I have a cube from the 80's. I kept it for the retro look. One day I decided I needed to learn to solve it and did it using the beginner method. I got sick of it once I was satisfied I could solve it and didn't do it for years. When I picked it up again I couldn't remember how to solve it so I learned it again and purchased new cubes from 2x2 to 5x5 all Rubix brand. Years passed until I returned and was determined to learn parity on the 4x4 and 5x5. This is when I got the need for a new cube or two. I've just got the MoYu WRM WR MagLev 2021 3x3 and the YJ MGC4 4x4 M. I have never experienced anything like them and I'm getting faster and less frustrated practicing. Its the best £60 I've ever spent.

Thanks for this video. The GAN 356 Maglev is my first magnetic cube. So far I’m very satisfied with it and was wondering how long you could generally use a cube. This video was answering my question. 🎲
Hi! Speaking of trying new cubes, I currently have a MGC 4X4, I like it a lot, but I'd like to try something different. Do you have any opinion on what could be a good fit? I can't make a choice between Valk 4 and Aosu gts2m, or even qiyi ms 4..
my recomendation is: DO NOT GET A BUDGET CUBE like ms or meilong i have the mgc too as my main and i like a lot the moyu feel, so i recomend you the gts2(61mm) or wrm (59mm) de difference between both are just size and colors, but if you like the soft controllable feel of qiyi cubes like the xman shadow you shuould get the valk but some people say it pops a lot, and don not get old cubes like the wuque or aosu gts v1
@@danigd7532 that's what I did, and I liked it a lot at first, but after some weeks and trying a lot of settings I realized that the MGC is better for me, this is really the kind of feel that I want 😁
My experience: I'm barely sub-10, at the moment I'm constantly switching between GAN356 M and Dayan TengYun M, the gan is more solid and slower and the dayan is softer and faster. I choose the cube I want to use depending on my mood on that day, when I'm happy i can use more force to the cube so i choose the gan, when I'm a bit tired i use the dayan so i can turn effortlessly but still turn fast. Lubing is actually more important, when you find your cube locking up a lot or take more effort to turn then try put some lube, the effect is almost as same as switch a cube and unlubed cubes are just awful, I have 2 thunderclap v3m, one of them I rarely ise it and the other one I use it at school every day, the result is the cube I left at home is smooth and I can use it to perform almost as well as my mains, while I'm 1 - 2 second slower with the other cube I use at school. Other experience: I was using Guanlong v1 when I was trying to break the sub-15 barrier, but I failed a lot, but after I learned how to lube the cube my global avg dropped more than 1 second, turns out that not knowing how to lube the cube held me back a lot. you can go to my channel and watch my videos 1 year ago to see the differences.
I had a Rubik’s speed and should usually get a 1:15-1:20, and rarely a sub 1 (minute). I got the rs3m 2020 and instantly get almost always sub 1 (minute)
2:09 it did happen for me. I was maining the yuxin little Magic for 6 months and averaged 28 Seca. But then I bought the rs3m and suddenly my average slipped to 24 secs
Watch the next section on psychological differences on getting a new cube. Maybe it's the new cube, but maybe it's just your feelings on it. (According to J Perm not me)
i use a MoYu meilong 3 and its really good. im using it for abt 2-3 months and for those who want to but it ill give it some directions -the meilong 3 dont have a very fast turning, but its not slow. -the corner cutting is pretty good -he is very flexible and got a good control too i recommend it for those who are beginners but not too beginners, thats it
Before i wanted to buy the Meilong 3x3 m but now i watched alot of your videos and made me change my mind about buying the Meilong 3x3 m and i bought the Rs3m 2020
Pokemon Trainer! But ever since Pyra/Mythra came out I've used them only haha (also because I couldn't do rars anymore with my injured finger). They're super fun but I'm probably gonna go back to Pokemon Trainer.
Nice, i usually just main the new DLC character that comes out and just use them until the next one comes, and if you read this again who would you want to be added
I could never main Steve or Min Min, they're kind of really not fun LOL. I don't have any particular character in mind but my friend really wants phoenix wright so I'll go with him. Also Clover from zero escape would be fun but there's no way they'd do it. Who do you want?
@@JPerm People have been wanting Geno, and even playing super mario rpg i couldnt really connect with him in anyway. That dude from fortnite or master chief would just be funny to see in the game. But i think i would want Waluigi since he has been the biggest meme since like brawl. Also crash would be cool
