be high enough level to catch them consistently. So, continue fishing at the beach on day 3 unless you're confident in your fishing ability. If you stay at the beach, you can knock out getting eels early on without much worry. Day 4 will be tree chopping day. You should have some tree seeds growing (for field snacks) alongside forgeables for energy to work throughout the day. Check trashcans daily in case of food items too. The reason for day 4 chopping is to get 300 wood for the beach bridge. The tree chopping gets you levels in foraging and the shells will add to this on top of selling well early on for extra gold. By this point with fishing, you should also have enough for the 1st backpack upgrade. After this, days 5-12 will be more interchangeable with what you do. Rainy days go for more fishing as it gets more income for the coming event for strawberry seeds and for next season. If it's a super luck day go for mines. By day 12 you should be around level 30 in the mines (2-3 days, 10 floors per day) Depending on how far you get you should have enough copper for an upgrade during this period. If there's a rainy day prior to the 13th ensure you upgrade your watering can the day prior. Otherwise hold out on upgrades for now. By day 13 many will want the coveted strawberry seeds. But let's backtrack a bit. Remember when I said to plant 2 of each seed type day 1? This is where things become important. On day 13 you should have 1 of each, parsnip, cauliflower, potato, and green bean. After watering your crops, be sure to keep one of each in your inventory as this next part is essential. (At this point I should add it may be a good idea to buy seeds for day 13 in the days prior as this won't leave your crop field empty on the egg hunt event day) But also can use wild seeds to plant if you have them. Also be sure to hoe land and water to the sum of strawberry seeds you plan to buy. (I always do 20 for a reason) So after the event, you'll want to B-line straight for the community center to finish the spring crops bundle. In this bundle you'll have 20 speed grow which gives you 3 crop yields rather than 2 for your strawberries. After getting the speed grow, quickly make your way back and spread it along the tilled areas and plant your seeds. From this point on you'll be doing fishing (or mining) on days with anything better than neutral luck outside watering crops. On days 15-17 you'll get your 2nd (or 1st if no watering can) upgrade which will be your pickaxe. The reasoning being salmon berries. You'll want to amount a large sum of them, and hopefully by this point you'll have lv4 foraging which yields 2 berries per bush. So, during this time you can forage for the berries and other goods, even chopping wood for tree farms (tappers) when you have the copper for them. It'll also give you enough wood for a coop/barn. Then the last week will be spent watering leftover crops and trying to get to floor 80 in the mines for gold. This ensures you'll have quality sprinklers before summer to avoid excessive energy drain from watering. This also helps set you up for bigger harvest in the long run. One final thing I forgot to mention is that you can use a chair from inside your house to get past the stump near the secret woods. In doing so you won't need an upgraded axe and can collect horseradish's and mushrooms for bundles/energy. You can also kill the slimes there which may drop Mahogony seedlings to plant for hardwood. I'm not an expert at the game by any means, but I did recently finish spring of year 1 with 84k gold which outpaced my old main file of 65k. I love challenging myself and seeing how far I can get. For many it's not fun to do, but for those it does, hopefully something in this mess of words will help you out.
I am not entirely sure how appropriate it was to leave your own lenghty guide under someoneelses guide, but I appreciate the time you took to write it down. I really like your suggestions & definetly try them out right now with a new file (am a beginner). do you have more suggestions written somewhere for first year summer, fall & winter?
@@rohina2730 It's not like I'm dissuading others from using the creators tips/guide. Mine was specifically what I did in the first year of spring through multiple runs. Plenty of other people leave smaller tips and tricks on vids all the time, so I don't see why writing down my own personal experience would harm anything. If nothing else, it'd be little more than a footnote for someone like yourself. As to your question, I wrote that entire spew out of random intrigue to see if anyone else would share their own experiences. I certainly could post about the other months if I wanted to. Also hope you're enjoying the game. It seems like it's easygoing, but if you try to min-max it can be somewhat intense.
@@futur3ndings651 yea, I really meant it, I was literally not sure if it is ok or not. Did not mean to shame you for it at all. I was actually impressed by the level of details and even wrote them down for myself to try it out. I am on day 9 so far, following your suggestions, and it works really well! I am constantly reloading though, when it feels like I could have done something more effitient - I can already imagine how much more intense it can get with a serious attempt to win-max it -.- right now I still mess it up when there quests to complete or my constant insecurity about how much crops to plant to not hold me back if you decide to post about summer, fall, winter and/or other suggestions - i would be happy if you let me know
Week four Finishing bundles Saving up for fruit tree seeds (apple) 450+ mines , steel tools soon Coop 24th flower dance, 26th Pierre bday , 27th Emily bday , almost every gem

Other crops are not worth it but keep 3-5 around for gifting. Also when you see a forged items, pick them up. Get around 750 pieces of wood. -save up 2000g to buy strawberries
I don't understand how you just expect people to reach gold in the mine and get some hardwood, but suggest only saving 2000g for buying strawberries.
@@Haexxchenthey didn’t say get hardwood they said that’s required for the bundles, they’re just helping prep for what to get
@@TheAdamislam "Rest of the season [spring] [...] Get around 750 pieces of wood."
Good talk.
@@Haexxchen “wood” not “hardwood” read buddy
@TheAdamislam Shouldn't have gone through it so quickly to pull the citation of a year old post on the go. That's obviously wrong.
The comment is about looking out for these things in spring though. There is no real worth in pulling the whole bundles and overwhelming people looking for early game advice here. Neither is there for experienced players who know the bundles or where to pull them from.
Obviously my comment also had a comedic tone.
Chill out. Why angryily comment under Stardew content?
Guess you could say this guide will help me... Spring ahead of the competition.

I
If you don't have enough parsnips you won't get the Scarecrow recipe on day 6, 1 cauliflower is fine but idk about any less than 14 parsnips
Save
I would just plant the bean, the others will show up from mixed seeds.
Don’t give the dwarf gifts prior to getting the translation guide, you will not gain any friendship points
@@alexborgan8710 just bin it or give it to penny she likes artifacts
IN ADDITION:
Keep Parsnips!
Honey should all be turned into Mead, quality doesn't matter. Mead crafts so fast in Kegs that Honey is always best made into Mead.
pro tip: you don't even need to make crab pots at all. if you fight rock crabs, the have a chance to drop, well, a crab.
This is what I always do. I find the 3 crab pot reward helpful because then I don't have to buy them. They're so expensive!
@@emilyfogerty6438 So expensive and for barely any profit in return (unless you plan of mass producing them and turning the valley into the equivalent of an oyster farm), I hope they're patched at some point, either to make them less likely to catch trash, or to lower their price at Willy's.
Yup. I always do that bundle with drops from the mines and foraging the beach. Then you get 3 pots for free which are enough for a while.
What do you do with crab pots

I just requested Stardew Valley to a friend. He is like ,"What to do now? What plants do I buy? How is the most effective way to spend the money?" I already know where to send him. Even i learned a lot of this video. U r one of THE BEST Stardew Valley RUclipsrs and one of my 2 favorites.

Thank you!!! I’ll keep going!
Yeah I really like how he says he's not going to micromanage our gameplay. Like... "awwwww! ❤ "
Ah, but fibre is a paaaiiinnn... 😖😖
@@VaryaEQ You can grind the mine floors that spawn a lot of weeds. You can get oodles of fiber with no trouble.

Isn't kale unlocked at Pierre year 2?
@@VampguyN85 nope, you can buy them right away
I like Kale too. I usually wait until I get the strawberries in the ground before I buy it.
FINALLY! I’ve watched so many videos trying to figure out what I’m doing as a newbie, and they all just make me feel super overwhelmed and like I’m not doing enough. This is a great, straightforward, simple tutorial with achievable goals 😊
Great guide. Love that it's kinda like a roadmap vs. min/max type of video that are so prevalent and frankly overwhelming. Cheers.
Thanks! I am not following the guide to the letter (I'm gunning for a building full of rabbits, for reasons) but now that I have a good idea of what is possible, I feel like I can make informed decisions about what I want to spend my time on.
i just started playing stardew for the first time a few days ago and these guides are EXTREMELY helpful!! i seriously cannot thank you enough dude
theproblem with the bats is, they dont give it reliably enough to make you avoid not getting a fruit tree anyways. specially with how you basically need 4 apples and 1-2 pomegranates.
this is the reason i always go for the mushroom cave instead. its not that hard to get 10k to buy them by the 20th of summer, and you could probably get away with buying them by the 23rd.
Imo I think it would have been good to mention putting a scarecrow down
Also I personally always plant the ancient fruit as soon as I get it, i know I'll eventually get a seed maker and can start making money with it
I just started playing and I feel that i’m really behind🥲
No need to min/max it’s a game that you can take your time with. If it bothers you that much though you could always restart.