A good example of cube is not problem is watching Felick's old solves , before his gan sponsorship ,he used some "I don't know which " company's cube lubed with vasoline or something to average sub-6
when the magnets of your modded GAN 356 RS are unglueing and you put flipping magnets from geomags so they are crazy strong, and the pieces have a lot of damage since i have solved the poor thing like 2000+ times, yes i think it's time. i have ordered a GAN 11 M duo.
Hey Jperm I have a lot of struggles with my cfop cross. The main problem is, that if I see a pair, I try to not destroy it, and then I have like a 25 moves cross. Could you please make. Video, how to make the cross, if you already have a pair? Thanks a lot
In general, it's better to predict the location of the pair rather than to save it. Or, use a maximum of 3 extra moves to save it (since 3-4 moves is enough to make a pair).
well i'm syrian and ad you know we don't have amazon or such these foreign companies. i have a 4by4 and i'm using it as my main 3by3, i average 28 and my best single is 16 i hardly can turn this cube and it doesn't even corner cut and any pll doesn't take me less than 6 secs and i wanted to improve my self by buying a new cube despite the fact that there is no speedcubes here also i wouldn't afford it if i found one. what shall i do????
This happened to me. I was using the Jperm rs3m as my main for 1 3/4 years. I got a maglev rs3m and thought the rs3m standard was better. I started to platoe around 11.2-3 seconds. I switched to the maglev and I average 10.8-9 now. I came back to the Jperm rs3m and was still averaging around 11.2-3. The rs3m maglev is my main know but don`t worry! Thanks to Ram Thakkar`s video I set it up like the Jperm rs3m so It is basically a Jperm rs3m Maglev+ (Because I put the edge magnet upgrade to make the magnets stronger).
Dude like idk if this is relevant but i am new to speed cubing and dont eve have speed cube but i just got a one handed sub 8 min on a almost immovable old non speed cube and i am really happy thanks for your tutorials that taught me
Since 2013 I have been using what my Amazon order history calls a "Dayan II". Damned if I know if that's right but that's beside the point. I didn't so much want to switch because I thought a new cube would make me faster, but just because I wanted to know how a "new" cube, almost nine years on, differs from an older one. To that end I ordered a cheap MoYu from the same price bracket as the Dayan (back then - it got cheaper since), which was 12.95€. It turns easier, it cuts corners better, the colours are more vibrant, the grip is better, the magnets are far snappier than the ones I added to the Dayan myself... oh, and my time got worse by about a second because it ain't the tool that makes the craftsman. So yeah. I'm still switching because this IS mechanically far superior, but I'm under no delusion that it is a substitute for skill, much like changing your beat-up Squier for a vintage Les Paul won't make you a better guitarist, just makes you a POORER guitarist.
Before november 2020 i was at 30 minute to solve a single cube but after than i got a normal sticker less cyber and i am using it till now and now i can solve it under 40 seconds It all happened because of you :D
my first cube i bought a few months ago is a Dayan Tengyun v2, for Christmas, I asked for the Gan 12 Leap, just to try something different. I will likely end up using both equally
Ello do you think you could do a video on being color neutral? Whenever i do white, I 90% of the time get sub 20 but for some reason no matter how much I practice i cant get sub 25 on other colors...
I bought a GAN 356 RS, upgrading from some knockoff brand on Amazon for like 3 dollars. Holy shit this cube turns well. My average is around 2 minutes, as I started 3 weeks ago.
Ok, so my birthday is coming up and my parents are giving me a magnetic cube. I recently started cubing about 2 months ago and my only 3x3 rubik's cube is the qiyi sail w. What should I expect from the magnetic cube?
It's easy for me since all I had to do was buy a cheap speed cube that at least resembles the good ones since my skills are still so far below the sealing that the slight differences don't matter.
But a few dozen cubes. Carry 5 of them around everywhere you go. When you have a few spare minutes, scramble all of them and solve all of them in random order.
Jperm, something u are forgetting is that not eveyone gets free cubes shipped to their door every week. Some people may only have $20 and the decison they make is final. so "trying out" many cubes to find the right one will be tough
I started this month. My cube currently is a 2 dollar magic cube it's not bad but not good, it can corner cut but so many blocking. Don't worry I ordered a RS3M 2021 it should be arriving late this year or early January. I'm sub min, I learned f2l and some oll and pll. Really excited my new cube.
Hey everyone, I'm back! My finger has mostly healed, not enough to do serious speedsolving but enough to do a few algs in a video 😅