This is definitely not the way to play the game imo this game is just designed to play how you want at whatever pace without consequence. I highly recommend not playing the game liek this for your first play through, it will ruin the game for you and make it stressful when this game is meant to be far from stressful. Seriously just play it how you want. No rush at all
Don't feel bad I'm behind also
You're not behind!
Behind whom? This isn't a race, relax ❤
Writing this for myself as notes:
Week 1: start with LOTS parsnips then go for a bit of cauliflower, or potatoes -keep 5 gold parships if u can- do not sell foragebles until level 1 and get spring seeds (sell for more), get forest farm for rare mushroom, get 50 wood, use sap on all crops , get level 4 forage by 14 of spring, fish in ocean, or RIVER IF raining.. for bundle (RIVER sunfish 6-7 in sunny weather, catfish 6-midnight in rain, chads 9am-2am in rain, brime 6pm to 2am LAKE MOUNTAIN LAKE, large mouth bass 6am-7pm, carp anytime and bullhead, OCEAN sardine 6am-7pm, eel 4pm to 2am in rain, Clam, mussel, oyster or cockle for crab bundle), FOR MINING (15-20 level at end of week if can and donate all u can, use cherry bomb to explode door to the right of mine, give lewis any gold crop for his birthday) by backpack ASAP
Week 2:
Farming: potatoes and green beans for constant pay out, if u have rice shoots, plant within 3 tiles of water source, harvest but dont sell, buy strawberry seeds (15-20 and save some to plant next season but some for now), get 300 wood for bridge on beach, need sea urchin for bundle, large stumps are better for forage xp), get copper pick for lvl 40, if u put crab pot in fresh water u get a snail for vincent or else give him a daffodile for his birthday), talk to ppl during egg festival, for hailey, give a daffodile
WEEK 3:
Don’t bother with sprinklers
15-18 get salmon berries which are good for energy (if u are level 4 foraging, u get 2 per bush, get stuff for spring foraging bundle if u haven’t (leek, daffodil, wild horseradish, dandelion)
Craft a crab pot bundle and put bait in (at least 1)
If at lvl 40 of mine, get copper one, get iron ore and save for later (get in icy levels)
Pam LOVES parsnips (get gold), Shane on 20th wants BEER Or veggie if u don’t want a loved one..
Pierre’s birthday : likes any gold quality crop or fried calemary
Emily loves any gem pretty much
Thank you
Did you write notes on the other seasons as well?
Tip about fishing - in Spring you actually want to fish in the lake near the mines instead of the ocean on non-Rainy days. This place will make you most money and is the easiest to level up (Carp is the easiest fish in the game which will often times catch itself basically 😅).
Wow thats really helpful, i was so overwhelmed with the amount of things I could do, so thanks alot!
Awesome Job!🥰
I really liked the way you explained what to do by the week. I'm thinking of starting a second file and this video was very helpful!! Good job!
Lmao I just got to summe on my playthrough and after watching this I think I am gonna restart
Felt like binging some guides for fun, and while this is an older video, I haven't seen anyone really mention this:
If you don't want to craft or buy crab pots for the crab pot bundle, you don't have to!
You can get 4 of the items from foraging on the beach (clam, cockle, mussel, and oyster), and rock crabs in the mines have a chance of dropping a crab ^^
Since the reward for this bundle is more crab pots, and I personally rarely use them, I found this to be an easier way of finishing this bundle that saves me money and materials
While Im loving the game it really is extremely stressful and complicated. Im on week 2 and feel complete lost. And even if u watch guides like this you just feel more stressed. Dunno why people say this game is so relaxing?
Personally I really don’t find the game relaxing until I’ve finished year 1, after all of the tight deadlines
@@em6644 I think you are right :) Now after 1 year I think im ready to redo stardew.
Not me starting a new world just to follow these tips
No shame, I've restarted like 3 times before I finally understood everything lol
@@salmence100 I wanted to play the game without any help so I’m doing kinda bad but hey ho
I planted about thirty or so and ended up with nearly three times as much seed packets from the resulting forageables.
cool, will try
not me watching this for year 2..
I’m watching well into my last week of spring 1 🥲
same lol
Same... Fml
You can get recipe for tea sapling on 1st week summer just keep giving Dafodil to Caroline and oh yea farm those spring seeds too it helps with Dafodil shortage
One Of The Most Detailed Explanation So Underrated This Cover's Everything You Can Do On Spring.
However... It should be noted that this is gold per day *per seed*
If you go into Pierre's with 5k gold and decide to spend *ALL* of it on all the Parsnip you can, you walk away with 250 Parsnip seeds (which, yes, is a lot to water).
If you instead spend that on Potatoes, you walk away with... 100 Potato seeds. (probably easier to manage)
If you instead spend that on Cauliflower, you walk away with 62 Cauliflower seeds.
250 Parsnip at base price returns 8,750g in 4 days.
100 Potatoes at base price returns 8,000g in 6 days. (10,000 if you get the 25% average of double harvest)
63 Cauliflower at base price returns 10,850 in 12 days.
This might tempt people to think that you get more money by planting Cauliflower for way less work. However, over the 12 days of the Cauliflower growing, you could re-plant the Parsnip twice...
750 Parsnip spread out over 3 plantings (12 days) at base price returns 26,250g. (Spending 5k twice more brings this down to 16,250g)
200 Potato spread out over 2 plantings at base price returns 20,000g (spending 5k a second time brings this down to 15,000g)
Obviously, min-maxing isn't really the point of this guide, and people are free to play how they want, but this is something I think even min-maxers overlook - What limits you is not how much gold each seed gets you, but how much you can grow the gold in your pocket. Because how much gold you carry determines how many seeds you can buy.
The result is that Parsnips, surprisingly, will get you back 5k more gold than Cauliflower! (and that's just over 12 days)
Unfortunately, that is much harder to handle because of needing to eat tons of food for energy. You could probably make up the difference by spending the extra free time/energy fishing/mining instead.
So... food for thought.
Tier 1 sprinklers are actually very affordable, but teselating them is a pain and walking around your field is a hassle.
This is very true, I always see them as an extremely temporary setup, and upgrade as soon as possible
This slapped me with how slow actually I am in progressing… tbf, it's my "first" save.
I just done… like haft of it in mid summer to early fall.
I loved this I wish their was a summer one.
Funny you say that, it'll be out in a few days!
Wouldn't it be more better to perhaps sell your fish to hop immediately to the Fiberglass rod?
"he likes snails for some reason" hes a little boy, its what hes made of like that silly little song "slugs and snails and puppy dog tails, that's what little boys are made of"
Love your guides, rewatching this one to get the best playthrough i can try
I'm watching this on the 26th day of spring realising now that it's never been more over
Wonderful video! Just a note, though: giving gifts to the dwarf before you unlock the translator and meet him officially won’t count towards his hearts :)
i have no bloody ideas how this guy manages to do all of this in the Spring! lol
Tried it in a new save… doable but you're constantly moving, time managing and planning for what to do next day…
the game a little feels like a chore but also satisfying if you manage to do what's on the guide.
I thought this was a relaxing game. I’ve never been more stressed in my life 😅
Besides the obvvious videos about mods, I love that you explain anything in Stardew as unmolded. I play more on my switch and phone.
I already did spring completely messed up, lol. Now I’m in summer and probably will mess that up too. Hehe.
Wow dude I really really like your videos please keep up this type of organized clear content I appreciate it so much, bless you
I discovered a new tip last night... placing wheat in a keg will give you cheap beer
Pale ale. It's just hard to unlock a keg so early. You need a certain level in farming to unlock keg crafting. It's a bundle reward, but that can be tricky early
@@Shalyn-ln9tu no. Pale ale is made from hop
@@carterhuh no, I'm saying, pale ale would be best, it gives you more gold, but it's best because it has regrowth every 1 day.
It's a relaxing countryside."
this is my sign to start a new save (even tho i did a few days ago)
Are there any places to find a written check list of this info?
You're the GOAT my dude! Thanks for all your content, I love it!!
Not sure if it’s mentioned, but in every season, keep and plant the mixed seeds!
Fishing is so hard, get the TRAINING ROD for 25g and use it until you get to Lvl4 fishing and you can afford the fiberglass rod, it makes catching fish so much easier, and this is a great way to make money early on.
This is a really good guild , I'm surprised I haven't heard of you before. Thanks man for the quality content. 👍
Oh damn this looks in depth, nice job dude!
Thanks! I've seen a lot of comments about people feeling overwhelmed and stressed by the time limit, so it inspired me to make it!