If you have a lot of money, you can get the gan 11 m. If you want a budget cube, get the rs3m 2020.

After 3 years year, gts3m is still a good cube unbelievable
I have just come back to cubing after being virtual for so long. Surprised that it's still up there (considering at how fast it use to be improving)!
In the Philippines Rs3m 2020 only cost 2$ on sale 6$ if not sale
Jperm knows so much about cubes it’s amazing
Xman ambition maybe
So I currently have a 354m v2 and it is starting to feel really small in my hands should I get the gan xs or xv2
Flexes the collection 2:27 , loved the vid my dude
hi e perm i am sub 1 with the gan 11 m pro, should i get the valk power or v-cube 6?
I’m 69420 btw
2:21 you GAN just stick with one cube
im early.. im sleepy.. im hungry.. i guess hi..
also is your hand okay now?
Do you take good care of the Valk Power M?
I've gave them away... I hope their new owners are taking good care of them.
@@JPerm Hopefully
I had a Rubik’s speed and should usually get a 1:15-1:20, and rarely a sub 1 (minute). I got the rs3m 2020 and instantly get almost always sub 1 (minute)
i actually had a non stickered rubiks brand and i still use it and well,it turns amazing when lubed.
(According to J Perm not me)
@@BlueRS123 Agreed
As others say its a psychological factor. The new cube felt more fun so you had more fun solving it.
It happened to me too but with 10 seconds less because I was using the rubix brand at first and then I got the Jperm rs3m 2020
@@mrmax4002 well then that’s obvious
"Basically, it's complicated"
Truly so true
AYO DID I JuST SEE A RUBIKS BRAND CUBE CORNER CUT? 0:32
i use a MoYu meilong 3 and its really good. im using it for abt 2-3 months and for those who want to but it ill give it some directions
-the meilong 3 dont have a very fast turning, but its not slow.
-the corner cutting is pretty good
-he is very flexible and got a good control too
i recommend it for those who are beginners but not too beginners, thats it
I recommend the rs3m 2020 it has magnets
@@win7cuberthe meilong 3m is also alright

This isnt Cubing related but who do you main in smash bros ultimate jperm
A good example of cube is not problem is watching Felick's old solves , before his gan sponsorship ,he used some "I don't know which " company's cube lubed with vasoline or something to average sub-6
if i have to take fare of my cube, what if i dont have lube

when the magnets of your modded GAN 356 RS are unglueing and you put flipping magnets from geomags so they are crazy strong, and the pieces have a lot of damage since i have solved the poor thing like 2000+ times, yes i think it's time. i have ordered a GAN 11 M duo.
I never get tired of his video, it is so fun. I was sad when i heard that jperm got injured.

Hey Jperm
I have a lot of struggles with my cfop cross.
1:45 totally me
Switching to Maglev, hopefully I do.
Just to feel the satisfaction of the turning. It has its own mind.
well i'm syrian and ad you know we don't have amazon or such these foreign companies.
i have a 4by4 and i'm using it as my main 3by3, i average 28 and my best single is 16 i hardly can turn this cube and it doesn't even corner cut and any pll doesn't take me less than 6 secs and i wanted to improve my self by buying a new cube despite the fact that there is no speedcubes here also i wouldn't afford it if i found one.
what shall i do????
I recommend you get a good magnetic 3x3. RS3M is cheap and good. It will instantly make you faster.
I was averaging 40 seconds with the walmart rubiks cube back in 2018 but i switched to the cosmic valk m and have been using it ever since :)
I used to average sub 15 but i stopped for like 2 years i now average around 17 after a week of getting back into it
I've been cubing for 2 months and have 5 speed cubes. They're a fidget toy for me and I'm chasing a satisfying feel. I'm 40yo btw.
0:38 what are you doing here? That looks So cool. (pls correct the sentense if its wrong.)

Who else has been using an Aolong v2 since 2015? Mine's still wonderful and I solve with it every day :)
Valk bro here. I love the valk. It’s not my main but it’s one of my favourites.
Pls make a video teaching the L4E method in a pyraminx, you teach really well.
Hi sir I learn to solve 3x3 by your help thanks for such a great video ❤️👍🏻
Before november 2020 i was at 30 minute to solve a single cube but after than i got a normal sticker less cyber and i am using it till now and now i can solve it under 40 seconds
It all happened because of you :D
my first cube i bought a few months ago is a Dayan Tengyun v2, for Christmas, I asked for the Gan 12 Leap, just to try something different. I will likely end up using both equally
Ello do you think you could do a video on being color neutral?
Whenever i do white, I 90% of the time get sub 20 but for some reason no matter how much I practice i cant get sub 25 on other colors...
I was thinking this question. 5 minutes later it shows up on youtube, crazy stuff
Depends, but it should be more controllable (due to the magnets ofc)
It's easy for me since all I had to do was buy a cheap speed cube that at least resembles the good ones since my skills are still so far below the sealing that the slight differences don't matter.
But a few dozen cubes. Carry 5 of them around everywhere you go. When you have a few spare minutes, scramble all of them and solve all of them in random order.
Jperm, something u are forgetting is that not eveyone gets free cubes shipped to their door every week. Some people may only have $20 and the decison they make is final. so "trying out" many cubes to find the right one will be tough
just got gts3m today and i was cubing and i already learned 2 new algs along with try to learn all oll by saturday :)
20 mins later i get an INSANE pop and screws come out and i had to build the whole thing again
Love the pkmn gen 2 background music!