Honestly since you can complete the community center any time I would worry too much about it.
great video, exacly what i was looking for and super well produced
Ditto
You can get pufferfish from the travelling merchant in spring to complete the speciality fishing bundle
I listened to a few minutes of this video before pausing, grabbing a notebook, and restarting from the top 😂
Amazing guide! Well edited and detailed.
Thank you! I'm glad it was useful!
Also worth noting that a gold cauliflower gets you the best reaction for the luau soup!
Wow these guides are so helpful and informative. Wish I found this channel before I starred lol! I definitely won't finish the community center in year 1. Maybe year 2 though.
I'm on my first day of summer and now i find this guide fml
That little joke about Clint haha. You subtle with the puns. Great guide though!
It's an okay little joke, but it's not a pun or all that subtle.
another tip for when you finish the game.(i haven't done this im not saying 100%) you should know you can change your name right?well change it to [337] because that is the item code for iridium and every time you talk to someone you get iridium
another tip is ALWAYS upgrade your tools in the winter because it is like an alternative to growing crops.hope that helps
Man, Vincent is warped. As a kid, green beans were the only vegetable I would eat lol. I’d have taken a gold star green bean for my birthday happily.
I came here for SDV but your voice is soothing
When you royally mess up your first year and are watching hundreds of these kinds of videos
I found a guide app that has helped me keep track of what I've planted and when to harvest and what I can still plant and harvest before the end of the season.was an absolute life saver . I'm starting a second farm and am looking for tips BC I found year 1 so rough last time
what’s the name of the app?
@@carolnegri it's called stardew valley guide, the icon is an orangey square with SV guide in bubble writing
An actual beginner's guide! Thank you!
I really love watching these they help so much thank you im 23.5 hours in
hey love your effort into making these guides.
I really want to play, but it seems so incredibly detailed. Maybe too detailed for me.
Just relax... it's a game have fun 😎
there's no kind of time constraints or anything long term in the game. so you can go as slow as you want :)
You got a sub for that clint typo.
Completely ignore what he said about mining, you should be at least at floor 80 by the egg festival, if you want quality sprinklers which are amazing for strawberries.
yea what floor 20 by day 7 when it unlocks on day 5?
If you're like me and playing Stardew Valley for the first time then STAY AWAY from these beginner's guides. All it does is overwhelm you and is totally counter productive, everyone's got different opinions on where to start. Just enjoy the game knowing your first playthrough isn't going to be perfect.
Take your own advice and realize everybody plays differently for their first time. I myself value stuff like this, because it gives me a goal and the ability to hit the ground running, should I want to.
I shouldn't be watching this when I'm on my first playthrough cuz it's making me want to restart xd
same feeling! I just restarted after first time reaching fall because I forgot 2 birthdays. I now JUST finished spring and want to redo again lol ...but while also actually just wanting to move on. really torn now
@@rohina2730 Ended up going with my first save and clocked 70+ hours so far. Gotta say, playing this game with minimal min-maxing is so much more fun.
This is very comprehensive!
stretch goal for me - learn how to plant seeds that they don't die. On my first playthrough I spent 2 years without making money and wandering cluelessly around... game is pretty hard (especially if you did not play farm simaltor before and all your experience was shooters and platfrom games)
If anyone’s managed to create a document with all information from this video please let me know! Or if there is a document/spreadsheet with all information on for all 4 seasons and the goals for them that would be amazing too
It’s not a spreadsheet or anything, but I did make a graphic for all the goals! ruclips.net/video/hsPo9mRpMcs/видео.html
“clit- oh no“ made me audibly laugh, thank you
17:36 I SWEAR HE SAID ARSON INSTEAD OF ARTISAN FOR THE ARTISAN BUNDLE
This guide has taught me that I suck at this game 😂 how do y’all make so much money 😂
I’m looking at this for my 4th year…
Am I the only one who has watched these guides like 20x?
Im rewatching alot and kinda planning to start another playthrough and take a break from my first one that isn't efficient in progression… I'd want to get back in it, I just made a girlfriend.
I didnt get upgraded instruments, but gonna do it in summer.
I am constantly reloading though, when it feels like I could have done something more effitient - I can already imagine how much more intense it can get with a serious attempt to win-max it -.- right now I still mess it up when there quests to complete or my constant insecurity about how much crops to plant to not hold me back
if you decide to post about summer, fall, winter and/or other suggestions - i would be happy if you let me know
